NTFS file cluster best practice deployment of Windows server on vSphere 5.1?

What are best practices, VMware or Microsoft that I need to know to make sure the server that I created 2 x Windows Server 2008 SP2 Enterprise MSCS of NTFS file (active / passive Cluster) can operate reliably to be accessed by more than 1,000 people?

The underlying data disk is RDM because I need to replicate the LUNS in the DR site using the tool table of SANCopy.

Not really an option... This is not supported by VMware in an MSCS configuration...

  • Is there a practice of the Windows Server operating system environment?

I'm looking to get some practice with the Windows Server operating system (2008 or other).  I came across the downloadable 180 trial period, but I don't mean to create a true server temporarily.  I'm looking to be able to have a completely 'virtual world' where I can actually add devices and simulate connect with different computers, etc.  I want to create an environment of virtual server completely, not the 180-day trial period where I create an environment that can have real computers to connect to it.  Such a thing exists?

For example, I used a program called Packet Tracer that allows me to simulate the addition of routers, switches and high-end devices to create a whole network of Physics in a virtual environment.  I can configure devices with IP address and all that I can learn how to build a physical network.  I would like to do with the operating system Windows Server if possible.

    Thank you.

  • Computer configuration virtual for SRM - files from memory Swap file/Virtual - best practice replication?

Hello, I am very new to the model DR VMWare and have a few persistent questinos.

What is the recommended best practice re: virtual computers invited windows and virtual memory files.  I think it would be unnecessary to replicate these changing data on the DR site.  I have several virtual machines with 6-8gig memory and I'm just wondering how can I isolate the ESX memory swap files and virtual memory in Windows feedback, so they get not replicated on the Dr site as often as changing os/data.  If it's even necessary to replicate.

We use vspere vcenter 4.1 related modes, RS 4.1 the two on-site Cellera NX4 ReplicatorV2.

I wonder if I can install the files of pages to be in a condition NOT replicated file system or a file system which is the only value replicates every 24 hours, or once a week.

My reasoning here is.  Once the file is there, the operating system really cares about the changes in this file and dumps windows virtual memory on a restart, as well as the .vswp file.

what I mean is built on a virtual disk full and placing the windows file on this virtual disk to Exchange.  This virtual disk could exist in a data store hosted on a celerra file system that does not get repeated as frequently as data/OS file systems.

or am I completely off base here.

I think that if you tried to reproduce these files and maintain a sync time minute 10, you would need a ton of bandwidth.

any suggestions or recommendations or even pointers to Articles/items worth points = D.

    Thanks for your time.

Given that the configuration is made at the level of the cluster and has no impact on the SRM, replication is not a factor.  Don't forget, not to replicate the LUNS with the swap, just files have a LUN configuration on the side of recovery as well and have this defined cluster Exchange files.  Also, on the virtual machine critical we define reservations memory so the pagefile is not a factor at all.

    Kind regards...

  • Best practices deployment CD to the internet non-connected PC

    Hello

Are there things or best practices to be careful during the deployment of CD player on the internet non-connected PC? We currently use drive X, which we are patching regularly via a field startup script. Specifically, I want to know:

    (1) CD player can be deployed in the same way that we currently do for Reader X (i.e. first install the base of the file through msiexec.exe /i package in a startup script, and then install the latest hotfix files using msiexec /p also using a startup script)

    (2) CD player does require authentication via internet, or can that be disabled via Adobe Customization Wizard or group policy?

    (3) can I disable all related and all features which requires an internet connection via Adobe Customization Wizard or group policy for clouds?

    (4) at - it nothing another important to know?

    Thank you.

Here are answers to your questions:

    (1) CD player can be deployed the same way we do it currently for Reader X (i.e. first install the basic package of the file through msiexec.exe /i in a startup script, and then install the latest hotfix using msiexec /p also using a startup script) - Yes, CD player can be deployed in the same way as the X drive. There is no difference.

    (2) CD player does require authentication via internet, or can that be disabled via Adobe Customization Wizard or group policy?  -No, only DC Acrobat requires it. However, CD player, is free and requires no all identifications.

    (3) can I disable all related and all features which requires an internet connection via Adobe Customization Wizard or group policy for clouds? -Yes, you can disable all cloud related features through the Customization Wizard or group policy

Ben above mentioned, you must always keep your reader to update to the latest version which has the latest security related bugs.

I hope that I have answered all your questions, and it helps. If you have any question, please report.

    Thank you

  • File system: best practices

    Hello

    Linux: ext3
    Solaris 10: zfs

For the best performance on ext3, you want to set the following (if possible):

    sysctl-w vm.dirty_background_bytes = $((10*1024*1024))
    sysctl-w vm.dirty_ratio = 40
    sysctl-w vm.dirty_expire_centisecs = 1000

In addition, put those in /etc/sysctl.conf to make them permanent.

    On ZFS.

    Set zfs:zfs_no_write_throttle = 0x1

    or

    Set zfs:zfs_write_limit_override = 0 x 2000000

  • What is the best practice for a 'regular' Server VMware and VDI environment?

What is the best practice for a "regular" VMware Server and VDI environment?   A single environment (ESXi and SAN) can accommodate two if it is a whole new configuration?  Or even better to keep separate?

    Enjoying inputs.

Quick and dirty answer is that "it depends."

serioulsy, it depends really two things budget and IO.  If you had the money for two without then buy two and don't have to host your server environment and the other for VDI desktop, their IO profiles are completely different.

If this is not the case, try to keep each type of use for their own dedicated LUN.

  • Cisco unity conn cluster integration with cucm cluster best practices

    Hi all

I'm trying to integrate a cucm with a cluster of cuc 9.1 9.1 cluster. Some confusing points that I hope can be clarified.

    for cucm

    1. I created a voicemail with 48 ports server that will satisfy both servers of cuc

    for cuc

I created a phone with two groups of ports system.

two point of Group on the same server port voicemail prefix but different servers cuc. each pg also has a different sequence of the tftp servers.

the problem with this design is that voice on the cucm ports not recorded with the port group that is configured to point to the cucsub. port groups cucpub point fits very well.

Is how to configure the integration of a cluster of cuc. I saw the guides but it is more oriented towards stand-alone configurations.

    Help please!

The SRND for CXN stipulates that all calls should be directed to the Subscriber with the Publisher handling overflow beyond the capabilities of the Subscriber and/or failover when the Subscriber is offline. They should not be balanced alternating.

You can create two servers of voicemail with the wizard and give them separate device classes if you need to register for the various nodes of CCM.

PS - You can also avoid this mess of all of the port on CUCM by integrating on SIP instead of SCCPS. In this case, you still have the CXN ports but they are only logical entities; CUCM has just a SIP trunk to each node. There is a separate for this integration guide.

Please remember useful frequency responses and identify useful or correct answers.

  • Store file path - best practices

I have a database that stores the path to the images that are loaded in a page.  All files are stored in the same folder.  My question: is it better to store the path of the entire file in my db or should I simply store the name of the file and make a constant on the Web page requesting the photo?  I think it's the second option, because there is less data in the DB but I wanted to just make sure.

    Thank you!

If the path is always the same, I stock just the names of files. Another option is to create a new field in your table for the path and assign the current path as the default value. When you insert records, simply add the file name; the path field will take just the default.

    In your SQL:

SELECT *, CONCAT(path, filename) AS image
    FROM mytable

If you already have records stored in the table, you can be updated very quickly with two SQL queries:

UPDATE mytable SET path = '/path/to/images/folder/'

    UPDATE mytable SET filename = REPLACE(filename, 'path/to/images/folder/', '')

  • SAN Best Practices for VSphere

    Hello world!

I am new on VSphere and newest on the SAN, but I want to make all things right from the beginning. Where can I find a best practice document on the SAN and VSphere? I am looking for some recommendations on the design and deployment of SAN. What size for VMFS? How many virtual machines are recommended?

I hope some of you can help me. Thanks for taking your time to read this

    Good bye.

Are what types of SAN you using FC/iSCSI/NFS? Nor the means, you should architect your storage space redundant with several storage processors connected to several switches / HBA several guests. For the size of the LUN, between 400-600 GB would be a good thing and not put too many guests on a single LUN to prevent the conflict in booking iSCSI and tend to be I/O-bound and result in "fly". Standard rule is 4-6 VMs by heart and it depends on the types of loaded applications. Always start with 1 vCPU and 1024 MB of ram, started by and increase if necessary. Not recommended to use extensions to within the data store so plan accordingly. If you use RDM to sql, exchange or file server purposes plan accordingly because it has limits on the mode to use. I read VMware best practices guides and use your practices best sellers as well. Good luck in your design!

There is not a general guide outside the configuration guide of product on the support page.

Partners have access to a guide designed for deployments of the value which is fairly comprehensive, but that is not published publicly.

There are some useful tips on recent presentations from Cisco Live in this area, but they are more PowerPoint as the deployment guide.

  • Windows Server 2012 does not seem to recognize the space between the program and files

    I installed 'R' in D:\Program Files.
Then I need to install another application that must refer to this path and validate during its installation. Installation of the next application saying that there is a "Invalid Version of R.

If I install R in the following directories, it is recognized and my next application installed successfully:
    C:\Program Files
    Files S:\Program
    D:\R

Windows Server is not recognize the R application properly installed in "D:\Program Files." Windows runs into the space between "Program" and "Files" and put an end to the execution of this order.

The application I am trying to install the message 'Invalid Version of R' returns because he can't run the command check correctly. Because nothing is returned from the R.exe, he is unable to continue. This issue seems to be related to Windows and once R.exe can be run correctly D:\Program files, I would expect demand to continue to install. Is anyway getting D:\Program Files to be recognized as the other 3 directories I mentioned?
