'Compact Cache now' with SSD?

I use the SSD for the system drives (C: and D :) and keep the cache on the D: drive.)  Is there any point of compaction of the cache?  Or am I just simply very slightly decrease the life of the drive?  My point is, is it interesting compaction of memory cache with a SSD?

Thank you!

ABC

Compaction of the cache deletes obsolete records from the database and JPEG files associated with these records. So it will give you an advantage in freeing up space.

8 GB of RAM with SSD exceleration 24gig or 12 GB of ram without ssd cache memory?

The cache of WSSD 24gig offers performance very similar to a full SSD drive for a much lower cost. I would buy the unit with the drive cache of the WSSD 24 concert and as little memory as they sell me and then increase the RAM me but 8 GB of RAM it's frankly more than many. In fact, it's probably better than 12 because there 2 identical modules allowing the functioning of memory dual channel. To summarize, the best option is clearly 8 GB RAm and the WSSD of 24 concert disk cache.

    Hello Arjan

Yes, you can use SSDS in RAID 1.

The controller supports the TRIM and cancel orders mapping. SSD MLC are grade consumer SSD which will not have the life expectancy of SLC.

    What can I do?

You can only update if you have a version of the AppStore of Aperture - if your version of Aperture appears in the history of your purchases on the App Store. Update and then reinstalling.   See this tip of the user for more details:

Any advice on installing a SSD 128 GB in place and place of the hard drive, use this for the operating system (Windows 7) and put the old HDD in the optical drive slot to serve as storage.

Is this easy to do on this model, and a new facility would be wiser than cloning?

There is no files on the drive apart from the operating system that must be preserved - all documents etc. are on googledrive, dropbox and onedrive.

Adjustments will have to be made when you perform a new installation to keep the recovery on D files?

Earlier, I created a system restore disk - does that include Windows 7, or would I need to download it and get the license number.

Is it fairly easy to connect and use the USB "System Restore" to re - load Windows?

It s a good idea to replace the HARD drive with SSD drive.
You will definitely get a boost huge performance.
I did these updates in the past, and my laptop runs a lot faster.

But the question is whether the HARD drive would be recognized by BIOS placed in ODD Bay.

To be honest I n don't know if this will be possible since the laptop does not support the special feature of selection-Bay. In the past, some other laptops Toshiba Tecra and Portege series supported these updates (HARD drive in the Bay of WEIRD) but I'm not very well on laptops Satellite m.

Of course, you can try these updates, but in the worst cases the HARD drive will not be recognized by the BIOS if you put in the ODD Bay

  • Portege R830 - model with SSD or HARD drive?

    Hello!

I am considering buying a Portege R830. I've yet to decide between the Portégé R830-10R (model with HARD drive) and the Portégé R830 - 10 p (model with a 256 GB SSD). To do this, I would like to know:

-What is the SSD model assembled in the Portégé R830?
-It uses a standard SATA connection or an owner like the previous Portégé R700 SSD?
-Have someone replaced the original HDD to the Portégé R830 by a whole new SATA 3 SSD? Wich one? It works fine?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi MadVet,

The SSD of Portege R830 - 10 p is a model of Toshiba 2.5 so it does not work in Portege R830. In addition due to the 2.5 form factor it uses SATA standard interface as normal hard drives.

In my opinion, you should take the model with SSD. 256 GB is enough for the operating system and applications as well as for some important data. If you need more disk external HARD disk space use. SSDS are very fast and you will see the performance of the SSD HARD drive instead ;)

  • Re: Portege R500-11 with SSD: I want to install Win XP

Sorry if this is a common question, but I haven't had no luck with the research.

I have a Portege R500-11 pair with SSD and I want their downgrade to XP. (speed issues)

First question. Is it possible or are there problems?

Second: I guess I have to install the SSD driver, with nlite or F6 during installation of the victory, but which is the correct driver? Can someone give me the exact link, please?

    Is this? Intel Storage Manager.

Thanks for your help and sorry again if it is a question of RTFM.

  • HPE-495 desktop - HARD drive is u/s, please help to rebuild with SSDS

    Hi all

[[2 TB Hitachi SATA 3.0 GB/s] HARD drive GL8E]. The current failed HARD drive is connected to the sata1 and there is a spare on the motherboard sata2. Spare power supplies available [CH 4 & ch 5]. Office was running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I would like to install a 840 EVO Samsung 250 GB SSD SATA 3 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1 and a second [still undecided 2 TB Western Digital SATA 3] as data drive.

These discs are backaward compatible with the existing architecture of SATA - y at - it all isuues with this proposal, would I need to make changes to the BIOS, other than this initial boot off dvd player to install the new windows on the ssd drive?

    Thank you very much.

If you replace the current HARD drive with SSD in SATA1, new in SATA2 HARD drive and let the CD/DVD in SATA3 on your HP Pavilion Elite HPE-495uk desktop, your computer should boot the Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit DVD into the CD/DVD drive. This assumes that the disks are new with absolutely no data on them. You may need to, press the "ESC" key or the "F # ' suitable for your computer, select the CD/DVD drive as a boot device.

  • HP Pavillion DV6700: Is my HP Pavilion DV6700 Compatible with SSD?

I would like to know if my HP laptop is compatible with SSDS. An Internet search turns postings that say that it is possible and other thay say my PC is not compatible with SSDS.

Here is some info on my installation.

My PC is a HP Pavilion DV6700 CTO Entertainment Notebook
    I am running Windows 7
The PC came with Windows Vista

The BIOS is Hewlett - Packard l58 2008-06-16
The processor is Intel Core Duo CPU T7500 to 2.20 GHz, 2201 Mhz, 2 carrots, 2 logical processors

The new SSD is a Samsung SSD of 850 EVO.

    (1) my PC is compatible with SSDS?

    (2) are there updates the BIOS or the settings of the software that I need to know?

    Thanks for any advice.

Yes, it is a fully native SATA (ahci) system and an SSD works perfectly. With Windows 7 operating system will know it is a SSD and activate the TRIM and other optimizations to the SSD. It will be a version SATA slower that curent models but you still benefit greatly from an SSD. You must update the BIOS on this model, but not because of the SSD. There isn't quite enough important updates BIOS for this model which correct some problems of initial material as the fan operation and resume the suspension.

  • Satellite L40 - replacement of HDD of 80 GB with SSD-disk hard

Toshiba L40 Series (4.5 year old computer): HARD disk replacement

    Toshiba Satellite Pro: L40
    (Model: PSL4BE-00P00YN5)

    Intel Celeron: 540 (1.86 GHz)
    1 GB of ram
    Drive hard 80 GB
    32-bit Windows Vista Home Basic
    (Over four years)

Looking across the net, but can't find any information on this advice - has
It is hoped that someone had done a similar job. I know that the HDD in
This machine supports the SATA drives, but I don't know if the motherboard
supports several types of SATA drives. I have read several topics on
users who have bought an SSD for the replacement of the old HARD disk in
the laptop - just to find out that the motherboard did was too old and has not been
compatible with SSDS. Even if the motherboard supports some types
SSDS, this is no guarantee that it will work with the purchased SSD.

The SSD I think to buy, will be one of them:

Corsair SSD Force Series 120GB 2.5 GT "
    SATA 6 Gb/s (SATA3.0), 555MB / 515 MB/s write 85 k IOPS (4 k aligned), w/support

    or this one:

    Corsair SSD Force Series 3 120 GB 2.5 "
    SATA 6 Gb/s (SATA3.0), 550MO/510 MB/s read/write,® SandForce SF-2281

(the first is the better of the two SSD drives, but the last of them has
SandForce integrated, which (from what I've read) is preferred with
old computers when upgrading for SSDS).

If someone could give me some info on this topic, I would be
    very grateful!

It is always problematic to be around some old piece of newer hardware standards and technology. I n t have this old Satellite but my friend had it.

Satellite L40's old laptop budget very simply the hardware configuration, so I think that you will not be able to use newest SSDS to this topic.

I really hope someone else can post a positive experience on these updates. What you can try is to contact nearest Toshiba service provide by phone and ask for some advice. They have exact specifications for laptop and, I hope, can help you with this.

By the way: I put t know what is the reason for these updates? More performance, more low composition of power or something else?
