Computer XP will shut down and restart itself
recently, my computer in xp, will suddenly stopped in the middle of something and will restart back immediately. I have to sign in as usual and proceed from there. I don't have to push to activate, as says it that it stops, then restarts, whats going on? Sometimes it will be a few times in the night, back-to-back sometimes a couple of times distributed on, or as the last two nights again, not at all.

Hello Shadowshep,
Your question is still there while in Safe Mode? If so, you try to run a SFC scan for troubleshooting the corrupted system files on your PC:
Your computer may also be infected and needs to be cleaned in order to work properly. I suggest that you try the steps listed in the related post below for help in the removal of malware:
http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/security_essentials/default.aspx
You can also try a clean boot troubleshooting method to see if it helps you solve your problem.
I hope this helps.

My computer won't shut down or restart
There was an update of the systems, and after that I installed it my computer is unable to shut down or restart. I have to hit the power button to get it to turn off. When I close all the way down he does is get rid of the toolbar and icon of my office leaving me just my wallpaper. Now, I have an update that requires a restart. What should I do?
Outdated software for a Tablet Wacom can prevent the closing. If you no longer use the device, please remove the software. Otherwise, update the latest version of the Web site of the manufacturer.
After following the instructions on the removal link above, you may also need to open the users and groups in system preferences, select the login items tab and remove all Wacom related items. It is because the uninstall program is defective.
Back up all data before making any changes.

If Lightroom opens upward, disable the use of the GPU in Lightrroom.Uncheck 'Use the graphics processor' preferences > Performance.
In addition, please ensure that you use the latest version of Lightroom.

Computer automatically shuts down and restarts after 5 minutes run time
Two days ago, restarted my computer, which worked very well for a few hours, (& a few years) suddenly automatically. He then ran fine for about 4 hours when it restarts again. He has now made that ~ 20 times, some time to restart after 5 minutes. It also does if I connect on behalf of my wife, or if I boot in safe mode and log on as an administrator. As much as I know I have no virus problem, but I can't be sure that it didn't stay on long enuf to run my antivirus program to the end. Malwarebytes and Superantispyware both showed no problems two days ago, but now they also will not work I tried to backdate the system (System Restore) to last week, but failed, perhaps because I removed an old Norton SystemWorks program two days ago, when I got hurt, because I thought that maybe that's the problem.
Is it a hardware problem or software?
Now, I am trying get useful data on the device by frustrating bursts of 5 minutes. Windows XP, service pack 3 with automatic updates.
Thanks for any help.
As a follow-up, I now declare that apparently the drive was packing with something irreplaceable on it grilled, so I'm ready for a new machine.

Windows 7 will not shut down or restart
Hi guys, basically for the 3 days since my computer won't shut down or restart. I normally turn off every night and I've never had this problem before. I used the tool to update window update, but it says that it cannot complete the installation until I restart, but obviously I can't do that either.
I tried to change the power does-that is to say buttons when the laptop closed = stop down. But even that won't work.
Anyone has any ideas that could help me solve this problem?
Thank you.
