  • Logical disk management does not recognize a slave drive

I installed an internal HD as a slave. The BIOS sees the drive, Western Digital Lifeguard sees the drive (it checks OK) with the appropriate drive letter, PMagic sees the drive before starting, but the logical disk manager does not recognize the drive or the drive letter.

Using Windows XP, SP3 with latest updates

    Hello

    1. The hard drive is recognized in another computer?

If this isn't the case, then the problem could be the hard drive itself. If he is found, then the problem is in your computer. In this case, run the diskpart.exe utility.

Use the list partition command and see if the partition is detected. If so, then I suggest you to format the drive in diskpart.

However, take a return of all data on the hard drive before the format by plugging it into another computer. Help with backup data, see

    Backup: what, how, where

    http://www.Microsoft.com/protect/data/backup/about.aspx

To use the Diskpart.exe utility, follow these steps:

    1. type diskpartand press ENTER to open the diskpart tool.

    2. type list diskand press ENTER. A list of available hard disks.

    3. type select disk =[n]

n s Specifies the number of disc the disc to receive the focus.

    4. type list partition

This command displays the partitions listed in the table to partition on the current drive.
    5. type select partition =[d]

This command selects the specified partition and gives it the focus.

d s Specifies the drive letter or mount point path of the partition to receive the focus.

    6. type format drive: / FS: NTFS/Quick

For more information about commands, see

A Description of the Diskpart command-line utility

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/300415

Now you should be able to see the slave drive in Solution Explorer.

  • Access is denied when trying to remove the videos.

Trying to remove a couple of old videos and when I try to delete them I get cannot delete access is denied...  Make sure that the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not in use.  How do I remove them.

The standard answer to this used to be download Unlocker, but this file is now shipped with some adware and may be refused by your anti-virus application.

So if you do not want the adware, the following steps should work (but no guarantee)

    1. Determine where the files are located (for example, C:\Documents and utilisateur\Mes Documents\My videos Settings\nom)
    2. Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
    3. Using the cd (change directory) command, navigate to the directory where the files are located.  Once you think you're in the right directory, use the dir command to list all the files in the directory and make sure that those you want to remove is here
    4. Leave the command prompt window, start the task (CTRL + ALT + DELETE) Manager
    5. Under the processes tab, find explorer.exe, right click and select "End process" (at this point, your desktop will be empty except for the command prompt window and the Task Manager)
    6. Return to the command prompt window and use the command del (delete) to delete files
    7. After you delete the files, open the Task Manager, click file > new task (run), type explorer.exe, and then click OK
    8. Close the command prompt window and the Task Manager

  • disk management errors and lost partitions

I have reimagee a older laptop that has a 500 GB drive. In the process, I have partitioned the hard drive in three volumes: a drive T: and V: each with 100 GB and C: got balance. A day or two later, I noticed T: and V: mysteriously disappeared. Fortunately, I didn't put anything in them again, there was no loss of data. However, it seems that I have lost access to disk space. Disk management show up with this:

All traces of T: and V: disappeared. The c: volume 226GB poster (including 148GB is free)... which is all what I think after I had partitioned the disk. But then underneath, the entry to disk 0 C: Watch is affected 465 GB... it is unclear where the balance of 35 GB went. If I try to reduce the volume, it presents me with the total available size 476938MB and shrink space 151834 MB. If I try to further reduce 1 MB, it fails with the error "Virtual Disk Manager: the parameter is incorrect."

Now that I'm in this State, is it possible to recover without start from scratch?

  • Allowing returns hidden administrator "error System 5 has occurred. Access is denied. "

In summary (it's a long, sad story) I don't have an active administrator account in Windows 7 Professional. My question is how to ensure that active hidden administrator? At the present time I can't access any number of tools and equipment I can only login with standard access. For example I can not access the system let alone restore use it!

I know that Windows 7 Professional has a hidden administrator account which, with other adminstratoractive, can be made active. I went through a lot of research to find ways to make the active hidden administrator. As I don't have administrative privileges of these methods and procedures end with "Access denied" or "system error 5 has occurred. Access is denied. "  For example, I tried running command.exe to run the command line "net user administrator / Active: Yes" only for ' System 5 error. Access is denied. "to be displayed in the command prompt window.  A second example is using computer management. The users premises & groups | Users | Administrator | Properties and uncheck account is disabled displays "access denied."

I'm at the point of reinstalling Windows as the only solution seems obvious.  But before that I would ask here if there's a cure to my problem.  Can I activate the administrator account hidden without going through another active administrator account in the system and if the answer is yes how do.

  • D:\ is not accessible. Access is denied

    Hello

I tried to install my D: (all my media) drive with bitlocker. I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Now that it is configured, whenever I have unlock my drive, I get the error "access denied."

I went to change the permissions, but the 'security' tab is not listed under properties.

I also tried to run the command cmd with admin rights (re grant me permissions), but it says: ERROR: access denied.

Is anyway to reset the default access permissions or access the tab security again? I'm on an admin account and I tried in safe mode and in "normal" mode.

    Thanks for the help,

    -Nathan M.

I just right-click on it and choose "turn on bitlocker. The drive has been locked on my main account, which was the same, I tried to access the drive from blocking.

I was prompted to enter a password to unlock, but once he is released, he would always give me access denied. I decrypted and tried your steps, but they did not work. The key nosecuritytab was not in my reg.

I ended up placing the drive in an external enclosure and the start of my old machine Vista. Doing this, I was able to support the use of this computer for some reason any. I was able to remove my files after taking possession (takeown cmd).

Once I had my files that yanked, I put the disk in my laptop and was able to boot into safe mode and format the drive (not using disk management took in msconfig, had to use high CMD).

In the end, the problem is resolved and the lesson learned haha.
