  • Database Migration procedure

A customer wants to migrate their existing SQL Server data base of the remote instance of process Orchestrator local (2.3.4) to a database server.  Is there a procedure documented for this published anywhere?  Is it as simple as the backup and restoration of the TEOProcess and TEOReporting databases and edit manually the connection string in the Tidal.Automation.Server.exe.xml configuration file, or are there additional steps necessary?

Something like that, you should contact TAC to make sure that you have the right measures. I think that you have most of the right markets, but there may be more.

  • During a planned migration, which method of database migration is the best?  Data Pump or RMAN?

I ask this because I recently had to migrate a database to a new feature of ODA and our application developer head was upset because I used pump data to the database to the new platform and it took a few post import scripts to set permissions to what they were before the move.  He suggests to use RMAN, because it will restore the database to exactly how it was previously without having to restore the permissions.  I would like to know what methods are you using and which one is better?

  • What do I need install Oracle Database 11 g 2 for the Oracle 10 g database migration?

    Hi all

Would you be kind enough to help me with the following question!  I currently have Oracle Database 10 g on the old servers to my work and I want to install the GR 11, 2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Oracle database to new servers for upgrade.  I also forms, reports and Designer 10 g to maintain our existing applications.  So, I already looked in the Certification and found the following:

Latest version of the product: latest version of the database server window weblogic

    Form Builder 11.1.2.0.0 11.2.0.4.0 7, 2008 R2, 2008 10.3.6.0.0

    Reports           11.1.2.0.0                                           11.2.0.4.0                                                 7, 2008 R2, 2008                                   10.3.6.0.0

    Designer 10.1.2.6.0 11.2.0.1.0 xp, vista, 7, 2003 (all 32 bit)

For Designer, it is approved for a 32 - bit window, so I'm having trouble with the new requirement of system this window must be after 2003.  I want to take all of the availability and follow the Oracle certification (except that I will be given Designer because of compliance) as above.  I'm new with Oracle, and I don't know what comes with what to do it is complete.

    1. I'm going to install a database server (free 11.2.0.4.0 as described above) in a new server (2008 R2), then what I have to install the WebLogic Server with it?

    2. I'll install the generator of reports and Forms Builder (11.1.2.0.0) in another server (2008R2), so what I have to install WebLogic Server as well with her?

    3. what else do I need to install on this two server so that they work so that I can begin to migrate all existing data, forms and States more?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Remember that this forum is targeted to the Oracle Forms product, for questions about the database can be better answered in one of the areas of database.  That being said, here are my comments:

1 I'll install a database server (version 11.2.0.4.0 as described above) in a new server (2008 R2), then what I have to install the WebLogic Server with it?

A database facility didn't need of WLS (which I am aware). Consider what you want is a typical design at three levels. Database - average level (applications server) - Client (tools and end user).   Each level has nothing to do with the other installation point of view assuming that they are not installed on the same computer. WLS is a middleware software (medium level). Be sure to check the product documentation before performing any installation. The 11.2 DB docs can be found here:

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/index.htm

    2. I will install Forms Builder and Report Builder (11.1.2.0.0) in another server (2008R2), so what I have to install WebLogic Server as well with it?

Tools (Forms Builder, generator of reports, etc.) are not remote or web tools.  These must be installed on each developer's computer.  The installation of these tools does not require that WLS be installed first (on the developer's computer), but there is no need to be run unless the developer wants to apply locally for testing.  For a production deployment (multi-user), a similar concept will be used.  WLS will be installed first, followed by the forms and reports Services (runtime).  It will be on your remote server (medium level).  Software distribution you use will be exactly the same for the developer and the installation of intermediate level.  The difference will be in the options you choose during installation.  If you want to include manufacturers during installation, simply check the appropriate boxes when you are prompted.

Also, if you plan to use the forms/States 11 GR 2, I recommend not using 11.1.2.0 and instead use 11.1.2.2, which is the latest version. F/R 11.1.2.2 installation requires that you first install WLS 10.3.6.  You should refer to the product documentation before beginning any installation. Specifically, carefully examine the product Setup Guide and Guide to the system requirements. The 11.1.2.2 doc library can be found here:

3 what else do I need to install on this two server so that they work so that I can begin to migrate all the existing data, forms and States on?

Looks like you've covered everything.  The granular details will be covered in the Installation and Guides to the system requirements.

    My recommendations:

o ensure that each machine has at least 4gig of RAM

o ensure that each machine has a static IP address before you start any part of the installation.  This can be done without a static IP address, but you must take additional steps (see Guide to Sys Req).

o on machines where you plan to install WLS, make sure you have a 64 bit JDK installed first.  If you don't use a F/R 11.1.2.2, you must use Java 6.  However, if you decide to use 11.1.2.2, you can use Java 6 or 7.  Do not use Java 8 in all cases.

When it comes to the designer, it must be installed on an old machine.  In General, I do not recommend to use it longer.  Although there is currently not a way to full migration out of it, you can use SQL Developer to manage the db objects that were created/used with it.  There are several MyOracleSupport documents that discuss the issue.  You can search the Knowledge Base of MOS to find or contact Support for more information.

    Hello

I am migrating the database SQL 2012 for vcenter 5.5.  It worked fine, but I can't create jobs of Roll-up on the new SQL Server, because the vCenter database uses the custom schema 'Raphael', cumulative patch-work scripts fail to run because they are written to the default dbo schema.

I don't know how to change them all to work with the custom schema.

    Any ideas?

Hello, you can update the sql scripts used to create the jobs of roll-up, see this article VMware KB: update rollup jobs after the error: the performance data are currently not available for this entity -you can see the location of the sql jobs based on your OS, change and update accordingly to recreate

  • Discover the composer "database not supported" error

Try to install View Composer (v3.0.0 - 691993) on my 5.1 SP1 of SQL Server 2012 with vCenter server. I have a 64-bit DSN pointing to my database of view called VMwareView and the works of connectivity test. I use SQL authentication. At the Setup screen where the composer asks for more information about DSN, I enter my info and get an error message: "the specified database is not supported by [ProductName]. I tried pointing my DSN on a SQL 2008 Server with a database of VMwareView empty and got the exact same message so I don't think that the problem is related to the version of SQL server. No problem with vCenter and SQL 2012.

No work around for this problem?

  • Local SQL database migration from Vcenter 5 to a SQL cluster

    Hello

I'm trying to migrate my real installation vcenter 5 with a sql local database to a SQL clusster.

This is manipulation that I do:

    -Stop services vcenter

-Copy the mdf and ldf for the database files in my directory my SQL cluster

-Change the ODBC connector to specify the path of the database news

After this manipulation I try to restart services Vcenter and he pop up me an error.

After somes tests I do an unistall of the vcenter instance.

I have check the ODBC connector after unistall and it has been deleted.

I create another with the pathof my database to my SQL cluster and I restart installing Vcenter 5

When I check "use an existing database" and specify my recreate ODBC connector before.

    Installation works very well.

After restarting my server vcenter server start without problems and work.

I need to know if there is a possibility of just 'fix' the instance to specify the new database because uninstall the instance is a great action?

    Thanks for help you,

    Hello

I have try this manipulation in the laboratory environment and this work as a result of this step:

-Copy the files mdf and listening to your new location of the database database

-Unistall Vcenter Server on your server

-Remove the ODBC if not erased by installation

-Create it again with the new location of the database

-Restart installing Vcenter Server and specify "use an existing database" and refer to the ODBC connector create just before

-To complete the installation and launch your Vcenter

Attention I have try this experiment with a 5 Vcenter environment.

I don't know if it works with 5.1

  • Reconstructed View Composer databases, view server connection problems

I had to go back to a previous snapshot on my SQL database server that was right before I installed the database to View Composer.  Mode to connect to the server, there is a pool for the related clones.  How can I remove the pool?  When I try to delete it, I get an error that I do not remember the hand, but basically it has to do with the fact that see connection to the server could not find the swimming pool in the database.  Any ideas?

You would need to connect via ADSI Edit.    Check out this KB for instructions on how to remove obsolete work and clones, http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1008658positions.   This should give you an idea on how to connect to the ADAM database and navigate.

  • Database migration vCenter

I intend to migrate our database of vCenter since our vCenter server to our database server which is a virtual machine. I can do this during production hours? Good instructions on moving the database?

    Thank you

So that there is no activity on the vCenter DB movement can be carried out during production hours. But we must ensure that the vCenter automated Services are stopped (HA/DRS) and you must stop all services associated with the windows services console vCenter.

Come to Migration DB: its very simple as long as you use the same old data on a different DB Server. The only thing you should take care is adequate backup of current comics. Create/configure next new DB instance with the old data, then you need to point the existing ODBC DSN to the new DB on your Server.Test DB ODBC connection instance and start the vCenter Services.

  • Data loss Virtual Center Database migration sql 2000 2005

Hi, (sorry for my bad English)

I moved the db installation remote sql 2000 Server remote sql 2005. I basically followed these steps:

To migrate a database from the server vCenter 2.5 of SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005:

    1. stop the vCenter Server service.

    2. stop the vCenter on SQL Server 2000 database.

3 take a backup full database vCenter.

4 copy the backup of the database to SQL Server 2005 host.

    5. create a new database on SQL Server 2005.

    6. restore the backup SQL 2000 vCenter database to the newly created database.

7 correct permissions (same account, same password) see KB6565318

8 native ODBC SQL connection change

    9. perform a change/repair Panel vCenter & gt; Add/Remove programs.

10 in the Repair Wizard, I select custom and choose the newly created in SQL Server 2005 database.

11 the authentication type used on SQL 2005 is the same as that used on SQL 2000.

the license screen has an option box that says "I want to evaluate the product first," Setup does not correctly recognize the previous VirtualCenter database. » ???

Now I can access the BDD via ODBC, and I am able to start the VC service. However, when I opened the client - I SEE NOTHING. Everything is gone. Totally empty. The data is still there well. I can go in sql 2005 and open the tables and see my hosts and virtual machines listed.

    Help, please.

    Thank you!

I think that really there is a permission problem, but I'm not only deeply in SQL servers.

Did you check for orphaned users?

The permissions that are defined for the database of RESUMES?

    Kind regards

  • Plenty of export / import of database migration

    Hello
I'm migrating a database from one platform to the other, I installed the software on the target server db and I'm running dbca to create the target database. I plan to take a full export of the source database and do a full import in the target db.

    My question:

Given that I'll take a FULL export from the source and import FULL into the target, which are minimum storage space should I install with dbca.

The default list in the dbca Wizard has SYSAUX, SYSTEM, TEMP, UNDOTBS1 and USERS.

I really need to install all these since the full export will bring them to the database of the source?

    Thank you.

You better, unless all data file paths are the same.
If they are not the same, the imp will fail and nothing will be created.
If you are using expdp and impdp you a little more flexibility, but still of pre-creation should be preferred.
And the undo tablespace and a temporary tablespace are not exported in any case, so we are talking sysaux and users only.
    Not a big deal.
