• Doesn't have a controlled stop on ESXi 4.1 U1

  We have a 3 HA server cluster running ESXi 4.1 U1 patched to 433742 with the bundle HP ESXi 4.1 1.1 and the acidification of NMI HP driver installed on all.

  When occur with our UPS to initiate a stop, 3 servers ESXi killed all the VM without stop them gracefully.  ESXi 3 hosts seemed so gracefully shut themselves down.

  The power is restored, all the VM has started at the same time.

  We use a 5000 VA APC UPS network management card installed with the PCNs 3.0.0 on the vMA.

  It would make life so much easier if I could be sure that this machine has a fixed IP address, I might add in the host to host files and thus get name resolution working for her.

  Should not able to vmotion for DRS wikll MSCS cluster node does not work - strting with the ESX host that has the standby node place it in Maintenance mode and manually knew node MSCS nodes - restart the host ESXi get node maintenance - once it is up and the lcuster MSCS is stable - the main failover node MSCS and shute to the bottom of the virtual machine - place this host ESX to Maintanance mode allowinf DRS to evacuate VMS running - restart the ESX host brings the VM MSCS back up and replace the workload in this node MSCS.

  Don't know why VM Ware chose Tomcat, they SAY THEY is not secure... No matter what.  It's just another Web server and its an option that VM Ware has chosen to work with vCenter.  It's not good or bad, just different... many people THINK apache is better, it is a matter of opinion.

  It is a way, you will realize quickly that will be a major pain.  I do like DHCP, reserve of the INVESTIGATION period.  Unless you know a way to connect to hundreds of virtual machines and change their IP remotely, this is probably the simplest method.  Unless you like make manual updates... then knock you out.

  no theoretical limit... or I do not think that someone took the time to discover.  You will grow up to the moment where you have too many users connected to vCenter vCenter anyway... So the connections will not be reached.

  I am trying to create a script that, ultimately, must run unattended (not 100% sure how to make that happen yet). I created a configuration file that contains information for the server, username, and password using the current options. I tried to use VI_CONFIG in my script to point to the configuration file so that the user would have not invited while the program was running. I can't make it work. When I try to add VI_CONFIG an error always comes: "cannot change the constant item in scalar assignment." Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've attached what I have so far below.

  So first off, you'll probably want to reference the programmers guide and guide Kit: http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/viperltoolkit/doc/perl_toolkit_appliance_idx.html which provides information on how to start writing your own scripts and some methods to be implemented to make it easier to write your own custom scripts.

  The file VI_CONFIG you are referring is generally stored in a hidden file which can be named anything, in my example, I named it .viconfig which will contain a few variables:

  Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most of the modules.

  (If you use it, switch to the default theme).

  • Under Windows, you can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
  • On Mac, you can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key option key when starting Firefox.
  • Under Linux, you can open Firefox 4.0 + with leaving Firefox then go to your Terminal and running Safe Mode: firefox-safe-mode (you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

  Check this option as follows:

  Open Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility

  Click on the image of the AirPort Extreme

  Click on edit in the window that appears

  Click on the network at the top of the next window tab

  

  Check the settings for the router Mode.  Is is "Off (Bridge Mode).

  If so, the guest network is unable to function properly in this environment.

• I can't stop my personal folders in shared with comments

  Do not use the guest account, you see in the user accounts applet in Control Panel. The guest account is a special system account, not one for when you feel hospital. For some reason, it is disabled by default in Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Linux, Unix and OS X.

  The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

  Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK.
