combining alpha channels?

Miss me something really obvious here, but what is?

I want to have a topic casting shadow on a background of moving clouds. Here's the clip up to now using a method that does not work well enough:

The shadow does not work on the darker parts of the cloud. This really isn't so much of a prob in 2D, but it is a stereo 3D project and have the shadows disappear intermittently seems odd.

For example, to create a shadow that I can then insert between the two Images, I need to combine two video alpha channels (the one created using green as a key, the other the blue of the sky).

How do I do that? I bet it's really obvious!

Currently using CS5

Use effect channel juggler or things like change the channel to expose several channels and merge them differently. Or you could use a demo that has duplicates of your stuff and then use matte and stencil blending modes. It's really just a matter of using each other and combining them intelligently...

  • Combination of alpha channel selection

I made 6 individual selections on a photo and recorded each selection.  I have 6 alpha channels representing selections.  I have creative cloud, using a PC with Windows & and try to combine the 6 selections in one.  When I go to select > load selection, I select one alpha channels and make my new selection.  The marching ants that appear on my image.  But when I try to add 5 other alpha channels (select > load selection, choose the channel and choose Add to the selection, click OK), nothing happens.  Mobile dotted have not been added to the first selection.  Am I missing a step, something wrong, or do I have some sort of bug in the program?

Try this: after loading of Alpha One as a new selection, load the others using subtract from selection.

  • Action to combine separate images and alpha channels

I have a sequence of images 200 + each with a separate file, corresponding alpha channel which should be recombined in photoshop. Ideally, I would like to load each image as a layer and the corresponding alpha image as a mask to this layer, and then save the entire file as a .tiff.

The files are in the order IE results)

    Image_1

    Image_1_alpha

    Image_2

    Image_2_alpha

    Image_3

    Image_3_alpha

    ...

I am familiar with the actions and batch processing, but something of this magnitude is beyond me. I think there should be some kind of custom script or action. Ideas and help is appreciated!

So I sort of found a work around that is not as intuitive, but works using measures.

Basically, I opened a pair of side-by-side images in PS it is)

    Image_1

    Image_1_alpha

and performed an action where I copied the image alpha basically and pasted as a mask for color image. I then added a record and double closure order to close both files.

If I open all my files-by-side in sequence and perform the action that I can treat all my files but need to manually run the action rather than use a drop or a lot.

  • A selection of Alpha channel with the color of foreground fill layer

This question is more theoretical, because I found a work around. On a layer, I have a gray color, that I sample, and it becomes the desired foreground color.

I would like to fill a selection in an Alpha channel with this gray color.

However, when I view the Alpha channel, my forground color is lost for black and white, I understand, because the Alpha channel is a grayscale image.

But I'm able to taste a shade of gray to a foreground color, but how can I keep my chosen original Gray selected from a layer? The only way I know would be to make a new shade and then use it when I'm in the channels.

    Hope I am clear.

    Thank you

    Sonny

Don't know what you're saying. Sampling the RGB would eventually produce the colors 'Sales', aynway. This apart, of course sampling one color produces 3 values for all 3 components that define the color that can be applied directly onto a single channel a sense or the other. If you must have an 'academic' way to fix, you need to associate mathematics channel as for example combining the Red layer with Alpha using calculations of the image or creating a separate channel which holds the light / gray value. However, if your swatch method works for you, I see no reason to geek. Sometimes simple, hacky techniques are most effective...

  • Alpha channels does not not how they should?

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but has decided, it would be the best place to get feedback on what I can hurt. I use photoshop for a few years and recently updated CS4 however my alpha channels do not work how I think they should.

When I open an image, I use the Panel layer and click on the little icon down to 'Create a new string' but no dialog box is displayed for me to quote my channel. Also, my understanding is that a black fill covers my picture that when adorned with white would reveal the image below. However when I paint on my channel by using the tool brush and white color just finishes of paint on my image.

Either by the way, I'm trying to use this channel to create and save a selection, I don't understand where I'm wrong, but any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Alpha channels are an image in grayscale showing what is / is not selected. White is selected, unselected black and gray are partially selected so if you make a new black alpha channel and command + click top then you won't get that no pixel selected error.

To use layers alpha masking, you usually copy the channel you want to use by dragging the button channel new channel (you must drag the channel here, not just click on the button new channel), then any changes you want to apply. You can also use Image-> calculations to combine two different routes in an alpha channel.

  • An Alpha channel in 5 motion editing

I used chromatic key successfully in many video projects Motion 5, but now I am interested in editing and in some cases, remove a layer alpha to any clip. I have read the user manual and learned about the export of the video using Apple ProRes 4444 and ensuring the drop down choices include color or color and alpha, but I think my question just before exporting.

I bought video clips for use in my projects with alpha channels deleted and I would like to explore using this kind of function change myself.

I'm just exercise wishful thinking here or is to detach the data of possible alpha channels in the query editor 5 no matter where I export the video?

Thanks for any help to a novice Editor to the-middle-level-qualified.

Well,... no way alpha... ? something, some content, for example a solid color

and it is set in the project properties, see:

the two parameters of canvas even look: black.

but when exporting with the setting on the right, instead of an alpha = transparency, the selected color fills the background.

  • keep an a 1 bit image alpha channel

    Greetings!

I do a lot of pre-press and the restoration work for printing, mostly working with equipment that requires released as a 1 bit image - very fine line work and mechanical tones that will break or cause the moire if printed with dithering.

For this reason, when you work with commercial printers I've out usually images with superior typical resolutions - 1 bit 2400 ppi files, i.e. the same their imagesetter resolution works.

I have a request current a client that involves, at their request, to place images with transparency in Indesign rather than manipulate raster images in Photoshop and just out of the final 1 bit image and placing in Indesign.

So, I was playing with alpha channels to try to find a solution to this. Is there any image format that will support two channels - one for a piece of mono ppi (1 bit) 2400 line drawings and the other for an alpha channel that will be used to hit transparent sections in Indesign after the fact? Is this possible?

I COULD simply threshold - adjust my image to make pseudo-1-bit and then place the file in Indesign. But it's a big waste of space (the file resulting in dozens of times larger) AND it makes it more likely that someone will accidentally mixed the image during the RIP to print, thus defeating the objective of providing a high resolution 1-bit image in the first place.

Please, please, anyone out there have any advice for me?

    Best,

    Sean

    Well, the next day-

I read some more about how little coding works on different file formats. There is no place for the information/alpha channel for transparency on image 1 bit because, well, there is only a single bit, i.e. two States - on (ink) or disable (paper). If the shutdown state is managed like a white by Indesign, or the stop State is managed as paper and is presented in a transparent manner.

So what I really need, is a 2-bit image format. A PNG. While there are four States - on (ink), (off-white) and another way for transparency.

So I have 'threshold' converted by alpha channel and my channel of the image, then to export--> save for Web (inheritance) and selected 4 color PNG. Voila! Perfect bitmap 1-bit with transparency.

Now, if he is a pretty good solution for my printer and their Raster image processor, we get to see!

Have you tried to export to a different format? She is blurred in the program monitor too?

Try changing video renderer to software under file > project settings > General.

  • Alternative to the QuickTime Animation - alpha channel & small size?

    • I am looking for a replacement for the Animation QT codec I used to use for video files with a channel alpha on a Windows System.

    • Apple QuickTime does not support Windows more and I'm scratching my head to find a good video intermediate container/codec that takes in charge graphic overlays alpha channels.  I'm looking for something that implements a clip of 10 minutes gradually around 1 or 2 gigs or less.  Compression is acceptable.   I reuse these overlays on each video that I exported and found there was a reduction of duration important export RGBA images rather than dynamic links to After Effects.

  • How can I make a stronger alpha channel?

I was using Gimp to make stronger with adjust the curves of colors of alpha channel and selecting Alpha.
How it can be done with Photoshop CS6?

What I want to do is to make more visible alpha channel. In my case, it's simple image of triangle.

In the case of the triangle. If black pixels have a certain transparency and you want them to be fully opaque, the magic tool you want to select the triangle, then fill it black.

  • Apply alpha channels

Is it possible to apply (activate?) an alpha channel in one image, other than when importing?

I use two images superimposed for a special effect, the bottom without alpha and the top channel and would like to be able to apply an alpha channel to the image without having to replace the image each time. Paths of shadow in Indesign will not work, I can't have hard edges.
