  I restarted my netbook once after trying in vain to change my background, and suddenly the taskbar, the start menu and all the windows that I raise look old, like Windows 98-style. I searched "themes" and got "Change color scheme" on a result. All that was there were four options of "High contrast" and "classic Windows". I googled the problem and a solution I found was to do EXACTLY what I did... except on the menu they showed, there was a color scheme option "Windows 7 Basic" in the same menu. I guess it has been deleted in the menu scheme of color somehow; is it possible to restore it?

  I know that this could be solved more easily if you had access to the personalization Gallery to choose the basic theme.  Unfortunately, it is not included in Windows 7 Starter.  My best for you right now would be the system restore, restore your system configuration "in time" to before the beginning of the question.

  Please note that the system restore only restores the backup copies of the key system files and run a system restore will lose not or "roll back" any of your files, emails, documents, photos, or anything else.  In addition, if you run the restore and you don't like the results for some reason, you can cancel it immediately.  All the restoration takes about 3 minutes.

  To start, type in the word "Restore" in your search box on your Start menu.

• Help to change my color scheme for a change when I open a game.

  Hi, so I'm not sure everyone will understand this, as it is difficult to explain. Basically, I went to my control panel and began to remove extra * I didn't, but I'm quiet sure, I accidentally deleted something really, I shouldn't have. After that I tried to play minecraft, and I got a message saying I needed java runtime 1.5.0 entertainment so I went and downloaded, I then opened minecraft again and now it says that the color scheme has been changed to basic windows. I have mods, (nodus) downloaded as minecraft and I deleted the whole folder and re downloaded minecraft, and it worked without mods, although the coloud schema has changed again. but I re downloaded mods and it did not work. That before I deleted things worked just like regular like normal minecraft. Also, I am completely UN able to open my google chrome, nothing comes even to the top, even with a few other programs. I have absolutely no idea what is going, or what I deleted, pleeeease help me.

• Satellite L350 - drive DVD Toshiba turns off my color scheme

  Hi all. I use a Satellite L350 with Vista Home Basic.

  According to the instructions on the help page of DVD player I have the color scheme defined in Windows Vista Standard and the display settings to the highest (32 bit), but DVD player insists on changing the Windows Vista Basic color scheme.

  I have looked through the settings for DVD playback, but could not find something that looks like it could remedy this. Everyone knows this or knows how to fix it?

  Hey Buddy,

  I don t use a reader DVD Toshiba but have you tested another software? You can use VLC media player for example. He plays a lot of audio and video files and it freeware tool. I like it a lot because it of smaller and faster than other players.

  You also see "Windows Aero"? It should be at the top of the list. If so, select it, and then click APPLY. Wait for it to change. > click OK when done change Windows Aero.
  Now click on "window color and appearance", you will see the back color palette.

• Windows Vista Basic: Color scheme is missing

  A few minutes earlier, I put my computer to sleep for 30 minutes and then when I turned it back on, I saw that the enlarge/reduce/Cancel buttons are all different. Then I realized that I could change is no longer the color scheme from Windows Vista. I have Windows Vista Basic and when I clicked on change the colors and appearance, a window pops up which had no colors to choose. I want my old Windows Vista Basic back and I'm panicking about how to solve the problem! Is no Aero de Windows option on my computer either!

  In fact Windows Vista Basic doesn't support Aero. The Windows Aero visual experience includes bars menu similar to glass and Windows Flip 3D Live Thumbnails, these features are not available in it.

  This is true with mine when I use the button expanded, so I preferred just by dragging the sides of the windows in full screen. To maximize transparency was no longer there. You can try setting the color intensity on "Window color and appearance", but transparency is lost again to the maximized window. I hope I could help

• After the installation of sp1 vista basic color scheme is missing

  After having to reinstall vista from a defective hard disk business, the vista basic color scheme is missing. When I installed from the cd that is there and work as my defalt. SP1 installed and it was gone? A and installed sp2 still not there. All the updates that are installed on windows update still not there. Checked for lates video driver and have later (manufacturing & the same as that of windows). He was here before hard drive crash?

• How to go back to the Windows 7 default color scheme?

  This way:

  I had the same problem. There is no DEFAULT botton to change the colors of W7 return to the default color settings, but I found something (by the grace of God) by accident. FOR THE DEFAULT SETTINGS:

  1.) permission open WordPad. Type something into it. (Even to leave a window open)

  2.) go to restart the computer and select

  3.) Windows does not stop but warn you you have WordPad or open IE.

  4.) do not press Force Shut Down

  5.) select Cancel

  6.) now go to personalization > Windows color and appearance

  7.) advance click appearance settings

  As odd as it is, by cancelling the Force Shutdown, you will see that it goes back to the default colors. 'Applies' is grayed out, so change the black to any color and black. BOOM! 'Applies' will now beable click to save the default color scheme.

  Please no 'thank you' for me but don't thank God for me, please? I was very frustrated, I couldn't cancel my colors, I chose that I like, but my colors screwed up Windows not being able to see the words due to conflict of colors, contrast and confusion. Defult colour Windows are set up for the purpose, so we can read and see everything on our computers or on the web.

  You can restore the default colors by doing this:

  1 - right click on the desktop and choose personalize.
  2 - Click on Windows7 Aero section of the list element.

• Color scheme changing based whenever I plug in the power cable

  Hi, recently I have a very annoying problem.

  Whenever I plug or on the power cable the entire screen "blinks" a few times, shows a ToolTip really fast (I caught with a print screen and it says: "the color scheme was changed to Windows 7 Basic.) A running program is not compatible with certain Visual elements of Windows. Click here for more information. ("I can't click as it closes quickly) and then the screen is back to normal.

  Well, it's kind of normal. Open windows are becoming fully optimized not and if I'm on youtube then the video becomes really small, but if I reduce the window and open it again then it's good.

  It wasn't really a problem for me until yesterday when it happens again and became a black chrome, which has been opened until I plugged in the cable, and it took a few minutes before it returned to normal (unless I closed and opened again).

  I tried already in the system-> performance options properties to select the 'Adjust to improve the appearance"and it did not work.

  Unfortunately, I see no option here to post a screenshot of that.

  In any case, I have HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC with Windows 7 Home Premium.

  I have enough disk space in my computer and the programs that are open, when I do this are usually office (word or excel for most) and chrome.

  What can I do to fix this annoying problem?

  Try these:

  1 make sure that your graphics driver is up to date. Check the HP website for the latest drivers.

  2. make sure that the power plan that you use is not set to Power Saver. To check, go to Control Panel > system and security > Power Options.

  3. make sure that your computer has enough memory when you unplug the power cable. To check, do a right-click the taskbar, click Task Manager, and under the performance tab, verify the amount of memory is used. If it is more than 70%, you are running low on memory. Try closing some programs and then see if the problem persists.

  4. run the Aero troubleshooter. See this link for instructions: Open the Aero Troubleshooter.
