CMOS Checksum Error Inspiron 570

Recently, we had a power failure where the power came from top to bottom.  Once the power was restored, I turned on the computer and displays an error message (forgot exactly what he says) but there were two options (I think) F2 and F12.

I searched online for this error message and it seems to indicate an issue that could be resolved by clearing the CMOS.

So I removed the battery, set the jumper CMOS clear, waiting 30 minutes, put the jumper back and put the battery back in.   The message I saw was gone, but in its place, I get this message:

CMOS Checksum Error
Press F2 to start the INSTALLATION
Press F1 to load default values and continue

However, pressure on one of the buttons does nothing as if the keyboard entry is not registered.

I tried another keyboard - no change.

I tried a different battery - no change.

I tried to use a barrette of ram - no change.

There are no beeps at startup.

What else can I try?

Thank you

You may need to replace the motherboard.

If the failure was the fault of your electricity company, they pourraient have insurance to cover the repair...

Please guide me in detail for him.

The first thing to check and change if you do not already have is the CMOS BIOS battery.

It depends on the type of PC (desktop computer/laptop) and the brand and model. Search the support site of manufacturers for your brand/model of PC for all the guides.

However, as a rule - http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000239.htm no need to download anything, just read as a guide. Note the static precautions etc.

    Hallo,

I own a G1 F7Y99EA 350 HP, (shipped with BIOS version f.13, via the latest version of the BIOS HP is f.12!)

Every time after that the power is off (whether it's battery or simply remove the battery) I get the CMOS checksum error (502) with reset. After the reset, everything works perfectly fine, I have to change date & time, otherwise a few software goes crazy.

I run win7 pro x 64 and my system is in good condition, checked with the HP Support Assistant and HP Instant Support Professional Edition (online tool from HP). I installed the drivers from the Intel Rapid Storage Technology technology and HP 3D keep.

I also have a boot mSata SSD (120 GB mS200 Kingston). The 750 GB drive only for data (no OS on this subject).

    Any ideas, suggestions?

    Hello

Have you tried to access the BIOS and tried to set it to default settings?
    Isn't it? Do this!

By pressing the F2 key, you would be able to access the BIOS. Set the BIOS back to default settings and set up.
Then start the laptop again and check if the same notification will appear on the screen.

Generally 'bad checksum' error message if the CMOS battery does not work correctly.

    Hello again cienerose,

If you type the F10 at startup and nothing is happening on your computer (you don't get in your BIOS) then the problem you describe seems to be a physical problem, and I think it would be better if you contact HP Support for service options.

  • System cmos checksum bad - default configuration used.

    Original title;

    HP 9000 - boot errors

that means the following errors and how to fix: 0271 - check date and time settings and 0251 - checksum cmos bad system - default configuration used.

    Hi Joseph,.

Since when are you facing this problem?

The CMOS Checksum Bad error that is displayed depends on the type of BIOS used. One of these error conditions indicate that failure of a test of Basic Input/Output System (BIOS).

There are two main reasons why fails a test of the BIOS:

    · The battery on the motherboard has lost its ability to provide energy. Date and time system are also affected by a defective battery.

    · The BIOS has been updated "evil." This can happen if the power is lost by updating the BIOS, or update the BIOS with an update that was not downloaded from HP, or when a virus or malware modifies the BIOS data.

To resolve this error, use one of the following sections provided by HP.

Note: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

If your PC always shows errors about the clock or CMOS when starting the PC, the CMOS battery on the motherboard probably needs to be replaced.

Alternatively, you can contact HP for help.

A couple of days, I turned on my laptop (product number: G6Q88UA-#ABA) to see a black screen with white text saying he had a (502) BIOS Checksum error and press ENTER to reset the values and continue with my system startup. Once, I have to update to the current time. As the days passed, I noticed that I was unable to turn on my laptop without plugging it into the wall, and disconnect it would cause my computer turn off and therefore lost all of my work (and time settings). My poking around led me to him or the other being the CMOS battery, or a corrupted BIOS. I believe that my BIOS is up to date, and my model does not appear to be a CMOS battery.  Can anyone help? • Missing network adapter Inspiron 570

    Hi people...

I regularly work as a volunteer for several non-pour win here in Topeka and I am experienced enough with computers, but have an I can't solve.    We have an Inspiron 570 which does not connect to the internet... There is no NIC in Device Manager, and then I downloaded and installed the drivers from the Dell website.   One of the facilities has failed... error message says "cannot continue because the device (NIC) is not available.        I guess I could buy a USB Ethernet adapter and go from there, but is not where this darn network card have or where he might be or how to fix it.    His otherwise a very good computer that needs this 501 c 3 bad since its one of their best computers.

  • HP Pavilion dv2700 laptop displays the message "system CMOS checksum failed" every time you start

    Hi @all,

I have a HP Pavilion dv2700 - kh933ea laptop computer #abv (it is a HP Pavilion dv2799ee Special Edition Entertainment Notebook PC to be exact) that displays the message "system CMOS checksum failed. Press F1 to continue"every time you start the system. My OS is Windows 7 / 32 bit.

Then I updated my BIOS to version 2.4e, 01-dec-08 Phoenix (the SMBIOS version remained the same before 2.4), but the issue is not resolved. I have attached a screenshot for processor and BIOS versions.

Can someone guide me on how to solve this problem?

Thank you very much in advance.

I don't see the screenshot of your post attachments. Please repost them.

This error message means that WHAT BIOS is damaged. You will need to have the BIOS flashed in a mobile shop, repair a BIOS or an HP Service Center. Do a search online with Google or Bing repair for a BIOS.  If you keep trying to update the BIOS there will come a time where everything you have a black screen.

  • Desktop M8000 giving Bios Rom Checksum Error

    Hello

My brother-in-law gave me their old tower to see if I could not going again for their children to use, the decent machine actually, he had 2 internal hard drives in it and he said it was more than ever and lock up often.

The pc don't was not start (sitting at an empty screen) even if it had worked before, so the first thing I did was to remove the two hard drives and their hung outside for my main pc, he said, I wanted to see if they were healthy and if they had the virus on them, etc.

Health check, past, defragmented both drives them (OMG they were horrible) and on the storage disk ran a virus scan and spyware scan (zero problems) spybot seek and destroy and completely updated avast updated etc.

On the main C drive, I did Defrag, ran the spybot captured about 10 things mostly of cookies, nothing horrible, then ran avast, it is 17 things in temporary files, remove hit at the end of the scan, re ran the scans and it came out clean.

Then the two drives are checked as work/healthy, defragmented, virus and spyware cleaning, put it back in the system and I still get the screen white, but maybe 1 out of 10 times I get

    BIOS Rom Checksum Error

    Detection Decivce IDE ATAPI

    Detection Decivce IDE ATAPI

    Detection Decivce IDE ATAPI

Found the CDrom, boot from it...

But no matter what I (F-keys, deletion etc.) I can't get the pc to answer or do anything.

I also removed and then re-inserted the cmos battery thought he could do something to help her back running but no luck, I have a new battery to install to try it but thought to take a few minutes of waiting and re - install could lead to something.

These values of 12 volts out worrying par.2 1 tension or limits?

The unit announces it will sound in case of errors, I get no flow in the readings or beeps, I just wanted to confirm on this.

Cuz at this point, I checked the ram, hd, battery changed, makes the integrated reset cmos jumper option, but I don't always get anywhere then I suppose that its cpu or motherboard at this stage.

Hello FTLOSM, reads that you list are fairly normal. A difference of one or two points on the readings should not be a problem, especially if the power supply is connected and powered. The 12 volt rails are mainly used for engines on the disks, so a small difference in the actual 12 volts would be well within tolerances. If 3.3 volts reading falls below 3 volts, then I'd be concerned.

I would tend to think that the motherboard is the culprit, since it is rare that a processor will fail under normal circumstances.

It usually takes a voltage spike to get a processor.

  • Inspiron 570 Factory Reset Win 7 SP1 desktop PC

My Inspiron 570 Deskto was slow. I decided to do a factory reset. I backed up all my important files first. Then my pc got worse. It wouldn't boot.   I ran the diagnostics (F12) and he said I had bad sectors. Then I tried to do a factory reset (F8) I followed all the steps, but nothing happened. Now, the only way to run commands in windows is through CMD.

    I need help please.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Please let us know the exact error code that arises during the diagnosis.

If the code was 0142 or 0146 or DST smart test failed, then the HD is faulty and should be replaced.

If the sectors are corrupted, then factory reset and windows installation will help only to a certain extent.
