  • Table of Cluster cluster type - Def

    Hi all

I know I've asked similar questions as this one before, but I need to ask again, since I'm still not satisfied with what I got.  Here's my problem:

I am converting an array of 16 elements in a cluster.  Then I fed this cluster in a cluster of type-def.  Basically, I'm trying to update my new values of cluster type-def will write another cluster with the same number of items inside.  All right, but I make it a point to stress.  If you do not already know, I hate the dowry of coercion.  Is there a way to get around this?  Thank you!

    Yik

Stick with the point. If you change you def code pauses to get your attention. If you use the type cast, it can hidethe broken wire and you give a very strange accident in a sub - VI that gets these data on the wire or in a different VI complete (summer does.) That's why I covered my head in the previous post. It took Aristos queue and his group to figure out that I had thrown type the wrong type of cluster in a VI breaking a dynamic VI when it came time to free a memory buffer).

Points of coercion of the biggest concern when has with tables since they cast upward in a type number (u8 to U32) cannot be done in place and requires a copy of the buffer. Arrays can have large buffer duplication is bad. In the case of clusters and type def vs non - typ def a dowry is just an FYI.

PS Plese non-identiques post time for the same message.

PPS LV train teaching of stress points are bad. If you take a certification test, forget what we say until after you pass, then still remember when you spent.

  • Cluster Type def. array of cluster Type def vs. -best practices?

Hi all, I'm creating a cluster which is used inside tables throughout my code, of course, I'll need to group and ungroup it several times. My question is:

Which is preferable? Defining the type def as a cluster, and then add it to a table where it is needed? or by defining the type def as an array of this cluster? It seems to me that it would be preferable to define the type as cluster so def when you group or ungroup it you don't need to index the table first, right?

    Thank you

    Agreed.

I rarely type tables def but almos always type the cluster that I put in them.

  • Multiple cluster type def not updated

I combined group A and Group B with beam by name in Group C.  Group C is spent in a state machine in a shift register.   In some States, there are subvis with Group C as input.  All clusters are of type-def,

When I change from Group A, I would expect Cluster C to update as well, but it became broken.  Why is this?

  • How to place a (strict) reference of a cluster in a control of Type def?

Example usage: for example queue message handler it is holding cluster of the references to the controls and lights on the front panel.

I have a cluster of façade of type-def'ed, I need to add to this cluster of references.

In the typedef for the controls on the front panel (above), I place a control refnum then
    Make a right click-> Select the class Vi Server-> generic-> GObject-> control->-> Cluster Cluster.

However, this does not produce a typedef of strict type I need.

    How I handled this?

I managed to place controls in the cluster of typedef of common simple types (numbers, strings, etc.) by placing a refnum control in the cluster and (for the reference of control chain)
    Make a right click-> Select the class Vi Server-> generic-> GObject-> control-> String-> String
Think it works because they do not need to be strictly typed.

Delete an instance of your cluster type def on the FP, then drag it to the referance.

  • An array of type cast to the cluster

Is there a real difference between 'table of cluster' function, and simply type casting to a cluster?  The image below shows a simple example.  Apart from providing the names of each element of the cluster, type cast function automatically sets the size of cluster, which is a nice feature when you work with a typedef.  I really wonder if there is any downside to type casting when elements of array and cluster are the same type of data.

    Thanks in advance.

Type casting man knows where I live, so my opinion is biased.  When I have to do such a conversion, which is hardly ever, but does not match ever, so I'm going with the Type Cast.  You hit the bigger points, meaningful labels and ease to spend six to seven to eleven elements with Type FED.  When I do this conversion it is usually because I have to do a magic of property whose tables do not permit (all components need to share properties with the exception of value).  Creating a table of function control Cluster is say a Clusterflop, according to the Type casting, exactly what I'm looking for.  In addition, table in the Cluster service performs a code obfuscation, is always maintained at 9 elements, and otherwise must disappear, or at least that:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW-idea-exchange/remove-default-behavior-from-array-to-cluster/Idi-p/17...

First of all, ask yourself if you really should do this, if the answer is Yes, then I say Cast of Type.

  • How it happened and how to prevent it: type def cluster change causes the element starts up again

    Hi all

I have a big nested type nested def cluster, several layers.  I have remove the clusters to use the feature "name" to use it.

Somehow changing the def of big type causes unlustered elements starts up again.

For example, the element is the element clustered and used, then after I modified the def type, I don't remember how, maybe remove some items, perhaps rename elements, then the element where B is the unlustered element and used.

It is very scary because it just happened automatically and no broken error reported and this can spoil the entire application.

It happen to someone else? How to prevent it?

    Many thanks for any help.

A search on 'Ben', 'cluster' 'type def' to see that I've been bitten in the same way.

The earch will reveal the various things that have been suggested according to the version of LV

First rule of ben from cluster

Avoid like the plague by deleting or renaming items.

    Other stuff:

If you need to remove an item, change its representation to something that will break all instances for example change digital chain. Then go all the broken VI difficulty by throwing all the refs for the field you want to delte. And then delete.

in the LV ealier version, better all the screws that use clusters that open when the change is made.

In the recent version that neither recommended edititng cluster with all the appellants closed with the theory being that LV handles better the opening of VI.

Given that I am "Of Ben first rule of the cluster" I don't run in the bug often with LV 2009.

  • Typ - Constant Def reset the cluster

    Hi all

Ahhhhhh...  I have a table of cluster type - def with a lot of elements in each cluster.  I created a vi, in which I have delcared a 20 items with the specified values (a vi that contain values of constant).  I made a change minor in my type - def, and had reset all values I entered.  How to avoid that in the future?  THX!

    Yik

One thing you can do is to create a "initialize" sub - VI for your typedef, which the desired default values (specified as constants on the block diagram of the Subvi) wires in places appropriate.  The output of the Subvi would be your typedef, containing the default values.

    Who is?

    Here is a picture...

That's what would contain your Subvi "initialize".

  • error "the type of the sink is zero.

I just made a change to a subvi to move terminal input. Control is a cluster type-def of 33 items. Everything that was done was to disconnect the Terminal in the connector sub - vi pane and move it to a different slot. Now when I try to rewiring of the sub - vi I get a cut wire and an error message "you have connected two terminals of different types. The type of the source is typedef ' Blah.ctl 'cluster of 33 items. The type of the sink is zero. This happens even if I click on terminal of the sub - vi of the upper vi and "create a control. The control is created successfully, but the wire is broken with this error message. Curiously, if I go to the subvi, create and identical order, wire to the open, the problem of the upper echelon is resolved. I tried to change the connector pane selection, forcing a repeat, no joy. I also tried to save everything and restart LabVIEW (v 2010 on Windows XP), got a "there was an error in the last run LabVIEW (fpsane) or want to solve problems. I get the error 'silent' crazy corrupt sub - vi?

"Tough luck" Seems I've corrected, but don't know how. I added the second terminal, it didn't fix it. LabVIEW, rebooted, no error message at startup. When I open the the original broken wire broken vi was no longer there, but there was still a broken arrow. Clicking on it showed a "phantom wire' connected from the most recently added (add entry only to try to duplicate a previous"fix") connected to a Terminal unallocated. Have not seen this before.

  • If I rearrange items in a cluster typedef will all beams and separate also be rearranged?

I have a fairly large project that is more and more big and I need to add some more to my cluster type-def. I want to reorganize the cluster, mainly for cleanliness but also so similar thing are grouped. If I do this will each bundle by name and ungroup by name also be re-ordered? Or do I go through each subvi and fix all the broken wires and the clusters that are now connected to the wrong items manually?

If you are using only group by name and unbundled by name, you don't have any problems. I did it several times. I always generally work by using a project if the screws are loaded, but I did it even in the case when the elements are not responsible and have not run into any problems. If you use the Basic Pack and unbundle you can run into trouble. BTW, I certainly have not be as careful as nathand.

  • update of the components of the cluster transit

Today, I wrote a recursive VI (my first!) which updates the items between groups where clusters named elements in common.

Background: I have a test architecture I am developing where each step-test configuration, a cluster is stored in a file. If the cluster configuration changes for a test, I would like to be able to load the old values of configuration for the new test. Usually this group will be the same, but it can have new items or items that have been deleted.

The VI is based on certain functions varying OpenG. The challenge here was to deal with nested groups, and it has been managed by recursion. The VI has shared value clone reentrancy and data of cluster in the main cluster types are managed in a call environment in VI. It's an elegant solution!

I'd like some comments on this code: are there ways it could be improved? The corner cases, I have not covered?

I've updated my code, which is now robust to missing cluster - group.

  • typedef cluster is not correctly updated

    Hi all

I'm new to the use of typedef controls so I hope that I just forgot something simple.  I use a consistent control of cluster in Labview 8.6 typedef in listed controls and some digital controls.  I noticed that when I change the cluster typedef, it will not correctly refresh on VI in which it is used.  A specific example, which has been driving me crazy:

I decided that I need to change a control listed within the cluster so that its name is more descriptive and it has more options.  Open the typedef command, change the name and add two elements to change the items... Save and close.

Now, when I opened the main VI that I use, I see that the name of the enumerated control has updated, but the new list items are missing.  Because the automatic update is enabled, I can't click apply changes, because they were technically already updated.  To work around this problem, I have to remove the control from typedef and add new.

Because the name is updated, I know that it is properly connected.  I did something wrong when ordering typedef?  I have attached the control itself, although I doubt this will help.

    Thank you.

It'snot updated because you have not listed in your cluster types - they are all the controls of the ring which, by their design, do not automatically update when the typedef is changed.

  • WebDAV, and type last modified information file empty

I use LV2013 SP1 and working to replace the existing features of FTP with WebDAV.

For this task, I need to get a list of files (*.tdms) on the RT (cRIO) and allow the user to select those for the transfer.

My current method of FTP displays the name, date of & size in a list for sorting and selection box.

No matter if I use synchronous or asynchronous WebDAV live to retrieve a list of directory, cluster type last modified info files elements and are empty.  The RT has installed Server WebDAV 13.5.0 .

I noticed that the type is filled for text (text/plain) files, but modified is always empty.

I'm guessing that there is no such thing as the MIME type of the TDMS files?  I do not need this information for sorting.

However, the modified information is very important for my applications & users to sort the list of files.

This can be a problem with all the parameters of the RT or missing software?

Thanks for any suggestions and assistance.

    Hi SajeevPynadath

    1

First start the server process with "cache - server.cmd".

    2

After that, you can start another process of client or server, the 'coherence.cmd' script is to start a client process to join the cluster.

    3

So now you have 2 processes, and your cluster.xml will look like this:

    171.193.103.25

    8088

    171.193.103.25

    8089

    4

Before you begin each remember process java command line:

    for server

    -Dtangosol.coherence.localhost =171.193.103.25 - Dtangosol.coherence.localport = 8088

    for the customer

    -Dtangosol.coherence.localhost =171.193.103.25 - Dtangosol.coherence.localport = 8089

    Kind regards

  • What is the most modular method to create a 'plan' generated automatically?

I have a 'plan' that I am currently building a test at the beginning. My "plan" consists of 3 levels of the Organization; the unit, the Group and the arrangement.

There are a few types of units that I intend to create, but I'm looking for only a few basic methods; I can shake the details in regards to specific controls, resizing, positioning, etc.

    There may be<= 4="" units="" per="">

There are 4 positions in each arrangement; one for each possible unit.

    There may be<=20 groups="" in="" the="">

There is only a single arrangement; the arrangement is the entire floor plan.

Each unit is composed of some Boolean LEDs, progress bars, graphs of waveform and digital indicators.

Each group is simply an arrangement of units; with an indicator of string as a label.

The arrangement (floorplan itself) is just an arrangement of groups.

I considered simply create typedefs for each control so that I can change or resize each if necessary control and have the changes automatically cascading, but is there a way for me to create a typedef for each unit, although it contains several controls? Within the unit, all controls will have a size and position, so it would be nice to be able to resize and rearrange the controls in the unit and have all these changes cascade to all units. It would also avoid having to define the positions of each control for each unit (I could just define the position of each unit).

I've attached a screenshot of the arrangement (floorplan) .jpg because it currently displays. You can see that inside, there are 8 groups (labeled SX #) and 4 groups of different type (labelled RC #). Within each group, SX, there are 3 units (with a color box gray placeholder where a 4th unit could display).

I know my questions can be very basic and obvious to experts on this forum, but I have very little training LV, so I am left to my own here.

Thank you for taking the time to read my message; I hope it is at least as clear as mud.

You can create a definition of a cluster type and a cluster can contain several data types.  That answer your question?
