Just upgraded to Vista Home Premium to XP.  Got a Packard Bell with RF for the Media Center remote control, worked fine with XP, but is no longer compatible with Vista.  I checked the usb driver for the usb XF-10 rf remote receiver and it is fine, uninstalled and reinstalled it.  Handset was working fine a few days ago.  I also went in 'Administrator', 'services' and then active HID, but it still does not work.  Media works well, but it would be nice to have the operation of the remote control!  Not particularly computer, simply suggestions please!  Thank you, Nick.

  • FIX: "no mountable boot Volume' on Packard - Bell EasyNote A8

    Hello:

I want that my recent experience would be helpful to my fellow users.

My Packard - Bell EasyNote A8, running Windows XP Home, was to have a "Blue screen of death" problem very frustrating showing "One-Mountable boot Volume," at the start of the system, just after loading Windows XP logo, after a recent system total restore factory & all subsequent updates have been made. An extensive internet search was not much help. Physical damage to several sectors on the hard disk are likely, after all, there @ and 10,000 POH

    Solution:

    1. let regenerator HD program work for about 6 weeks continuously. I don't know how this has helped, it detected 100 many bad/damaged areas and repaired only 3. Had to manually stop because he was taking forever. He got stuck on 47118Mb, with @ 3Gb more to go.

2 restart the computer. Press the magic F11 button.

    3. system restore started. It is automatically detected and repaired the damaged partition. Everything is automatic. Just sit back & relax & follow the prompts on the screen.

    4. my Packard - Bell EasyNote A8 now return works perfectly as it was before the problem started. All updates completed. No "blue screen of death" until now.

  • Vista OEM reinstall (Packard Bell) without original CD

I had my machine for about 5-6 years now, it is running vista home premium and is an oem version. I bought from PC World and it is a Packard Bell machine.

I had not given a CD when I bought the machine and never had any guest to make a record when I first turned it on, I knew I had to. In hindsight I really should have asked. So now, my machine is stuck for years of use and I am wanting to do a new reinstall so I have a nice, fresh and fast windows to use. The only thing that has changed in my machine is my graphics card.

So the question, some of my friends (one who works for the Council as a technician) says if I get a copy of my version of windows oem, the oem key I have (on the side of the machine to stop) and I will be able to do to work, but to be on the safe side because I don't want a machine that I can not use , so I called packard bell and the person on the phone said that it won't work and I have to purchase a recovery CD on their part for £50 (ouch), the thing is that I don't want to 'recover', I want to reinstall completely. And I'm not really trust the person of packard bell as I suspect, he wants to just let me spend money that I wouldn't need to.

So who is actually correct? And is it possible to do an install on an external USB drive so I can test if it works before I do on my actual main drive for security?

    Hello Stephen-C

Do you mean that you have a partition without a name of 8 GB and then a C: partition that contains your operating system? If this is the case, regardless of the question whether she says that you have 100% free space (my recovery partition is 18 GB (Windows 7) and it also says that the drive is empty, but is not) files are obviously hidden. I suggest that you try to boot your machine and by pressing F11 (I think) to see if it displays a menu to restore your system to factory conditions.

Under normal circumstances, in their guide to the user, the manufacturer usually recommend create recovery discs as soon as you start using the PC. Some people do this, other not. If you cannot use the recovery partition by press F11 on start your machine, the only other option is to get the Packard Bell recovery disks.

  • Packard Bell M3671: New installation will not leave my upgrade or install updates

    Hello

My mother has a Packard Bell M3871. Recently, she had a problem she turn on the computer and the date would go to 01/01/2011 and not all startup applications start as the antivirus, etc. I decided to restore the system to factory settings. Worked well. The day following the date returned in 2011 and I was not able to use internet as he said the connection is not private and it was recommended to install updates. So I waited a few hours while he was looking for updates and without success. Continues the search now and find nothing. I even tried the upgrade to windows 10 but the GET installation stuck at 99% and after a manual reboot as usual, loads of windows 7.

    Any help is much appreciated!

  • Packard Bell m/c will now fire up to the "home page" - MS system is Windows XP

Windows xp now will not pull upward on the old Packard Bell computer, then the screen falls in "sleep" mode I have the original Windows XP disks, but does not help. Can I make a record of 'boot' via the net using my second computer?

Here are the instructions to burn a cd for the disk to boot Hiren that you can then run checkdisk, a memory test and other tools

    Courtesy of Jose Ibarra

Do you have a Hiren Boot CD, which you can download here:

    http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/

The ZIP file is large, so the download will take probably a little while to complete the bit it is worth.  Then unzip the download to extract the Hirens.BootCD.ISO file that will be used to create your new bootable CD.

Create a bootable CD. ISO file is not the same as simply copying the. File ISO onto a blank CD.  You must use software that includes how to burn a. ISO to a CD to create a bootable CD.

In the file Hiren ZIP are the file BurnToCD.cmd that you can double-click to start, but I've never used and prefer to use ImgBurn.

If you need a simple and CD burning, this is a free software popular software:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

When you install ImgBurn, DO NOT install anything from UniBlue or the Ask Toolbar (never install the ASK toolbar for nothing).

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your new bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.

These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When starting on the Hiren's CD, you will see a menu of options.  Choose Mini XP.  It will appear while Windows is loading and you will be presented with a desktop computer that has the look and feel of the interface of Windows Explorer, you are already accustomed to using.

A way to check the drive for errors is to open my computer and right-click on your afflicted player and choose Properties, tools, error, check checking now... put a check mark in the boxes and then start.

Sometimes that works, then you can also click on start, run and in the type box:

    cmd

Click OK to open a command prompt window and enter the following command (assuming that XP is installed on your C drive)

    CHKDSK c: /r

This disk check can last a long time (perhaps several to several hours) depending on the size of the volume, the amount of data on the volume and what the disk check finds to do.

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

According to the speed of your system, the size of the volume, the amount of data on the volume and what chkdsk finds to do, he may take a long time for chkdsk with error correction to complete (several hours) or it may seem to be 'stuck '.  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something to not interrupt him.  It finally end one way or the other.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You may need to run Chkdsk c:/r more than once.

  • The WLAN Driver problem with Packard Bell igo laptop

I have an old laptop Packard Bell IGO which I did a reinstall with XP Pro all what went well had no problem but now I am unable to find WLAN driverfor this model

I tried to Packard Bell, but they seem not to have my model.  I hope someone can help me please with this please.

    Packard Bell igo
    Model: MIT - WEA01

    1900 + processor
    clocked at 1.6 ghz
    352 RAM

Oddly enough, the site I linked to more early does not include a driver for a wireless adapter.

Although it is usually better to get the drivers from the manufacturer of the computer (especially for laptops) from other sources, if you cannot obtain a driver from the manufacturer of the computer, the next best source is the manufacturer of the device or of the less the manufacturer of the chip used in the device.

Go back to the Device Manager or msinfo32 and get the make and model of your wireless adapter.  For a more accurate identification, get the 'Device ID of Instance' (msinfo32 called cela the "PNP device ID").  It is a string of letters and numbers beginning with PCI.  You need only the first part of this string, for example:

    PCI\VEN_8086 & DEV_2449

You can then search the information here http://www.pcidatabase.com/ -->

I found a British site that offers to sell a collection of drivers for the Packard Bell iGO 2000 series--> http://www.user-guides.co.uk/cddownload/Packard/PackardBell/Packard-Bell-iGo-2000-XP-Driver-CD-Recovery-Restore-Disk-419868.html

You can buy this collection (which may include other drivers you need) or you can confirm the information located on this site that says that your computer has a "Intel Calexico2 (PRO Wireless 2200BG)" with PCI Device ID start wireless adapter PCI VEN_8086 & DEV_4220 (Web site displays the full PCI device ID if you want to compare that indicates your computer).

If this identification is correct for your computer, you can download (free) the driver for this device directly from Intel--> http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/highlights/wireless/pro2200bg/ (you can consider running one of the Intel/tools identification also device driver on this web page).

  • Can Win XP Pro on the Packard Bell System evolve?

You plan to upgrade to Vista or Windows 7.

If the answer is Vista, and then you perform an upgrade on the spot, that will keep all your applications and data intack. Note the bare minimum of RAM/memory you need for Vista is 2 GB and it runs slower than XP.

If the answer is Windows 7, then your only choice is a "custom" / Clean install which means that you must back up all your data file (on external support) and then once the upgrade is complete and then install applications. ". Memory required for Windows 7 are 1 GB for 32-Bit OS or 2 GB for the 64-bit operating system.

    Russ

    Hello

Close all programs and then put in a DVD - RW blank = what happens?

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and may your reading/reading on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
