CloudClient - change of lease / expiration

I use CloudClient 3.4 against vCAC 6.1.1

I have several machines that I need to change the lease.  I worked my way up to understand that the command I need to run is:

VRA provisioneditem action run - da813a6e-af7a-46b7-a528-36f092c40c8a--action id 'Lease change' - properties "expires = MM/DD/YY"

When I run this command, I get:

CloudClient > vra provisioneditem action run - da813a6e-af7a-46b7-a528-36f092c40c8a--action id 'Lease change' - properties ' Expires = 01/02/2016 ".

Error: The input provided resulted in a REST exception: unknown field: expires. The HTTP status is 400 - BAD_REQUEST.

I need help with what put behind - properties.  Which player (s) lease expiry accessories?

  1. What should I put in the field of the properties?  (Name of property?  Is there a certain format of date?)
  2. Can I place more than one machine via a single command?  I guess I'd be separated by commas them and wrap everything in quotes?
  3. Am that I on the right track here?

Thank you!

OK... so a bunch here.

Well you use Cloud Client for one, but here's more information to help you in your thoughts and your processes.

1. If you don't know how already, be sure to know how to use Firebug or Chrome Tools (F12) to capture a request in the vRA. This gives you postData it for the makeRequest, which tells you exactly how the property keys are defined.  (for the most part... There is an exception with a couple of those who are 'number' format...) "I think that memory was one of them.)

2 since you have Cloud customer, you can actually GET requests that have already been made and see what looked like the demand... (you can get the ID of the request of vRO inventory, a client of cloud list, the capture of makeRequest above and other means)

CloudClient > details request of vra - id 'a06a45da-cf76-4e67-9e23-b1e2dce11922 '.

Attention with the machineID, it isn't really the right one for the "resource" put into service... for this we need of the resourceRef.id (which can also be seen in the application).  You will find that all the provider part of the application are essentially the part of the query properties, but many of them are provided by default.  The only one you must satisfy to this call to action is provider-ExpirationDate.

3. with the resourceRef.id, you can get the list of actions that you can perform with your account rights.  And with the ID of the action and the resource ID, you can get the fields, he expects.

4. now, knowing the format (using several different ways), we can present a good set of properties at our request.

So, at least it's the idea behind all this.  Unfortunately for me... I always use 3.3.1 (but will move 3.4 soon) and there are bugs on the recall of the request for default date values and Action of modification of lease.  It will probably work for you.  I change lease a lot differently as I wrapped an application of ASD around it.  I would like to use Cloud customer to call my application of ASD.  (which works as I take all the strings and make my type in the workflow conversion.)

And this brings me to this...

> Can I pass more than one machine via a single command?  I guess I'd be separated by commas them and wrap everything in quotes?

Nope.  But you can have a flow work vRO iterative (and asynchronously) called a change in Client Cloud by machine lease.  So you can have an array of machines, selected by the user or another (if you have ASD), and run the lease change on each machine in the table programmatically.  Actually to make * a successful thing *, but do it several times to apply. (Edit: or you could send a list of machines in a shell script and iterative browse each, but I would steer you away from this type of methodology if I could... preferring to settle the iteration of the orchestration in vRO.)

>>>3. Am that I on the right track here?

Absolutely!  You're onto something impressive and it should bring you a lot of success.  (with, of course, some of the struggles and frustrations... but that is life in the technology, I guess)

Keep at it and share what you find!

  • Change the default lease duration

    Hello

Is there a way to define a default (for the duration of the lease) when people order a server based on a model?

The default value in the form always seem to be the minimum value of the EHR Architecture. I want it to be possible to establish 1 day as the term of the lease, but is not very easy to use by default.

Is there a magic custom property, that I missed?

    Edit: vRA 6.2

This has been a pretty consistent complaint with plans of IaaS.  Management of leases as a whole needs a few improvements, including...

    1. default configuration (Iaas).

    2. best approvals for the selection of the distance (IaaS).

3 adjustment range min. - max (Action integrated resources for change of lease) as right now you can extend a 20-year lease if you want without control.

The last of them, you can move titled do not "change the lease" to the user, and instead of writing your own Action of resource in the DSA to change of lease.  VRO workflow or action of the DSA maintains your constraints field to set the default values, and to prevent a lease of change outside the limits you set.  (for example, no more than 365 days)

If you have a lease of change with constraints, you MAY (even though I know this isn't your desire) is your lease of IaaS min/max conclude the series (may not be the same) forcing a default value.  For example, you could put 90 min-91max and all the machines that gets built will have 90 days to begin with... then through the action of custom resource lease of change, the user can extend the lease up to one year with a default value for over 90 days.

Those are the things you can do now.  We put in feature requests better rental management capabilities to penetrate the main product.  (some already have)  More people who want something, it is likely it is prioritized in the effort of coding for future versions.

  • Cannot change my IP address

I tried to change my IPv4 by turn off my modem settings network and cmd prompt does not. Is there something I can do? Also, I noticed that when I use ipconfig / renew, I get the message ' year error occurred while releasing Interface Loopback Pseudo 1 interface.» The system cannot find the specified file. "I'm on the internet, but I wonder about this error message and if it has something to do with my inability to change my IP address.

My ISP people seem lost on the issue.
I'm changing my IP address as a chat IRC room is apparently glitched and reaching the operator/s by e-mail was a problem.

    Thank you.
    VFNNJ

McAfee, no. I use Avast! and the Windows Firewall. Although my machine came with McAfee which I removed with the help of their removal tool.

Interesting, the lease obtained seems to be the same time as before, but the expiration is now close to 02:00, so it is moved to the top of 5 hours or more.
And once again, means the error message that occurs after the command ipconfig / renew-"an error has occurred all releasing interface Loopback Pseudo Interface 1. The system cannot find the specified file. "- matter?
    Thank you.

Last question: no as long as your interface PHYSICS REAL releases and renewed.

When the lease expires, it repeats.  So why I said that, so that you can get an IP address, you would have to turn off your machine through several cycles and hope that someone else either did the same thing and light them before you do and get your old IP address or someone adds a new device after expiration of your lease and clears the memory cache (for the DHCP server) and happen them to get your old IP address When your device is turned off.

Most of the people will keep the same IP address from their ISP for years.

  • What is the impact of a change in LDAP service on existing vApps/models

I have a mature vCloud environment with several associations who authenticate using LDAP.  The current announcement that is used to authenticate users is retired so I need to change the LDAP service.  I intend to use the custom LDAP service, import users and re - assign properties of the object.  I'm afraid that once I have change the LDAP service and point to a new domain, the existing vApps and models will be deleted.  I temporarily change owners of vApps all to a local user as a placeholder.  I think it will work but as the models?  So I am not able to change the property of models will be deleted ones after I have remove the current LDAP users or will they deleted as soon as I change the LDAP service?  How to change LDAP service safely to point to the new domain without losing existing vApps/models?

    Thank you

    -Gerry

vApps go to expired, once storage lease has expired, and the Org is not configured to automatically remove storage lease expires.

vApps go to the stranded objects once deleted, but there is a failure out of reach of a user of Org.

Users go to lost if the account is removed from the LDAP source.

    You could do something like:

    1. search for all the objects owned by a user org

2 change the owner of a temporary account

    3. try to remove the user

4A. If the button Delete is successful, attempt to import LDAP (new ldap server)

4B. jump user name to review at a later date

    5. place all the objects belonged to the temporary user to user newly imported.

Once the script is running, you can run a copy by the body.

  • Why Windows 7 can not forced to use broadcast DHCP lease renewal?

I go to this Café for 11 years. He still has the same basic ADSL Wireless internet service (a former point of Wi - Fi connected to the internet via ADSL).

The ONLY way to communicate with the DHCP server in this broadcast wireless access point - applications for renewal of lease to the DHCP server via direct IP address are IGNORED. In addition to this, the assignment DHCP IP pool is rather small, so to compensate for the lease time DHCP is set to expire every 10 minutes. Is normally no problem, because an active DHCP client request a renewal of lease half the duration of the lease, or 5 minutes before the lease expires.

Here's my problem: I had my configuration of registry to force DHCP broadcast and everything was happy--UNTIL Microsoft decided to have an update to ADD a flag "toggle show" to the registry and make it impossible to substitute (so far, despite the kb928233 page that supposedly tells you how). Since then, I lose my DHCP lease (and so my internet connection) EVERY 10 MINUTES.

BTW, the page KB928233 has manual register of instructions that are so badly written that there are at least 2 or 3 different interpretations of these installation instructions. I tried at least 3 different interpretations of these instructions - none worked. A good part of the problem, it's that no examples were given of what the obtained key tree should look like in regedit.

I have invested at least 2 days in Google searches and various attempts to get these flags put back the right way - to nothing does not. If I can't understand how to solve this problem in 2 days of trying something is terribly wrong. Again, emphasis, it USED to WORK until someone decided to put in a windows update that broke.

What I want to know is: for a particular wireless connection how to force broadcast DHCP lease renewal. Some update in the last several months seriously broken, making it virtually impossible to force the broadcast mode.  Oh yes, it's an application for renewal of broadcast FINALLY - once THE CONNECTION has BEEN BROKEN! It is pointless - I just lost my transfer session or remote terminal file. I need to make the request in broadcasting until the lease ends.

  • BlackBerry Smartphone password expire in? days

    Hi gurus

I recently acquired a Bold 9700 and have set up a password for the device, but now I am regularly told that my password expire in so many days. I tried to find where to change this setting, but in vain.

Can someone tell me where I should be looking?

    Thank you

    Hello

Want to know where to change the password itself? Or where to change the password expiration (days) setting?

    For the password itself, see:

    • Article ID: KB00588 Security password for the BlackBerry smartphone

However, for the time-out setting, it's something completely different and not really controllable by the end user. So, first question... are you part of a BES environment? If so, then check with your BES admins they control it.

If you are not part of BES, then check this, you can:

    • Article ID: KB30076 How to check for an it on a BlackBerry smartphone policy

If there is an IT strategy and that you are not part of BES, so that that you got the device does not correctly clean up everything first. Reference:

    • Article ID: KB05099 Steps to take before selling or after the purchase of a used BlackBerry smartphone

If all the other steps necessary for the seller are completed, you can delete it strategy through this procedure:

    • Article ID: KB31291 How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory using BlackBerry Desktop Software Settings

If, in this context, you choose to do a backup/restore, and then not to do a full restore of your device that you saved before the ResetToFactory. On the contrary, do only a selective restore and specifically avoid restore databases that have to do with THIS, policy, business, or something else of that nature. If you restore those, he will dutifully restore it on the device policy, and you will be right back where you started.

Good luck and let us know!

  • Unable to set lease with ASD

I saw the property 'provider - VirtualMachine.LeaseDays "documented on various blogs as a way to define the lease if requested through REST or ASD."  I am using ASD and calling the RequestCatalogItem through a customized plan of action.  Using the command under 'VirtualMachine.LeaseDays' is defined as a custom property for the machine, but it does not seem to be applied correctly.  Regardless of the lease for the base model is what gets the value on the virtual machine.  Someone at - he found a solution for this?

    inputs.put ("provider - VirtualMachine.LeaseDays", new vCACCAFEIntegerLiteral (14) .getValue ());

Well well... that's an example of flow, and the script is documented.

He was running in all cases... but you want to understand and adapt the script to do what you want.

Basically, there is a workflow in the workflows library VCAC part that allows you to request a resource on a catalogresource operation.  You can literally just run it and provide the values... If you see the change of lease operation, then your service account for the plugin to vRA is correctly configured in your market to see the ChangeLease Action.  (it may be the only one he sees if you want)

Then you can create BOTH a new Action resource CUSTOM (provided that you have ASD... what you do in your case), to change the lease (with date constraints that do not appear in the course of the action of the box) AND use it as part of your workflow commissioning if you wish.

In both cases, you wish to provide inputs in the provided Library workflow that includes the CatalogResource (virtual machine), operation (lease change) and the property values for the operation.  (in this case, a datetime valid)

With the ResourceAction method, the user application for your of custom modifications, and then account service is a request for the rental of real change, passing by the values that you authorized in the original workflow, if it is valid.  So, you will see two applications in history.  One of the user.  A service account.

  • Query for all vApps expired using the REST API

    Hello

I'm not able to find the query that will return me a list of vApps expired. I see that there are in the result set for the VAPP models that have isExpired field, but this field is missing for the result set of vApp. Does anyone know how to achieve this, I have no need of vApps query by one?

    Thank you

    Tomas

The storage contract information is available only in the LeaseSettingsSection (aka LeaseSettingsSectionType), which I think is queryable by using the query service.

The only place where I see a request that might work is the adminVApp query that has an autoDeleteDate attribute that seems to be the ISO 8601 timestamp when the (storage) lease expires or expired. Although I can't make it work in a filter expression because there is no date comparison operators, so you have to know the specific value to match on...

  • That means "another device on the network use the IP address of your computer"?, that means "another device on the network is using the IP address of your computer?

That means "another device on the network use the IP address of your computer"?, that means "another device on the network is using the IP address of your computer?

    A

Most likely, the computer becomes a network address of a router. The assignment of an address ("lease") expires and must be renewed after a certain period of time, which could be an hour or a day. The lease expired without being renewed because the device has been disconnected at the time. Meanwhile, the address has been leased to another device on the network, or maybe the router has not updated its list of addresses the leases. When the device offline comes back online, a conflict results. Depending on the type of router you have, the conflict can resolve itself automatically. If not, then in the menu bar, select please

    ▹ System Preferences network ▹ 

If the preferences window is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Click the Advanced button, and then select the TCP/IP tab in the sheet that drops down. Look at the menu option

    Configure IPv4

If the selection in this menu is

    Using DHCP

    Click on the button

    Renew the DHCP lease

    Test.

Make sure that you have more than one DHCP server on the network. That could happen if you have more than one access point Wi - Fi, or if you have a router and broadband a wide device distinct in connection mode sharing.

    B

Less likely, you have a network address that you assigned yourself and another device is itself by assigning the same address. In this case, the selection to configure IPv4 menu will be either manually or using DHCP with manual address. This kind of conflict will not be resolved automatically. You have the following options to solve:

    1. Change the selection in menu using DHCP.
    2. Change the address assigned manually to one that is not used by another device.
    3. Change the address of the other device.

Which of these options you choose depends on the details of why you use a static IP address. Any changes you make to the network settings is necessary before taking effect. To do this, click OK, and then click apply.

If the router is also your device at wide band, then he may be operating in bridged mode. In this case, only one customer at a time will be able to connect to the Internet. Consult the manufacturer or ISP documentation for how to reconfigure the device in the connection mode sharing.

    C

According to a report a "DirectTV" receiver can cause the problem. If necessary, disconnect the device from the network, or power off and test. Consult the support services provider.

You have any ideas that could help me find an internet connection?  Thanks for any help.

The removal of the virus seems to have taken some required system files.  See if the System File Checker helps.  Click Start > run and enter in the field open.

    sfc/scannow

Press ENTER.  The System File Checker must detect the missing necessary files and put back them.  If this does not work, use a system restore point from before you were infected.  If this does not work, get out of your XP installation diskettes.
