cloning of 320 to 500 GB HDD

Hey guys. I have a x 220 with a 320 GB HARD drive, I get a 500 GB HARD drive, but I don't want to reinstall everything manually.

I have 3 partitions:

1. local Disk (*) (looks like a partition system or something, 1.1 GB, with 348 MB used)

2 C: (primary partition) (281 GB)

3 Lenovo recovery Q: (15, 6 GB)

I want to accomplish is that after the upgrade, the C: partition would extend to the amount of new spaces available.

I have at my disposal, a desktop PC where I can connect both the new and the old HDD to perform the cloning. Now all I need is to know how to do this.

Did do it. Software Paragon helped me. Cloned with Disk Copy and more fixed with disk management

  • Exchanging the 500 GB HDD with a SSD 128 GB on a fancy m6 1101-so

    Hello

I was trying to replace/change the 500 GB HDD with a 120 GB SSD installed on this laptop. My plan was to use the SSD as boot drive and the HARD 'normal' storage disk in a cradle of HARD drive in the optical drive Bay. But my problem is that during the backup of the disc at first, I did install, the installation leaves boot loop once the installation is finished and he wants to start windows for the first time.

All those who know what is my problem? At the beginning I had problems with even getting to the start screen, but I solved it with the boot and installation of windows with the BIOS in legacy mode.

Hope that there is a magician who could help me.

You cannot use recovery discs that you made from 500 GB HARD drive to restore a 120 GB drive in most cases.

You can clone the SSD HARD drive. (Note: total capacity used on the HARD disk must be less than the total size of SSD for cloning to work). Use Macrium reflect free cloning tool & SATA Adapter USB to connect the SSD for laptop by USB.

Now I ve tried all USB devices, to begin with it uninstailling everything on we / off on to just pluging it when we / off and it keeps saying be the devide was not recognized and it doesn't propperly (small box pop up bottem left of the screen)

Now Issve exchanged it once already, and he said that the unit was defective, but having exactly the same problem with two different cameras? This seems a little more bad luck for me.

If anyone can help, that´d be great.

    Hello

You have software of Regen with your HARD drive? I don't know if this can help, but check the Toshiba download page and you'll find a version for Windows XP Home edition. Maybe this will help.

I checked "disable computer alow device" in the power management. still continue it problem.

the unit works fine when I connect to the pc which has XP

do I have to install any driver software for this since samsung does not provide any software.

I see no reason for this behavior, paricularly the device works very well on a sys winxp, the only possible reason I can think of, it is assuming this drive does not have its own scource pwr, then the usb connection does not provide sufficient pwr

  • Qosmio X 500 has /HDD RAM or DOA?

    Hello

In front of me is a QOSMIO X 500 / 02 G (PQX33A-02G00J), which has experienced some trouble.

I learned that he was suffering from a corrupt HARD drive and have been asked to make it work again.

On the survey, I found three likely points of failure:
    1) the two bays for HARD drives are empty
    2) the two RAM slots are empty
    (3) when the power cable is connected any of the lights turn on and the power button doesn't trigger any response.

I was able to locate a cell phone work with a cable of the same power and confirmed:
    (1) the power cord provided with the faulty laptop is capable of powering the laptop checked.
    (2) the defective laptop does not respond when you use known good power cable.

    My question:
    * Is this model should give no sign of life, missing HDD + or + RAM? Or he suffered a critical failure more? *

    Thanks in advance,
    Kelly

Well, the portable lights without the RAM.
You must RAM modules in order to power the unit in place.

But to my knowledge the power light should be lit (even if the RAM modules are not inserted) if good work adapter is connected and power would be supplied correctly to the laptop.

In case the power led is OFF, even if the AC adapter is plugged in, then there is a problem with the motherboard (maybe electronic power supply on the motherboard).

  • Hardrive can be upgraded for laptop HP G60-235DX of 320 to 500 GB

    Hello.

I learned by a person of tech HP (on the phone) that my HP G60 purchased in 2008 could not be improved to a 320 to a 500 GB.  He could not tell me the reason why not.  The Geek Squad at Best Buy, where I bought the laptop, was told that the upgrade should not be a problem.  My system has 512 of RAM and runs Windows Vista.  Is there a reason why I can't spend my hard drive?  My drvie just died and since I have to replace it, I'd like to update if possible.

    Bookmombridget

    Hello

Make sure that you have burned Recovery DVD for your operating system.

I see no reason for you is not able to upgrade to a 500 GB HARD drive, but I see that you say you have 512 MB of RAM.  If this is the case, just check the link below it is your model, because it indicates that you should have 3 GB of Ram installed.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01630402

512 MB Ram really is too little to run Vista.  Your profile says your machine can have up to 4 GB of Ram.  You really should have at least 1 GB, and 2-3 GB would be really better.

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes

  • X 61 can not detect the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 2.5 "500 GB HDD

    Hello

I have a problem with an old Hitachi 320 drive. So I bought a WD Scorpio Blue 500 GB drive today. I've used ghost to make a copy disc to disc. After the copy is complete, I tried to start with the WD Scorpio Blue 500 GB. Nothing happens, the cursor blinks and flashes just. If I boot from the CD de Hiren, I can see the WD Scorpio Blue 500 GB. I use a partitioning tool, disk and partition take it all right, but still, I can't start!

I then insert a Windows XP Pro (my OS is XP Pro) in a USB drive and boot from it. When I tried to press 'R' to repair, he claims that there is no hard drive in my system! What happens here? Do I have to update my BIOS for this new WD Scorpio Blue 500 GB? I ran the FWSH33 boot CD, he said: I don't need to update the firmware of the player. Can someone advise for this strange problem?

    Thank you!!

I know that the laptop supports the disk controller sata hard and since the disk controller sata hard has no limit. I think that the BIOS should support the 500 GB hard drive

I just bought a Portege m400 and have improved the ram and hard drive. I install Windows 7 on the machine. I bought a Seagate Momentus SATA 500 GB hard drive, but it is only considered as 250 GB. The m400 does not support hard drives of 500 GB? What continues?

  • Satellite A660 - format 500 GB HDD to make it bootable clone

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A660 PSAW3C-047017 running Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit.

I bought a 500 GB Momentus XT in December so that I can clone (bootable clone, not recoverable image). I just bought and installed Norton Ghost 15, but he can't see the player, which is connected to the laptop via eSATA. Disk management says I need to initialize the disk. I can't find an explanation of what exactly the means of initialization. What is exactly?

Various discussions of the forum say contradictory things about the effect of the end of initialization (if it destroys the data):

    http://superuser.com/questions/283930/will-initializing-disk-make-data-unrecoverable
    http://www.SevenForums.com/hardware-devices/29199-hard-drive-initialization-question.html
    http://answers.Yahoo.com/question/index?QID=20080214215647AAYFNGS

Since this is a new HARD drive, I think that I don't have to worry about that?

Choose the MBR (Master Boot Record) or GPT (GUID Partition Table)?

Finally, maybe it's a bit specific Seagate for another thread, but I'll put it out there in case anyone can sound. I read that the Momentus XT has some built-in intelligence to prevent degrade them performance with the limits of partition alignment issues when Advanced Format is used. He also announced an integrated intelligence keep more frequently accessed content in the part of the SDS of the HARD drive. Will one of these to be "spoiled" by the init or the wrong partition style? What formatting, is there anything to be careful?

You may need to add the SATA driver for the HARD disk.
The laptop supports the SATA controller and the SATA driver files are part of the Intel Storage Manager.

  • Toshiba 320 GB external USB HDD has stopped working

    Hello

Recently this evening my external hard drive has stopped working. I can start it and the blue light shows, but it seems that the arm of reading or the mechanical part is stuck or does not start. It has a very low and repetitive clicking noise.
Before I used to get a strong enough * Click * when starting and now nothing. Nothing does load in windows either, and remains undetected.

I thought that I could send to repair if it's arm which is broken or needs other than tighteneing as, it's a pretty desperate situation that recently, I cleaned my computer and used the external hard drive as back up, with all of my work for the last 8 years on this subject...

And I can't afford a recovery of data of 300 books, either.

    null

Possibly the HARD drive died completely. I mean it might be possible that a head crash could cause this problem.
My HARD drive died in the past, it was a laptop internal, HDD, and before that the HARD drive is dead, I noticed a strange rattling noise.
After a restart the laptop the drive HARD was not accessible
Well, HARD disk crash is not an uncommon problem and it always happens
So, in most cases, it s also should back up the data twice. That is to say: on DVD, CD, etc.

  • Satellite Pro M30: compatibility with a TOSHIBA 320 GB external USB HDD

    Hello

I was looking for a new external hard drive when I came across the disc toshiba 320 GB external hard. However, under the heading "compatible notebooks" it did not have my model. Is this a problem that suggests this will not work on my laptop or it's just a schoolboy where my laptop was unsuccessful?

I have included the Web page that has the compatible machines.

    http://UK.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/JSP/individualOptions.do?service=UK&selCategory=4699&o ldCategory = 4699 & OPTION_ID = 120291 & toshibaShop = true & tab = 2 #2

Your help would be much appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Hello

I put t know why the Pro M30 or M30 is not listed under compatible devices and supported but I n t think that there might be a problem.
This external HARD drive using a USB connection and as far as I know the laptop supports 3 USB 2.0 ports. It seems the HARD disk should work

But I think that each dealer would also test the HARD drive before you buy.

No Yes No problem, but while you're there you can consider a rotational speed 7200 RPM. It is well worth the extra few dollars it costs.

  • Hybrid Seagate 500 GB HDD is missing 213 GB after installation

After replacing the original failing hardrive in my laptop HP HDX X16T-1000 CTO, the Seagate ST95005620AS Hybrid drive (500 GB) has been reduced to only my original 287 GB disc.  After you install the new HARD drive, I started the laptop with my 64-bit Windows 7 system recovery disk and then installed a previous image system.  Now, my new 500 GB drive only shows the original GB-287 available.  How to find the missing 213 GB of disk space?  Thank you...

Very well!  I found out on my keyboard, between the right 'alt' key and the right key 'ctrl', a key that contains an icon that looks like a "menu" will be mimic the right mouse click or click right button (as "pass" "F10").  I followed your advice and was able to recover my full 500 GB of disk space.  Thank YOU much for the help!
