The registry cannot load the HIVE (file). \System ROOT-SYSTEM 32-CONFIG-SOFTWARE or its log or alternate. It is damaged, missing, or not accessible in writing. "So, back to my main issue, I guess. How can I fiw it without any sort of disk recovery or boot disk etc... I know I could probably go buy some sort of recovery software, but can't afford it right now. Can someone help me, please?

  You have all the Norton/Symantec products installed and if so, do you know which ones and versions?

  You start with a chkdsk/r from the XP Recovery Console.

  Here's how:

  If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

  This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.

  You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

  The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

  It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

  You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

  When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

  Press any key to boot from CD...

  Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

  Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

  Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

  You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

  A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

  In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

  Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

  Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

  CHKDSK C: /r

  Secondly - I installed a new program that came with a new camera.  I have loaded the software but when I try to open it states the following:
  "The program cannot start because MSVCP71.dll absent from your computer."  Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem.

  I reloaded the program several times and this message continues to invent whenever I try to run the software.

  I believe that these two issues are related.

  I have now solved the problem by using the BCDBoot command, but it took a week of research and a lot of trail and error, while I have it might have solved the first day if the BCDBoot instructions above had been better.

  Here are the BCDBoot instructions above:

  1. press SHIFT + F10 when you are in the screen install Windows, elevated to the starting command prompt will now open.
  2. type DISKPART command
  3. Enter the command LIST VOLUME, note volume don't...
  4. Enter the command SELECT VOLUME 'no' (eg1, 2, 3) mine was 3
  5. Enter the command ASSIGN LETTER = Z and OUTPUT
  6 enter the BCDBoot c:\Windows /s f: UEFI z: command
  7. close and restart.

  Here are my suggestions for improvement:

  Point 3. above: the statement: "Note volume no....". "is useless, because it gives no indication of what are the criteria to use. I thought initially that files would be copied from the dvd of recovery on the c drive, so I noted the volume for drive c. In fact, the files are copied from the c drive, so the volume no note is one containing the BCD files used at startup, which is different. It is not obvious to me how to choose the correct volume. I guessed that it was volume 2 on my Dell laptop (labeled something like ESP or EPS) and which proved correct. Otherwise, it's trial and error again.

  Point 5. above: it should be two lines, as there are has two separate orders to enter.

  Point 6. above: I think that the two points between f and UEFI should not be there.

  I hope that these suggestions are useful to other people, assuming they notice that there is a Page 2.

  I have a goal to see some fields of Fuji-specific metadata in Lightroom. I can see these when I run Fuji by Exiftool files from the command line. I would like to be able to filter and research on them. (Before you go, if anyone knows of an existing plugin that will import the EXIF Exiftool arbitrary, please let me know.)

  I can write a metadata custom for this plugin. Definition of custom fields and tagset is clear for me. I've done this before. What is not clear to me is to know how to trigger the code that parses the files for metadata, and imports. Can I get the user to do so manually by choosing images, then using a menu option - it's easy. Is it possible to automatically invoke instead? You say, when the files are imported?

  Other opinions on how this could work smoothly are welcome. Thank you

  There used to be an ExifMeta plugin that would automatically synchronize one or more fields of image metadata custom in the catalog, available for viewing, filtering, and research.   Unfortunately, the developer has disappeared, as well as its plugins, about 1.5 years ago.

  The Data Explorer plugin allows you to view and search for fields of arbitrary metadata accessible to Exiftool.  But you have to run it manually whenever you want to display the current values.

  What is not clear to me is to know how to trigger the code that parses the files for metadata, and imports.

  The plugin must have a background task (or tasks) that runs periodically and checks new files and files that have changed since the last time it extracted their metadata.  This can be done quite effective, but it takes effort.

  The background task can scan the new photos using the catalogue: getAllPhotos() and comparing the result with the last time he called it.   I guess that every 5 seconds would not consume any noticeable CPU.  It could be implemented in 10 or 20 lines.

  If you care about the plugin noticing changes made to the metadata of files once they have been imported into LR (for example because an external application changed), it would be harder to do in a reasonable time.  The plugin can save the modification date of the metadata for a photo file whenever it extracted metadata.  The background would periodically scan all the pictures in the catalog, search for files whose current modification date is more recent than that recorded in the custom metadata.   I don't have a good idea for the cost of CPU that it would impose, but I guess you could probably do 10 files per second without significant load.  This would mean that it would take several hours to sweep a catalog of files of 100K.   (Windows and OS X have mechanisms to notify applications of changes to the file system, but these mechanisms are not available through the SDK of course).

  With more complexity, you might also have a background task that periodically uses catalog: findPhotos() to run the smart collection criteria "Medata status is changed on the disk or the status of metadata is detected conflict."  This would be grafted onto the mechanism from LR to notice that files have changed and that he would be very low cost. You can run this query every few seconds without significant impact.  However, there is a chance that this task would be to miss a few modified photos, for example if the user did metadata > read metadata file before the task had a chance to see the file has changed.  So, you would still need the task that periodically scans all the photos in the catalog.

  I never asked the developer to ExifMetadata exactly what he did on this point, but I'm guessing that something similar.

  We did some optimization on loading script such as second time to the same script will take time.

  The current page with the script load time, is similar to what you see on Google Chrome as well.

• DW all converted 5.5 code in my file (s)

  I just upgraded to 5.5 5 and now when I open the files, code view loses all organizing pretend, and I find myself with a mess of code that looks like the attached photo. It was once a well-organized .css file. Now it's a MESS. Any ideas on why or how to prevent it from happening with other files? It has happened to a number of files and I'm afraid to continue to use it for fear of having to flip through it. Once they turn into disorder, they do not seem to come back.

  I have seen it happen to files .css and .php, .html so far.
