  • Search bar is empty

I use the 34.0.5 version. After the update successfully a few days ago, I was customizing the toolbar, and I added the "show the sidebars" button to the toolbar. At that moment as my search bar erased and I have not been able to fix it.

    Have tried:
    -starting in safe mode
-restoring my profile from a FEBE backup
    -resetting Firefox to default state

In the screenshots you can see what the search bar looks like now in the toolbar and in the Customization screen:

I was wrong. I tried the SafeMode again and found it to be an extension creating the problem: organize search engines. Somehow I must have missed it the first time I tried.

    Problem solved.

  • My search bar is messed up after update. I want the old drop-down list back. I can't get anything now. Firefox is absolutely useless for me now.

Update of the Firefox software appeared. I allowed him to be installed. He wrecked the bar/search box. I use to be able to click on the magnifying glass icon and ALL options would seem the search engine and I could easily chose a. It has been easy. Now, nothing. I can't find anything through Firefox. Firefox is useless to me now, which means I have no computer. I have to go out and spend another $ 1,000 to get a new computer? This is not good. You shouldn't do that to a person. Not everyone is technically advanced that some of you are. Now, I have no means to look for anything with Firefox. I really liked Firefox. Now your a software update messed me all this. So what should I do? IE is worthless. Not sure, not sure, can not trust him. Never works right. May not print correctly. Update Firefox shouldn't have messed up my computer. I need to search and now I can't. I mean, it's really not good. So, just for you called brilliant Stanford types, when I click on the magnifying glass icon or the small, inverted triangle, there is nothing. The search bar is empty. White, white. Is no longer the quick menu drop-down window with all of the available selections of search engine. I have it? That's why I told myself. Have a real nice day!

    Then restart Firefox.

  • Start worm w 29 when I open a blank tab a search bar appears in the empty tab using yahoo...

Please don't forget the search next to the address bar URL bar works very well, I defined for Google and works perfectly.

HOWEVER, IN A VIRGIN TAB I opened my frequesnt visited sites are in tiles and just above the tiles there is a search bar another. If I type in a research itreurns, a Yahoo Search page. I have this nmot want Yahoo how to change to Google also.

More importantly, it is much more intuitive to have this search bar on the empty tab page... to use the same search engine default which is located above the main header alongside the URL address bar. None of us would then have ay question

    Great, thanks for posting back.

  • Home page is empty except for a search bar that does not work and an information bar that is empty.

'Google' is missing from the left of the search bar, the search bar does not work, the Info window is empty, the button 'Restore previous Session' is missing and the Firefox/Google toolbar with g-mail, hot mail, cards, etc is missing.

Try to move only the files you really need like bookmarks (bookmarks places.sqlite or restore from a JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder) and recorded the names and passwords (signons3.txt and signons.sqlite) and others saved form data (formhistory.sqlite) and make a backup of the files before replacing them, so that you can come back if the problem comes back.

  • Can I get the Firefox search bar for not automatically, go to the site of the search engine I spend?

The Firefox search bar seems to have changed since the last update. I understand that things are changing constantly and get used to them, but I wonder if it is possible to change the rear bar to the way it was, or at least understand why it changed.

Basically, I used to be able to switch from search engines by choosing from the drop-down list, and would not put me right at the site of this search engine. He didn't actually bring me to the site once I hit the search button (or enter). It's quite annoying to have to remember to open a new tab before changing search engines in order to avoid sailing away from the tab that you are currently on, and it's also annoying that when you open a new tab and change the search engines, you are immediately taken to the site of this search engine. It feels like an extra step (ranging from 'the empty tab search engine page to search result' instead of 'empty tab to search result').

I know it sounds like a minor complaint, no doubt, but I'm really really curious to know why it was changed. More important, I want to know if there is a way to customize the way it was.

    Thanks for any help!

Many users have been raising this issue. I mentioned the same question in this post here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1086138

In summary, it seems that the Firefox team is not intend to bring back the ability to return to the old bar search, which was possible (but in a very biased way) in older versions of 42. For now, you can either:

    • Download module additional classic restaurateur theme to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/?src=ss and then select the old search option
    • Go back to Firefox 42 and set the browser.search.showOneOffButtons property in Subject: config. However, with older versions poses a risk to the security that you won't have bug fixes provided with version 43
  • Search bar does not. No subject: preferences #search.

My search bar contains more search engines and by clicking on the magnifying glass provides and empty quickly. There is no topic: preferences #search more. The solution over another, similar, i.e. "uncheck Compatibility Mode" does not for me. This box is already turned off and if I check with the right Windows 8 operating system there is no change. I have already restarted Firefox.

Hi, this is probably because something on your system has crushed all providers default search in firefox. to recover it please download and reinstall firefox to https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ on top of your existing version.

Since it is a behavior often caused by adware on a system, please also run a scan complete of your different system with security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner.

How to get back the bar under the bar top search which were listed in all things, such as facebook, outlook, uncle henry wtc that I dragged from the entries in the top search bar? I lost him after a refresh. I also can't connect to mozilla accounts with my user name and password. Thank you.

You can enable (or disable) built-in Bookmarks Toolbar in Firefox using one of the following methods to view the list of the toolbar:

    • Right click on a place empty on the tab bar (or the button '+')
    • Press the Alt key to activate the classic menu bar > view > toolbars
    • in customize mode > show/hide toolbars

  • No search bar with 34 FF update. How do I get it back?

I'm not an expert user. My search bar disappeared with 34 FF... There is that an empty space where it used to be. Yes, I can search using the address bar and default, but lost search engine access to all other search engines I could use for specialized searches when the search bar was visible. Options > search lists all my other search engines under what we call the 'click', but cannot choose one of them and, as I said, there are no discrete search bar at all. How can I get that back?

34 Firefox changed significantly search bar, and it is possible that your Noia 4 extension no longer works with these changes. Page 4 of Noia has been removed from the Addons site, but in a copy cached by Google, the author stressed such similar extensions as potential substitutes:

You can also disable the extension organize search engines to see if what became incompatible.

You can see and disable and often configure settings and delete, extensions on the addons page. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions.

Typically, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

    Any difference?

  • I lost my search bar. I would like to take back.

I wanted to remove a search engine and eventually remove the search bar.

Make sure the toolbars as the 'personal bar' are visible.

    • Firefox '3-bar' menu button > customize > show/hide toolbars
    • View > toolbars (press F10 to display the Menu bar)
    • Right click on empty toolbar space

Open the Customize and set the toolbar to display items.

    • Firefox '3-bar' menu button > customize
    • Make sure the "bookmarks toolbar items" are on the personal bar
    • If "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the bookmarks toolbar, then FRY it in the palette to customize the window customize to the bookmarks toolbar
    • If the missing elements are in the palette to customize then drag them back into the window to customize the toolbar
    • If you don't see an article on a toolbar and in the palette to customize, then click on the "Restore default settings" button to restore the default toolbar configuration

    Hi Tora Bisu,
Thanks for the reply, but that did not help me because you didn't tell me where to find the ' Stop/reload button Hide URL' parameter, and I couldn't find myself.
However I have addressed myself in addons successively disabling and re-enabling them until I discovered the culprit.
The culprit that I discovered was the classic theme restaurateur, who has now been duly disabled and will not be used again.

  • Can reposition is no longer the search bar / address after upgrade to 29.0.1

I guess I just me am automatically "upgraded" to 29.0.1. I used to be able to drag the search bar / address on menu bar - where he lived with happiness before the "upgrade". Now it seems to be permanently set at some bar poster my bookmarks folders. I'd be tempted to call it the 'personal bar', but currently, this option is not checked in the context menu and check, it causes an empty toolbar is displayed. Or the search bar / address seems to be an element in the custom items menu.

The classic theme restaurant will give you this ability. This article has a link to download it and explains a bit about it - How to make the new look of Firefox as the old Firefox.

Let me know how it goes,

    Michael

  • How can I restore lost address and search bars?

I clicked on something in the search bar options, and the search bar and the url address bar disappeared. So, how to restore the address bar and the search bar?

Hi jackk1, you need to click right into an empty space in one of the toolbars at the top of your browser window and click on "Navigation Toolbar".

If you still do not have the address bar or the search bar, you must click right into an empty space as before and click "Customize." You should then find the address bar or the search bar in the new window, and you can drag the this window on the navigation bar. Then close the window 'Customize' and that should be fine.

  • How can I get rid of the google search bar? I don't want google

My browser is set to duckduckgo.com , as is the search bar on the top left.

When a new tab is opened, there will be a google search bar in the middle of the page. I want to go Google.

Is there a way to get rid of him. I don't want anything to do with Google.

Can you give me instructions on how to get rid of it. I found the google.com/firefox and thought I might be able to remove it from this way, but it will remove Firefox altogether?

    Let me know please.

Here's how you can reset which appear in a new tab. If this setting does not stick, one of your modules could be replacing it.

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search box that appears above the list, type or paste newtab and make a break while the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.url and enter the desired value:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

Press Ctrl + t to open a new tab and check that it worked. Fixed?
