  After three attempts, a box of "system disabled" appears with a code.

  DP - K has been giving people a sort of 8 digits to enter and I was wondering if could be generated for this machine?

  I want to format my 'C' drive and reinstall windows Vista Home Basic Edition for my 'compaq presario laptop.
  When I lived with my recovery disk, it has been fine until "loading windows files" and taking me to the recovery / restore point but not with the format options (GUI).

  With this HP Compaq recovery process, it's a different process than the installation with the Microsoft DVD

  There is a section slightly more than 1/2 at the bottom of this link from HP showing you how to reinstall Vista using their recovery disks.
