Command line Linux install - .rpm or bundle?

Install earlier versions of VMWare Workstation I used had all zips of tar which, once unpacked, had a .sh or .pl (I forget who) command line Setup.  Now, I can only download a rpm or the boot.  I did not have Xwindows or any GUI installed on my host, so I didn't need a GUI installer.  I don't have RedHat Package Manager installed (I can, but would REALLY like to not have to do that, because it's a high security server with the bare minimum of installation policy).  So, my question is, is there a way to extract the installation script from command line like those of the old version, i.e. the .sh | PL, one of these packages?  If necessary I can install the RPM or bundle on a different server and unzip it and copy the files extracted in the host server for the installation, if absolutely necessary.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Nusquamesse,

Welcome to the forums.

The user manual, it is mentioned that you must log in as root, unzip the downloaded package and run:

SH VMware-Workstation -.. Console bundle -

Do you still need no matter what installation script if it works?

It will be useful.

  • [Solved] Possible to enroll the workstation via the command line (Linux)?

    Hi all:

Under Linux Mint or Ubuntu, the ToolTip that should allow me to save the product key just won't display, making me unable to use the program. Normally, the system should ask me a root password after I click to enter, but nothing happens here, and I can't find a problem in any log file (by clicking on the option adds nothing in the newspaper at all). I try this on a new brand operating system installation and using the installer to update from the Web site.

Is it possible that I could fix this, or as asking the question, save the product via the command line key instead?

It seems that if you have a permissions problem. If your username is not a member of the oinstall group, he or she has no access to the necessary sql * more files. I recommend you read MOS 420083.1 Note for a more in-depth discussion to set the file permissions on the Oracle home.

  • What is the command line to install a component of the AAU

Instead of using the web INTERFACE, there is a command line that can be used to install a component on the content server?
I want to automate the installation, is it possible to do?

    Thank you

Go to the content server bin directory. I think in 10g, the command is CompTool (you need to install this component for 10g). 11 g, the order should be there. And I think that its called ComponentTool. So a command takes the following format:. / ComponentTool - install
    or
    . / ComponentTool - install /u1/work/temp/ContentTracker.zip

If you type. / ComponentTool - help you see all the other options (such as install a component that has command prompt and so on)

  • Command-line (linux) VMWare what can you do?

I have vmware running on a Red Hat server. We like to keep out of the GUI as much as possible. I know that you can start and stop virtual machines with vmrun. But you can change their properties, such as the what iso image is mounted, and the amount of RAM they can use?

I also want to adjust the virtual machines that start when the host starts in the command-line if possible.

You can take a look here: http://sanbarrow.com/vmx.html.

It shows parameters .vmx possible and what they are for.

    Moreover, the RAM is "memsize".

  • command line "install MAC OS x 10.9 Mavericks' has been accepted what then?"

    Hello again

Always in the hope of getting help, none so far. BUT I've made some progress. Using CMD + S I'm entered in 'install MAC OS x 10.9 Mavericks' this command was excluded. Now a list of choice as follows:

Install (-bCcpSsV) (-suffix B) (-f flags) (-Group g) (-m mode)

    (- owner o) file1 file2

    Install (-bCcpSsv) and again the f g m b

    (- owner o) file1... fileN directory

    Install d (-v) (-Group g) (-m mode) (-owner o) directory

I'm trying to install OSX with USB - HDD

"owner) it's me. Please how can I proceed!

Those who are not choices. Here's the proper use of the command line, thinks you meant. But the command you entered is not valid. Simplify your life. Start the computer normally. In the eyes of Applications folder for the installation of Mavericks application. Double-click the icon.

Note that if you have a PowerBook under Leopard, so you cannot override. If you have a real MacBook or MacBook Pro, then you have other options. But you have not provided sufficient or correct information to help you.

If you have installed the plugin of Facebook video appeal and you no longer want to use it, you can remove it as follows.

    1 back up all data.

    2. open the library folder in your home folder by holding down the option key and selecting

    Go ▹ library

    in the Finder menu bar.

    3. place these items in the library folder to the Trash:

    LaunchAgents/com.facebook.videochat.name.plist

    Support/Facebook app

Here the name represents the name of your Facebook.

4 log off or restart the computer, and then empty the trash.

If you do not use this plugin, or any other software (for example, some Adobe products), which depends on Java, install the Java runtime distributed by Apple.

    C

If you do not have the Facebook plugin and you don't want to install Java, please ask for further instructions.

I get a message: to use the 'java' command line tool, you must install a JDK.  I tried 10 times to install without success.  Help, please.

You probably have some of the older than the needs/desires software legacy Java installed.

Please see these sons of community message:

After the installation of El Capitan, I get the message: to use the 'java' command line tool, you must install a JDK

Just found this last Java does not work with El Capitan

This is the Apple link to the legacy version of Java 6.

First of all, I would like to try to identify what application generated the next message and update (delete) this request as the case may be. If you need to run Java then, as the Apple Support page says it's certainly preferable that your installation of Java entirely up-to-date with the Oracle's Java course. If you can get without Java, you should install it not - like the Flash, it should not be installed unless you have no choice.

  • Create the command line for the Dump file without having to install additional tools

I should automate the creation of dump files. It must to be command line and without installing tools such as ProcDumpTechNet.Microsoft.com/Sysinternals/dd996900, minidump or similar. I think that it is not a solution but if someone can help me.

This issue is beyond the scope of this site (for consumers) and to be sure, you get the best (and fastest) reply, we have to ask either on Technet (for IT Pro) or MSDN (for developers)

  • How to install a local help for the tools of cmd.exe and command line on Windows 7?

    Hello

for many applications, the command line (cmd.exe) is a good choice to get results with minimum effort. The shell has continuously been improved over the years, at least until Windows XP.

All the command line tools have a short help screen (using the /? option). When you need more information, you use Windows system for example from the Explorer Help. It is very good.

Now, Windows XP Help content was installed on site, and the operating system. In Windows 7, my computer wants to go to the Microsoft web site on the internet and there is no local help available. The operating system seems to be incomplete. This makes the help system unusable on a computer without internet access or when the server is not accessible.

So my question is: is it possible to install a local copy of help for the tools of cmd.exe and command line under Windows 7 or do we have to go back to Windows XP?

    Thank you

    Martin
