Computer running real slow
I have Windows XP and can not find updates for it. Saw a link that says that XP would not be supported after 11/07/2010. I can't launch IE w/o it bogged down and searched all updates at once and found nothing. Had the same problem on another computer running Windows 7, has been able to find updates and works fine now. Can someone help me on this?

Take a look in the system and Application logs in the errors and warnings event viewer and post here the copies. Do not post on that more than 48 hours ago.
You can access event viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel, administrative tools, and Event Viewer. When searching for the meaning of the error, information about the event ID, Source and Description are important.
A tip for posting copies of error reports! Run Event Viewer and double-click the error you want to copy. You will see a button resembling two pages. Click on the button and close Event Viewer. This places a copy of the report to your Clipboard. Paste it into the body of your message. Make sure that it is the first dough right out of the event viewer.

Computer a real slow HELP Please!
I use vista and had a problem on the computer (don't turn off either) so I removed the battery when you restart it suggested do us a system restore. The computer will try to do the restore, but we continue to a message that the restoration could not be completed. The computer has become incredibly slow since that time and makes us crazy. Computer running very slow for macOS
Since I've upgraded to Mac OS this morning, my computer barely works. I frequently get beach balls, and even simple tasks take minutes where they used to take seconds.
It's an iMac of 2011 with 4 GB of memory.
Difficulty installing Sierra
Try each of them in order. A test to see if the computer works properly:
- Reset the PRAM
- Reset the controller (SMC) system management
- Start the computer in Safe Mode, and then restart normally. It's slower than a standard home.
- Repair the disk by booting to the HD recovery immediately after that the chime press the command and R keys until the Utility Menu appears. Choose disk utility and click on the continue button. Select the withdrawal (usually Macintosh HD) volume entry in the list to one side. Click first aid button in the toolbar. Wait the fact button appear. Disk utility and return in the Utility Menu. Avoid using any third-party cleaning software. Usually, this software does more harm than good. You don't need it. All computers become slower over time even in normal conditions of use. Experienced users erasing the hard drive and do a clean install from scratch, from time to time; or every time that the installation of a major update of the OS. Do means if you must maintain regular and several backups.
Add more RAM or reduce the number of simultaneously executed from applications and utilities. Delete unnecessary anti-malware software and any software that promises to clean your Mac. It is possible that you have apps which unknown to you, that run automatically in the background whenever you start your program. It is good to check if they are legitimate and necessary to launch when you start your PC.

A System Configuration tool runs. Go to the Startup tab. You will find a list of applications that are set to run every time your PC starts. If you recognize all of them, use Google to help identify their purpose. Many times, you can open the application that is in question and prevent the application from starting. If you have unwanted applications running in the background, it is best to either uninstall, our to disable the option that allows them to run at startup. Although you could definitely "uncheck" the application through msconfig.exe, it is essentially a tool of troubleshoouting and not intended for the struggle of the apps (even if you do).
You can always uncheck/check again on this list to see their impact when you then restart your PC.
Once you have verified that apps that are set to start, you can run Windows Task Manager and scroll elements in the process and Services tabs to see what is running. The Services tab can be pretty intimidating to investigate on (there is a lot of misinformation the ' net), so if you are unsure about the services listed, it is best to ask or to jump on this area.

Computer runs very, very slowly.
Computer is about 5 years. Very slow response when you perform simple activities such as Excel, viewing, and editing. To make a temporary fix, I do clean disk and Defrag the c: drive. Good for a few days and then cpu becomes slow again. Would make permanent solution, but don't know what the problem is. Any ideas?
