Computer configuration virtual for SRM - files from memory Swap file/Virtual - best practice replication?

Hello, I am very new to the model DR VMWare and have a few persistent questinos.

What is the recommended best practice re: virtual computers invited windows and virtual memory files.  I think it would be unnecessary to replicate these changing data on the DR site.  I have several virtual machines with 6-8gig memory and I'm just wondering how can I isolate the ESX memory swap files and virtual memory in Windows feedback, so they get not replicated on the Dr site as often as changing os/data.  If it's even necessary to replicate.

We use vspere vcenter 4.1 related modes, RS 4.1 the two on-site Cellera NX4 ReplicatorV2.

I wonder if I can install the files of pages to be in a condition NOT replicated file system or a file system which is the only value replicates every 24 hours, or once a week.

My reasoning here is.  Once the file is there, the operating system really cares about the changes in this file and dumps windows virtual memory on a restart, as well as the .vswp file.

what I mean is built on a virtual disk full and placing the windows file on this virtual disk to Exchange.  This virtual disk could exist in a data store hosted on a celerra file system that does not get repeated as frequently as data/OS file systems.

or am I completely off base here.

I think that if you tried to reproduce these files and maintain a sync time minute 10, you would need a ton of bandwidth.

any suggestions or recommendations or even pointers to Articles/items worth points = D.

Thanks for your time.

Given that the configuration is made at the level of the cluster and has no impact on the SRM, replication is not a factor.  Don't forget, not to replicate the LUNS with the swap, just files have a LUN configuration on the side of recovery as well and have this defined cluster Exchange files.  Also, on the virtual machine critical we define reservations memory so the pagefile is not a factor at all.

Kind regards...

Jamie

    Hello

    Linux: ext3
    Solaris 10: zfs

For the best performance on ext3, you want to set the following (if possible):

    sysctl-w vm.dirty_background_bytes = $((10*1024*1024))
    sysctl-w vm.dirty_ratio = 40
    sysctl-w vm.dirty_expire_centisecs = 1000

In addition, put those in /etc/sysctl.conf to make them permanent.

    On ZFS.

    Set zfs:zfs_no_write_throttle = 0x1

    or

    Set zfs:zfs_write_limit_override = 0 x 2000000

I have a physical server with an attached drive HP 6400 Bay.

We want to convert it to a virtual machine.

    What is advised to do?

    Hello

For me personally I'd go with rehabilitate VM manually and then import / migration of data from P2V (using VMware converter) is generally not the sweet/good approach.

in regards to the San, you can deploy the virtual machine as RDM virtual mode as a pure big VMDK (2 TB - 512 bytes).

  • Store file path - best practices

I have a database that stores the path to the images that are loaded in a page.  All files are stored in the same folder.  My question: is it better to store the path of the entire file in my db or should I simply store the name of the file and make a constant on the Web page requesting the photo?  I think it's the second option, because there is less data in the DB but I wanted to just make sure.

    Thank you!

If the path is always the same, I stock just the names of files. Another option is to create a new field in your table for the path and assign the current path as the default value. When you insert records, simply add the file name; the path field will take just the default.

    In your SQL:

SELECT *, CONCAT(path, filename) AS image
    FROM mytable

If you already have records stored in the table, you can be updated very quickly with two SQL queries:

UPDATE mytable SET path = '/path/to/images/folder/'

    UPDATE mytable SET filename = REPLACE(filename, 'path/to/images/folder/', '')

  • best practices for placing the master image

Im doing some performances / analysis of load tests for the view and im curious about some best practices for the implementation of the image master VM. the question is asked specifically regarding disk i/o and throughput.

My understanding is that each linked clone still reads master image. So if that is correct, then it seems that you would like the main image to reside in a data store that is located on the same table as the rest of the warehouses of data than the House related clones (and not some lower performing table). The reason why I ask this question, it is that my performance tests is based on some future SSD products. Obviously, the amount of available space on the SSD is limited, but provides immense quantities of e/s (100 k + and higher). But I want to assure you that if, by putting the master image on a data store that is not on the SSD, I am therefore invalidate the IO performance I want high-end SSD.

This leads to another question, if all the linked clones read from the master image, which is general practices for the number of clones related to deploy by main image before you start to have problems of IO contention against this single master image?

    Thank you!

    -

    Omar Torres, VCP

This isn't really neccissary. Linked clones are not directly related to the image of the mother. When a desktop pool is created and used one or more data stores Parent is copied in each data store, called a replica. From there, each linked clone is attached to the replica of the parent in its local data store. It is a replica of unmanged and offers the best performance because there is a copy in every store of data including linked gradient.

  • Please advise a computer artist from novice about requirements for large files in PS?

I am researching my next computer.

I'm an artist currently using CS2 to rework my paintings into prints.

    http://s719.Photobucket.com/albums/ww198/blueridernz/Rachel%20Thompson%20Portfolio/?albumv iew = slide show

The paintings have been digitized in high resolution and are 500 MB.

Image files I work with are large, but the process is simple, I'm extracting and collages.

    Nothing too technical here.

As I need to print large, 9' x 4', the end result file could be 2 GB which I understand is the limit for PSD files.

I'm not games or editing video, just files work with large images.

    What I've read I think I need

    Core i7

Game 12 of 3 GB RAM

    GeForce GTX 460

    Any advice appreciated,

    Rachel.

The graphics card is perhaps a little exaggerated, if you paint really just and retouching in PS. A less hungry and less expensive model power would do the trick. The rest should do just fine, but remember that it will not do much good if you don't get a 64-bit operating system and may also upgrade CS5 to make use of all these resources. You might not even be able to install CS2 on Windows 7...

    Hello

Windows displays a temporary storage area where files are held before they are copied to the CD. Files or folders located in the temporary storage area are listed under files ready to be written on the CD.

Try the steps and check them off below if it helps:

    a. double-click my computer and then double-click the CD burner.

    b. under CD writing tasks, click on delete temporary files.

When you delete the contents of the temporary storage area, you can set this field to another set of files and folders that you want to copy to the CD. The files are not deleted from their location on your computer or on the CD.

Yes. There is no problem with their two different versions of
Windows. The files contain not what anyone who still marks that

But there is a potential problem. If the files have been created with a
