Compatibility of Kingston HyperX SSD of Savage on Apple MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2010)

I am trying to install a Kingston HyperX SSD Savage in my mid-2010 13-inch macbook pro (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo).  I can connect via usb and format/partition/delete/clone ssd it however I want. Once he is cloned from my current HD, I can boot from ssd when it is still connected via USB.  If I replace the internal HD with the ssd and the attempt to power on the mac, download starter system but never end.

Help, please!

Cables HD in older MBP are known to degrade so that they can support the speed of a HD but not an SSD. The solution was to replace the cable.

  • How can I determine which Intel SSD is compatible with my MacBook PRo mid-2012?

I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch Mid 2012 (not retina) and I need to upgrade my hard drive to an SSD. I've seen several like Intel s 540 and 750 series and a Crucial MX SSD. However, I am trying to identify the one which would be compatible and the best alternative for my upgrade. I appreciate the help. Thank you.

    SSD:

    MX200 essential 500 GB SATA 6 GB/s 2.5 "

    Intel SSD 540 s series 480GB 2.5 "SATA 6 Gb/s, 16nm, TLC

    Intel SSD 750 series (400 GB 1/2 height PCle 3.0, 20nm, MLC)

Your Mac has a SATA interface, so the PCIe model is not compatible, I would choose most of the three.

  • How to replace the hard drive with an SSD on a model of end 2011 MacBook Pro 15 inch, A1286

    Hello

I would like to replace the hard drive on my model of end 2011 MacBook Pro 15 inch, A1286 with a disk solid state drive (SSD). First of all, I would like to know if this is possible. Second, what is the best way to do it? I'm under the Yosemite OS if that makes a difference.

Here are some technical details of my current system:

-MacBook Pro 15 inch, late 2011 model A1286

    -OS yosemite

    -16 GB of memory/RAM

    -Currently using stock HD

All instructions step by step would be helpful with what software should I use to make backups of my current operating system (e.g., SuperDuper). I would also like to know what tools or material I need like type of screwdriver, cables to transfer data to the SSD, etc.. My goal is to not have to reinstall each app one by one on the SSD, but if that's the only way to do it then it's okay.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You can see instructions OWC here. Tools are mentioned in the discussion (I used a plastic knife picnic with the stronger edge somewhat blunt for nylon pry tool). I suggest you invest in one of these external fences. Install the SSD in who and clone internally externally with CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper. Then move the external drive of the internal drive after the start of the SSD in the external to confirm the operation.

  • Kingston Hyperx SSD Savage - compatibility problem of Macbook Pro start 2011

I bought Kingston Hyperx Savage 480 GB SSD with the intention to install it into my Macbook Pro beginning 2011. but my Mac does not recognize the SSD when I connect it via USB. The strange part when I restart the Mac keeping the SSD attached to it, he acknowledged. And I can copy and paste normally. in the case where if I deleted and plugging it back in, it is appears as not counted. is there a solution for this or if I should change the SSD?

    Should work well.

    connect the USB box,

Start DiskUtility, (a) select the drive, the long name,

    Select the partition tab in,

partition with the Table to Partition GUID, 1 partition only, OS X Extended (journaled), give it a name (like Mac - SSD).

After that it is ready to clone the boot disk and then swap the drives.

  • Can I install an ssd and its system of MacBook Pro mid-2010 on a Mac Pro mid 2009

    Hello

My MacBook Pro just died yesterday (logic board) and I want to install the SSD with the system on a Mac Pro.

I just ordered a case to install the ssd drive in the machine.

I wonder if I can boot directly from this SSD or if I do the previous setting in the system.

Given that the Mac is able to run the latest version of Mac OS X, and you want to move the SSD for older Mac rather than new, it should work. I guess that saying you 'ordered a case to install the ssd drive in the machine' you mean connecting via USB rather than internally, which would be a great test.

If it works, I would say running the combo for OS update comes on the SSD once it is installed in the older Mac.

  • MacBook pro 13 inch 2012 pcie ssd upgrade

Is my mid-2012 13 "MacBook Pro compatible with PCIe SSD upgrade? I want to remove the internal optical disk and edit it in the PCIe SSD, so that I have 2 internal storage. Going to do?

Your mention of an optical drive tells me you have a MBP non-retine.  PCI and PCIe SSDS are NOT compatible with your MBP.  You can install a card standard 2.5 "SSD in your MBP and still experience a significant increase in performance.  I suggest OWC SSD and Crucial.

    Ciao.

  • Is there a compatible ssd to upgrade early 2015 Macbook Pro?

Planning on buying a new macbook pro.  Information on upgrading the early 2015 macbook pro said that it wasn't something compatible yet.  I was wondering if in 2016 if anything compatible exist now?

    OWC (macsales) can have.

But even open systems of the retina may void the warranty and can give the Genius Bar the right to deny any future service to avoid being blamed for what you broke.  Change the SSD guarantees you invalidation some.

  • SSD suddenly slow down the MacBook Pro 13 "early 2011

    Hey guys,.
I bought my MacBook Pro with two hard drives. SSD in the main slot and HDD CD-Rom instead. It works incredible fast without any problem since more than six months, and suddenly my Mac became super slow for no reason. I try with a clean install of Maveriks, Lion, Yosemite and Capitan on ssd cleaned and formatted, but the rest of the problem. Need more than 3 to 5 minutes only to get the log on screen (before the time of full reboot was 23 seconds) and if I'm lucky around 10-30 min to load the hole with files systems. I tried with the SSD on my other laptop and it works great, I remove the other hhd, changing all the discs in all possible combinations, and the problem is still there. Anyone with the same problem or solution for this? I really need help to solve this problem because looks like * now. I use applications like photoshop, ableton, traktor and other for audio and video processing and I need my mac to be fast as if it was.

    Run Apple Hardware Test:

    https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT201257

Note that an error free AHT is inconclusive.

Connect the boot drive for the MBP via USB.  Any difference?

IY can be useful if you have identified the EXACT MBP model/year you have.

    Ciao.

  • MacBook Pro upgrade to SSD HARD drive

I own a MacBook Pro (mid-2012) with 500 GB HARD drive and want to update on the HARD drive. I want it to start as a new laptop after recovery. I don't want to back up my data.

So, if I insert my new Samsung 850 EVO (250GB) replace my mac HARD drive, I'll be able to install OS X on the new disk hard Internet of recovery?

Yes from the internet recovery (option command R), you can access the disk utility to format the new hard drive.  Recovery of the Internet will offer the OS X that originally shipped with your Mac from 2012. You then spend here.

The options are to make a bootable installation before hand.

  • MacBook Pro 2012 does not SSD

    Hello

So a few months ago, I upgraded my MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid-2012, OS X 10.10.5) with a SSD Samsung 850 Evo. Things were much faster and the other Corsair CMSA16GX3M2A1600C11 Apple Mac 16 GB (2x8GB) was also nice.

One day, the Macbook has no more SSD, start repair of OS X and reinstalling did not help. If at start up the Mac, then applications suddenly crash randomly.

Strangely, exchanging for 500 GB disk drive factory solves all problems.

In addition, I can boot OS X from the SSD via USB3, but internally it does not work.

I tried different SSD from Apple, Sandisk and Samsung, which were to be properly formatted or have OS X installed, but the Macbook simply does not accept them and either shows a blank screen or screen issue/question mark. With a support boot utility disk sometimes recognize them and sometimes not. The internal SATA cable has also been replaced by about 5 different cables, but that has not solved the problem. Replace the RAM, unplug the various components such as Superdrive or Trackpad as well.

I can use the Macbook Pro normally but being prevented from using a SSD internal is a serious drawback. My next plan is to try the drive Caddy + SSD boot drive solution but somehow I fear that it could also do not work.

Wouldn't be a kind of failure of the Logicboard? I'm certainly not an expert, but don't really see any other reasons.

    Thanks in advance!

any SATA enabled the logic board on a MacBook Pro after that 2007 should accept an SSD (I guess that ANY Board with SATA connectors actually are eligible for one SSD)

You may have damaged something with the Commission or if you are using any 3rd party with the DSS software is might be incompatible.

  • Can I switch to an SSD in my Macbook pro?

    Hey all!

I'm looking for upgrade/repair of things on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2012) in the near future.

Because it seems to be my hard drive at the origin of most of the problems, I would like to see replace everything by an upgrade.

    My main question is an SSD would it work? http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-256GB-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-7KE256BW/dp/B00LMXBOP4/ ref = sr_1_3? s = pc & ie = UTF8 & qid = 1463452630 & sr = 1-3 & keywords = Samsung + SSD

If this is not the case, go to any recommendations regarding hard drives? Y at - it a specific cable that is needed for my macbook pro model?

    MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid-2012)

    2.9 GHz Intel Core i7

    Thank you!

Yes, but maybe not Samsung models, try an OWC or Crucial.

  • I want to upgrade my MacBook Pro mid-2012 with an SSD

And I would like to replace the HARD drive with the EVO of 850 Samsung 500 GB 2.5 inch SATA III internal SSD I was wondering if this would correspond to my Mac. Also, how exactly do to install it. I was wondering also I need another thing as a kit Assembly or not. Can someone please help me I'm completely lost.

Here's a video that explains in detail the process of installing an SSD in your Mac. It was reported some difficulties with Samsung SSD in Macs so you can also watch offers OWC (which provides the installation videos). Note that the SSD is the same form factor and the HD 2.5 "also note that one of them might allow you to test first the SSD and clone your internal drive which him.

  • 2011 Macbook Pro late since the SSD upgrade

Hello world. Just a heads-up that is my first question. Also, I like to think I'm good with computers but I'm no computer programmer, so I will try to describe my problem the best I can. My friend (who does) has updated my macbook at the beginning of 2011 pro with an SSD (brand is Crucial and 480 GB). As a side note we also tried with a Kingston brand and had the same problem. I'm pretty confident, that it was installed correctly. Since the upgrade, some functions are faster. For example open Google Chrome is faster than before the upgrade. I have problems when I look at the files and the use of the files stored on my hard drive. For example, when I watch a video that is saved on my hard drive on VLC (Quicktime) it will freeze all the minutes for at least thirty seconds. Also scroll through files Finder can lead to this gel. We are not quite sure what the problem is (my friend, so that good with the Mac is more of a PC guy). I saw other people posting here and thought maybe you all could help! I noticed that EtreCheck is very popular, so I made one of these reports for more details. I appreciate any feedback you can offer

I had a similar experience (occasional random delay of tens of seconds) upgrade my 13 "2011 MBP ("8.1"model), but my SSD was MacSales (Other World Computing). Their customer support has been excellent. They had me download and run a program of comparative analysis (Quickbench; it was free for me but apparently now costs $15) who served the SSD and allowed them to diagnose the problem as a bad 'HDD cable. I was dubious, but I went to an Apple store nearby, and after a lot of hassle, pushed them to replace the cable and that fixes the problem.

Of course, you might have a different problem but the defective hard drive cable is apparently quite common and appears only when you use SSDS (because of the faster transfer speeds, I guess).

As I recall (it was several years ago), the first Apple tried to make me pay $60 for the cable, more work, before they admitted he was covered under AppleCare. It is easy to replace. iFixit carry the cable and has great instructions to replace, but they seem to be out of stock at the moment (they have a button "Notify Me" for when it becomes available again). Try a local supplier of Apple authorized (use the Locator).

When you get your SSD is working properly, I hope that you will be very happy with it. It makes a huge difference for me.

You can also use more common 2 1/2 inch SSD, although some users have reported some probloms with the EVO Pro 850 Samsun

  • Part number of MacBook Pro late 2013 SSD

    Hello

I have acquired a used MacBook Pro late 2013 (A1502 - EMC 2678) a few months ago, in which the DSS had been removed.

I knew that I had to replace the SSD when I bought this MacBook and found on the ifixit site that I had to buy an SSD with a part number in this list: 661-1838, 661-8136, 661-8138 (256 GB SSD).

"I've finally found one on Amazon Market place, and the SSD was announced as follows:" (661-8136, 661-8138) 256 GB Solid State Drive - Apple MacBook Pro 13 retina "A1502 / 15" A1398 (end of 2013, mid-2014).

But when I got the SSD, I noticed that the part number is printed on it is '655-1803D", which is the part number for MacBook Air Mid 2013 - 2015 SSD.

I contacted the seller to an Exchange, thinking that they had sent the wrong item, but he told me that the product was properly advertised on Amazon and showed me his description which indicates that following:

    Identification numbers:

    -Apple part No.: 661-8136, 661-8138

    -The printed part #: 655-1803, 655-1817, 655-1838

    -Manufacturer B21: MZ-JPU256T / 0 *, SD6PQ4M - 256G, THNSN2256GSPS

    So my questions are:

"Print" (those that appear on the SSD) part numbers are supposed to be the same as the Apple part number, or they are independent of each other?

Are SSD with part number cell phones compatible with MacBook pro computers A1502 655-1803 ' printed'?

    Thank you.

If it is, in fact, a number of part of Apple on the outside label of the SSD it should be certified by the manufacturer to run in an Apple/Mac products. SSD information displays the drive model number in disk label utility. These Apple Certified SSD will run through multiple products of Macbook. I hope this helps.

    Bravo!
