RC of Windows 7 / Vista pointer of the ultimate mouse & Windows Update problem?

Have a Dell XPS 630i and made a new instalation of Vista Ultimate, and Windows 7 RC 64-bit and have the same problem with TWO operating systems after installation.

Performance and once installed, Windows Update, the mouse pointer will NOT click on the boxes to the left, updates to install specific updates, but will allow me to check the box to install all the.

It happens in the TWO operating systems.

Windows 7 also freezes on "restart" mainly on the part 'stop' to reboot.
Periodically, the system will also freeze if left running for 4-5 hours?

Thought it may be computer, rather than the operating system, but all the troubleshooting tests do show no problem?

any help would be appreciatd

Thank you.

Performed a clean installation on a computer, using a much more ancient, well-known usb keyboard and mouse and questions GONE!

After the installation, all the drivers, in good order, and ran to Windows Update to get all THE updates without any problem.

It could issue NEW hardware, as the keyboard and mouse have been included with recent computer purchase.

I guess my question is what I have to do a restore of the system under windows 7, before I can upgrade to windows 10? Or y at - it another way?

    Hello glockrow ;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about windows update problems and wanted to help.

I would that be able to say that updating to Win10 was an exact science where we know exactly how he does it, and what it should - but the flooding of this and other instances of Win10 problem after that problem indicates that, at best, we are all guessing.

So, I think, from what I've read and done on my PC, is that you SHOULD be able to avoid the problem of missing updates by updating using Win10 created using this MS link media: 10 Windows Installer using the media - Windows help authoring tool

After you create the DVD or USB, NOT boot from it. Instead, insert it into your PC and, if it does not auto-start, right click on the file setup.exe and run it.

HOWEVER - and this is important - PC Win7 have a rate low success updated Win10 without problem - primariluy lack of OEM Win10 drivers.  Typical problems include display artifacts (to cause to be obliged to use the driver for the card of Microsoft Basic), not wireless and touchpad problems.  The drivers Microsoft provides have only the most basic features, with none of the extras that the HP drivers bring to the stage.

It is further complicated by the function Win10 GoBack, whereby you can return to your original operating system, being known to be unreliable. So when your upgrade machine malfunctioning, only then you discover that you cannot return the machine to work, that you had originally!

You can protect yourself against ending up with a damaged machine - seriously considering using a free third-party product that works for airport Imaging/restoration - Macrium Reflect.

Macrium reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or drives together.

What I recommend is the following:
    (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
    (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
    (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key

NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

So now you can recharge before with the upgrade, knowing that whatever happens, you will be able to return to your currently works in a few minutes.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

  • Windows Update: problem webite cannot display the page

Just install a new hard drive and reinstalled the original XP Media Center operating system.  I get this error when you try to get the windows updates: the site has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below may help you solve the problem.   Help, please.

    @Whitebearmike

Question for you: what is the level of service pack of the operating system XP?

If no or anything under service pack 3, you need to get to service pack 3.

Run WINVER to check the service pack level.

If your XP is the gold (no service pack) version or even the sp1 or sp2 windows (iirc) then automatic updates will not work.

You must have service pack 3, but so that you have either installed SP1a or SP2.

Please review carefully. Make a backup of your system offline media (before & after each service pack).

To download service pack 2 - see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=186637

To download service pack 3 - see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=183302

I invite you to do a mirror image of system backup once SP3 is correctly in place. Mirror-image backups are on the only good way to come back to a clean image, if and when disaster strikes.

You can use the following to install the service Pack XP

  • Update the BIOS and Windows Update problem

    Hello

I have a Pavilion laptop g7-2017us running Windows 7 Enterprise. October 18,2012, HP maintenance program informed me that he had to update my BIOS. HP maintenance program had not updated of the BIOS.  See my BIOS is F.08 (dated 03/05/12).  Manually, I been looking for the latest BIOS and found that it was identical to what is installed on my computer.  It seems that software of diagnosis of HP gave me false alarms.

Question #2: I periodically install updates to Windows.  I saw my story updates and found 2 failed: one who is 'recommended' and the other 'Important '.  I looked at the error code and they are all two "80004004. I did google search and learned this is very serious problem b/c Windows is damaged.  I tried using Microsoft 'Fix It', but it doesn't seem to help.  Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?
