To activate the WLan under Win 8, you n t need to use the Fn keys
You can directly activate the WLan in Win 8 parameters.

Place the mouse on the top right
Charm bar would slip on. Choose the settings here
Now in the charming bar choose change PC settings
In the PC settings select Wireless.
Now in the wireless area, drag the slider of WiFi on / off to on position.

an old computer, but it works very well.  I want to switch to XP using the Windows upgrade disc. But

in the specifications it lists only 98, 98 Second and ME as an operating system you can upgrade.  Thanks John

Provided the specifications of the computer meets Windows XP you can switch from 2000 to XP. If it does not meet the specifications, you may upgrade the computer first or get a new one which is more cheaper today.

In addition, please note that you can only switch to Windows XP Professional. If it is a home edition you have then it will not work. You can refer to the link below on how to update your copy of Windows 2000 to Windows XP Pro.

  • Windows 7 Pro will not restart if printer on.

    Hello

When you click Restart, Windows 7 Pro will not reboot with a printer hp (L7680 or C309a) turned on.  The screen remains right on "Starting Windows".  Windows continues to load after that whatever printer is turned on.

This problem just started.  Never happened before.  I could always click on restart without problem before.

    Any help?

    Hey joe_do,

I see that you have a problem with the sequence of starting your Windows 7 Pro computer when one of your 2 HP printers are turned on.  How are these 2 printers connected to this PC?

Looks like that devices can be connected to USB and somehow the computer boot sequence put the emphasis for USB on the internal HARD disk.

  • Connection of the user before Windows 8 PRO WiFi connection

Windows 8 Pro, WiFi doesn't connect before a user connects.  I manage all the remote PC and restart them remotely via remote desktop.  In Windows 7, we had only to ensure that the availability of the wireless profile has been created for all USERS.  In Windows 8 PRO, even if I have my profile wireless for all users it does not.  If I try to connect with Remote Desktop, and a user is not already connected, the wireless connection is turned off.  If I connect remotely to a user, the WiFi off as well.  It is a major issue.  Is there a difficulty, a configuration change to enable the WiFi for the value IT if no user is logged on?  I'm about to go back to Windows 7 PRO.  Windows 8 is great, but I'm so again, I don't want to think about.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you, KG

Thanks PBWS.  In fact, I solved the problem.  The problem was caused by the WiFi I was using either WPA2 Enterprise encryption.  As soon as I changed my personal WPA2 worked well all.    Under Windows 7 PRO, it wasn't a problem.

    Thanks in any case.

  • My Windows XP pro would not let me change the option 'Use the home screen', so I removed a vital .dll file. I can't start Windows now!

My Windows XP pro would not let me change the "Use welcome screen" option under: user accounts/change the way users connect or power off.

He gave a message to the effect (I forgot to write it!) "a recently installed program does not change this setting. Search in the file named "RtlGina2.dll for a clue. So as silly as I can be, I did a search, finds the file RtlGina2.dll in the Windows/System32 folder and cut and paste on my desk. My thought was to isolate this file to see if it will address the problem of not being able to change the option use Windows screen.

Now, I can't run Windows! It gives a message that this file RtlGina2.dll is not found! Specifically, it says, User Interface failure. The UI for logon RtlGina2.dll DLL failed to load. Contact your system administrator to replace the DLL or restore the original dll.

How can I replace the dll if I can't even get started? Help, please! I know just enough to get me in trouble I see.

    WyoPathfinder,
Are you able to boot mode safe mode with command prompt?  If Yes, then you can search for the file "dir /s /a RtlGina2.dll" lists the location where you moved to.  Then you can just copy (path\filename) c:\Windows/System32\(filename)

If you do not work in safe mode, then you can boot from a XP disc and go into the recovery console and do the same thing.

Hope that helps. QQ learn manage!

  • My computer with Windows 7 Home updated for Firefox v34.0.5 but my two computers that are running Windows 7 Pro have not yet updated beyond Firefox v34.0. Something wrong?

See info above. I re - run the update process at least 10 times on the two machines running Windows 7 Pro (most recently this morning), and whenever the two machines running Windows 7 Pro (one is 64-bit, one is 32-bit) say that Firefox v34.0 is "up-to-date". I checked Mozilla.org, which States that Firefox v34.0.5 was released in mid-December, but he said nothing about whether this update was only for some OSs. I also ran several scans antivirus from different vendors on two machines running Windows 7 Pro and all scans show no problems.

Please advise is there are different versions of Firefox for Windows 7 family or Professional Edition, or if I'm having a problem. If I'm having a problem, please tell us how I can correct.

We changed how updates were deployed to a test, that's why you were probably the 34.0.5 on a computer and 34.0.0 on the other. The only difference between them is that 34.0.5 defines yahoo as the default search. You don't need to worry because of the different versions (who both were released at the same time BTW)

  • Windows XP Pro does not correctly load after the release of the Radeon graphics driver

    Hello

I have a Shuttle XPC with Windows XP Pro and an ATI Radeon Sapphire graphics card. The entire system is 5-6 years, if that helps my raw description.

My graphic card Radeon has had performance problems, so I downloaded ATI "autodetect tool" and he did choose the update of the driver concerned. After installation and reboot, my PC load Windows XP, but remains unused in ' grainy 8 colors low resolution version ' of my office. No icons, toolbar or whatever it is well visible. The mouse moves the pointer autour, but does not respond to clicks. The only combination of keys which gives anything is Ctrl + Alt + Delete, raise the usual options (in this case useless) to lock the computer, close the session, stop etc.

In short, it seems that I'm not really on my desk, even if it loaded my wallpaper by default.

'Safe mode' or "last working configuration" does not take me anywhere useful.

How to contact with the system to at least start to change my settings for graphics cards?

I thank very you much for any help.

  • Freshly reinstalled Windows 7 Pro will not activate

I have a Dell Optiplex 780, which has a Windows 7 Pro OEM sticker on it.  For some reason the previous TECHNOLOGY provider decided to install Windows XP on this machine and I am trying to fix this error.

Unfortunately, while the installation program gladly accepts the key of the sticker, activation failed.  Œuvres of activation, phone, or internet.

I tried to use the Dell SLP key as well, obviously no chance.

Dell offers more OEM media for this machine as far as I can find, and I don't want the OEM media still because it is full of additional bloatware, that no sane person would want.

How can I install the OS that computer was purchased with the help of the legitimate license attached to the machine key?

I've never had problems with this in the past, other OEM machines worked fine with the same installation media using the keys of their COST.  The phone activation is usually required, but worked at the difference this time.

  • Windows 7 Pro does not accept any RDP connection

    Hello

I have a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit of the system which was accepting OFFICE connections remotely without problem, but suddenly she stopped serving the RDP connections.
    Things I checked:
    -Three RDP services are running
    -Switched OFF Windows Firewall
-There are no events registered on the host computer and no events logged on the client
-There is no extra installed firewall software
    -Check the port number registry
-Tried to connect the network to the local ip address of the host
-Installed a packet sniffer, but could not see any attempt to connect to the host
-Tried a systemrestore point for back in time
Is there something I can do?

The problematic DRC host really listens on TCP Port 3389 (or whatever port you can have changed)?

  • Windows XP Pro does not recognize new HDD on thnkpad T61

Hard drive: 160 GB 7200 RPM SATA

The part number of Lenovo to the new hard drive on my Bill is: 41N5737

However, the sticker on the hard drive itself has this Lenovo part number: T 42, 1057

    It is manufactured by Hitachi.

    ThinkPad: T61 (8891-CTO)

OS: Windows XP Pro SP2 (newly purchased, retractable)

This thinkpad had Vista Home top. I bought the new hard drive to load a copy just bought Windows XP Pro SP2 top (.) After you install the new hard drive:

    1. I turned on the machine and inserted the Windows XP CD.

    2. the files on the CD (drivers, etc) started loading (in memory, I guess).

    3. then invited himself to choose if I want to install a new version of XP or restore an existing version.

    4. I chose to install a new version.

5 then I got a message saying that Windows could not find a hard drive on my machine.

6 then I rebooted and interrupted restarting to examine the configuration of the BIOS settings

    7. I found the hard drive test function and the hard drive test.

    8. it took awhile, but the test drive was a success. This hard drive is OK and the BIOS is updated.

How can I make Windows XP updated on my new hard drive?

    Thanks for any help...

    Tdc3, welcome to the forum,

change the BIOS settings in the Config > SATA AHCI compatibility mode.

  • Updates Windows XP Pro will not work!

Using Windows XP Pro sp3 IE8, I can not connect to Update from MS - start a program Microsoft Update, as well as IE or open Microsoft uptate tools; I get Page cannot be displayed. Diag is nothing. IE8 seems to work very well, I can get to all other web pages.

Sorry, it has not helped. I also tried the fix for Mr. were noted at KB 971058

I did however download download the file TDSSKiller.zip from http://support.kaspersky.com/downloads/utils/tdsskiller.zip

And that has worked very well all missing issues updated works very well.

  • Windows XP Pro do not validate after the removal of the hard drive

In an older machine, I have a copy of Windows XP Pro, it is validated and worked perfectly fine, until I removed a dying hard drive of the machine, then it is suddenly telling me that the OS is not genuine. I can't get to turn on again in a way that I can think of, and I don't see anything immediately above that might interfere with the activation. I would really not like to re - install the operating system, anyway I can activate it again without doing so would be greatly appreciated.
