  First of all, I would like to thank all the people posting here some very interesting information on installing the drivers under Win XP. You do a great job!

  I followed the steps described in the guide and I arrived to install most of them (chipset intel, nvidia graphics, realtek network card)

  The only problem I have now is with the WiFi card driver intel. From here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Operating-systems-and-software/General-XP-Downgrade-Guide-for-HP-Laptop... I tried this:

  Intel Wireless, (Note: MS Windows Installer 3.1or later, must be installed), here

  and he did not sense that accrued installers ok but nothing happened, in Device Manager, no change has been made. After that I tried the method with 'Have disk', I chose in the list and tried some of the drivers, but in Device Manager it says that the "device cannot start".

  What could try then?

  Hey everybody,

  So I just joined here to see if anyone can help with my problem, because frankly, I'm out of options now about two weeks asking friends and colleagues and searching the Internet for answers to similar problems. I tried twice with the information I found on this site for quite some time and it does not work for me!

  In any case, I have a HP Compaq Presario CQ56 laptop. It has been implemented correctly when I bought it, everything worked perfectly. I managed to catch a virus that prevented me from even turn on my computer (which is strange, because I'm not a fool with computers, and I know what not to do/download sites to visit), so I had to restart my computer to stock, I used my Windows 7 disc, partitions formatted and installed windows again.

  Now, for some reason it doesn't connects wireless Internet. It connects when I have an ethernet cable connected, but it is not all networks, as shown in this screenshot:

  So you see my problem it is very frustrating. I don't know what is the cause, but I guess it must be a driver problem? Which is why I write here, if this is indeed in the wrong section, please accept my apologies.

  If someone could shed some light on the problem for me, or even to resolve, I'd be very grateful it is extremely annoying. As I said, it works fine when I have my laptop connected to the internet, when I'm in College, but when I come on a weekend, I can't put my laptop, because I only WiFi at home.

  The problem is that the needs of the wireless (network controller) one adapter driver installed and here is the link for the driver you need.

  Once you install the driver above, the wireless should work just fine.

  I just cleaned my laptop (compaq presario cq56) and I downloaded a new windows 7, I have deleted al my drivers and no I do not have wifi that I remember that I had this problem last time (2 years ago) but it seems that I can't understand what is the remedy.   I bought a HP Compaq Presario CQ56 model on eBay for $25 with screen cracked and no hard drive. I wasn't informed that it is has a password for BIOS-_ - after you have entered the incorrect password three times I get the key: 34915346 error and it keeps let me try again after the reboot.   I have a compaq presario cq56 115 - dx unworking. I decided it would be cheaper to just get another phone and put the old hard drive in this document, to recover all my data. I was wondering if this drive would be held also in other models of HP? How would this knowledge. I tried searching on google, but not luck. This hard disk can even go in other models?

  I understand that you have decided to buy a new laptop and want to get the data from the old in the new book.

  Most computer laptop computer laptop are standard size so you shouldn't have a problem with the installation in a laptop, but I would look for one with a second drive Bay.  If you were to install as a boot drive in a new HP notebook that could void your warranty.

  Here is a link to the specifications of compaq presario cq56 115-dx. indicating that it is just a standard portable player.

  You can also find out about installation in an external case as a work around to get the data.

  Or if you can read your Microsoft W7 product key you can make your own windows 7 installation disc.

  Here's how:

  If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

  Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

  Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

  Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

  The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

  According to the Compaq Presario Maintenance and Service of Guide matrix on page 2 (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02657369), my Compaq Presario CQ56-110US laptop supports up to 8 GB of system memory, but by following a few lines to the bottom of the guide, it lists the configuration information that tops out at a total of 4 GB. If I remove the 2 existing memory chips (1 GB each) and install two 4GB chips, my laptop will support the upgrade to 8 GB?
