Cold backup / recovery for OEM grid

Hi friends,

OEM 10.2.0.5
RHEL 4.6

How can you Clone or backup OEM Grid (server (WHO), agent and database management repository)?
disaster?
They are all under our dir X11R6 server. If I have a backup of my/home/oracle external tape or a disc,
and ithappened my OEM server crashed and it cannot be fixed. Then, we buy another server
with the same specs and OS. Then copy/download the backup. How can I start it? Like the original installation?

Thank you very much.

Ms. K

Hi, you can take hot rman backup of repository database. To who and the agent backup you can simply resume the mount point to me. In case of disaster, you can recover from a backup, but make sure that this host name is same otherwise you will have to reinstall OMS.

  • Lenovo sells discs of backup/recovery for laptops?

I bought my Lenovo Ideapad U310 late 2014, and I was stupid enough to not create a disk backup or recovery, when I used it first. I'm afraid that my computer may be infected by malware, and so I want to erase the whole hard drive. But I don't have a recovery disk. So I was wondering if anyone knows if Lenovo sells, and if they do, they have them for specific laptop models?

    Altogether.

  • Cold backup RMAN

Basically I ask this question for a problem surrounding in another thread, but here go us:

Suppose we take a COLD backup. I know, not something directly related with RMAN, but further action is:

This guy says: I take a backup to cold, I copy the files to another server, on which he has made the necessary in order to start this database.

But then, since the backup and the time of the action above, time is up.

So, there are archived redologs... because the database is in archivelog mode.

And he wants to do what is obvious: use these Redos archived, to update the database at a later stage in time.

To be clear; the Oder archived are created by the source database. The target database has been copied and started, nothing else.

If the backup is a backup hot, without issue. But because the backup is cold, it is not possible, right?

My idea is that he must also take a hot backup, in addition.

I asked already, and despite the execution of the database in archivelog mode, the backup must be taken cold, backup mode for some reason. It is probably the old method, who they now want to just add redolog recovery, but without change from cold to hot.

At some point, RMAN must be running, of course.

I guess that RMAN is used for the entire operation, not "at some point" (I see no reason not to).

The cold food at the start is to make a clone. THEN, the question is asked, but can we also restore to a point more recent in time?

Yes, you can recover the "clone" until a more recent point in time as long as you do not OPEN it, and you have all necessary archivelogs. The sequence:

    1 startup nomount

    2 restore controlfile

    3. change the editing of the database

4 restore your cold backup (do not open the database)

    5. If necessary, catalogue archivelog backups

6 back to the desired point in time

    7. alter database open resetlogs.

But I repeat, why did you stop your databases, if that is not necessary? (of course I think of my dozens of databases 24 x 7).

  • Using more of a VMWare backup recovery

    Hi all

I'm sitting here und think next idea:

We have 10 servers that must be saved. We use a VDR (VM Backup Recovery) for this. Thus, sometimes the catalog crashes and it takes neerly a day to fix it. While this time I can´t of backup or restore anything.

These backups are on the same SAN as my ESX machines. So I have the big problem, if everything crashes (raid or more than 1 HDD) I have no chance to recover anything.

Yes, I know that this is not 100% optimal. either way... we have no money to buy a second SAN!

the idea was to develop an other VDR and connect it to a Terastation. Speed is absolutely secondary. This VDR would save computers same like the first VDR. (not at the same time, for example SQL Server is saved on VDR1 on VDR2 and 06:00 on 09:00)

    The biggest would be:

-If VDR 1 catalog crashes, VDR2 works and I can fix the VDR1 without missing the backups or recoveryoptions

-If my STI SAN crashing, I can use my Terastation to fix everything (the speed is secondary)

What do you think of this idea?

    Good bye

    Andy

You can define 2 different backup locations in a single device. So you can save on Monday for the first location and Tuesday for the second and so on. When an integrity check runs more than 24 hours, you have the second location-data store to restore on the same device operations. If you have enough backup-time, you can also save each VM twice in one day in two places at different times. In the event of a disaster you will be lucky and maybe lose only a location of data store and have all your backups without waitiing for the completion of the audit of integrity or something as a recataloguer. Up to now this works very well in my environment with 5 appliances and 180 VM. I use no more than 30 virtual machines for a single device, because integrity, check runs throughout.

  • I can't install OEM Grid control on the client computer?

    Hello
I have two instances of database (11g). I would like to install Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control they manage. Can I install OEM Grid Control on the client machine, or just on the server, where are instances of database?

    Thanks awfully for help.
    Concerning

    Hello

You can install OEM Grid control on a separate server.

But remember that for OEM grid control, you need a database in the repository. This repository can be on the server used for the OMS (Oracle Management Service) or on a separate server:

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11857_01/install.111/e15838/overview.htm#CJAHHFEA

In any case, it must be aware that Oracle, Oracle Management Service and the repository Agent must be able to communicate with each other and to use specific Ports.

So be sure that these Ports are open and free to use.

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11857_01/install.111/e16847/firewalls.htm#i1005951

    Hope this helps.

  • Request for the GRID CONTROL

I want to install the GRID CONTROL on the top of this facility. For this I install OMA (Oracle Management Agent) first.

Yes, you can install OMA and I suggest you to install the agents of 11G because they are now available and have additional options. Version of the agent does not depend on the version of database. An agent can monitor all the Oracle database versions (depending on the version of the agent).

For the certification of the official follow-up of targets, see note MOS:

Auditor Certification Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control [ID 412431.1]

What is your version of SGD also?

OMA officer does not autonomous and you need to have an OEM grid control installed before you install the agent on a target server.

    For OEM grid, please see:

  • Need for clarification for cold backup and restore

    Hi all...

I have a lot of confusion about the cold backup and restore section.

Already I posted a scanario this topic and I would like to know a few points of clarity to understand.

    1. I had cold backup two days before
    2. I create an object * (EMP) * and inserting some records can deliver log switch continiously.
    3. manually I deleted all the physical files (data files, files of control, files, papers, redolog files)
    4. then I published STARTING FORCE MOUNT;
    5. in this case, I get error identification control file.
    6. cold two days before all of the restored files backup
    6 then I run database recovery using backup controlfile until cancel;
    7. I'm issuing select * from emp; I get error
    select * from EMP
    * ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    my QUESTION IS

After that cold backup is complete, I created the table emp...
during the restoration of old back "there is no emp table"

    * - Then I can retrieve table emp? -If Yes, please explain about this... *.

    Note: REF - LINK https://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=11056341#11056341

-Link above says what I did? In this thread, I ask you to concept and logic...

Please, consider NOT like ' * DOUBLE. "

Not sure why you're confusing this issue? In your other thread, you applied a backup who had two days and there is no evidence that you apply to this log file to archive that had the table create in it. So if you have not restored this log file to archive who had your create table command, it will not be recovered. The most important for you to understand, it's that you have to have the newspaper the point for which you want to retrieve other archiving your recovery will not be able to move forward.

I have a 32 GB flash drive I used to create a recovery for my Aspire S7 backup using Windows 8.1. I understand that in creating this backup everything on the flash drive is deleted before creating backup. Can I now use this drive for other purposes, e.g., pilots and backup applications, pictures, documents, etc., or this flash drive now should he remain dedicated to the sole purpose of being a backup recovery?

I keep as a backup to dedicated recovery flash drive and use one for drivers & applications.

It is always wise to keep the recovery discs, as well as the recovery disks. Flash memory is quite inexpensive for the moment!

  • Restore from backup cold without recovery

Hi, I need to take a cold backup of my database before moving forward with various updates to restore on this point if everything goes wrong.

I tried to test this first by closing the database, editing and then back up the database.

I then start the DB, make various updates to day, then stop and go up. I restore the database and then try to open but it says recovery is necessary. Why is this? I have a consistent backup. If I go ahead and to recover the database and then its fine, but it takes up all the changes I want.

Im running 11.2 in log mode archive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Measures for cold backup...

    Hello

I am new to DBA, I take a cold backup, some can help me what are all the steps (orders) that I must follow to complete the successful backup of cold.

    Thanks in advance
    Suresh

    Hey Rafi,

    I have a question...

I'm on SPARC UNIX machine and oracle 11.1.0.7
I did a similar thing for my machine...

I copied all the files: data files, log files and control to another point of editing files.
    say/u_old / / u_new /.

Now I restarted the database... Although there is no activity happening in the database, alert always new files are generated.

Now my goal is to go all out/u_old / / u_new /. In other words, the database should now work from this point of mounting instead of this one.

What are the steps that I use?

They would include the steps of cloning the database:

    1 stop immediately;
    2. modify the pfile to the location of the control file, modify the control file to put the new information for the database.
    3. bootable media;
    4. Alter database rename all data files.
    5. starting

    Basically, all of these steps:

It would be the only process?

    Hello

I don't think that you can clone the grid itself, but you can use it to clone ORACLE_HOMEs, databases, officers... etc.

Oracle Enterprise Manager search result: Clone
    http://www.Oracle.com/pls/em102/search?word=clone&format=ranked&remark=quick_search

You could log an SR to verify this with the support of the Oracle.
