Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.

  • Now computer shut down or restart.

Windows 7 do not stop or restart.  If the updates are coming in the middle of the night, I noticed that the computer restarts, but I don't have any idea how long it takes.  Most of the time, I have to manually turn off the computer and restart.  I don't get an error message.  I would like help, but in other words please because I'm a competent computer user, but not a techie.  Thank you.

    Hello hellie68,

What updates you trying to install?

    Step 1:

Allows you to check the updates that are not proceed with the installation as well as the error message by going to the update history.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/troubleshoot-problems-with-removing-updates

    Step 2:

Run the Windows update troubleshooting tool and check:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Update-Troubleshooter

    Step 3:

Put the computer in a clean boot state, and check if that helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

    * original title - I have a virus? *

    Hello Shadowshep,

Your question is still there while in Safe Mode? If so, you try to run a SFC scan for troubleshooting the corrupted system files on your PC:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/system_file_checker.mspx?mfr=true

Your computer may also be infected and needs to be cleaned in order to work properly. I suggest that you try the steps listed in the related post below for help in the removal of malware:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/security_essentials/default.aspx

You can also try a clean boot troubleshooting method to see if it helps you solve your problem.

    I hope this helps.

Two days ago, restarted my computer, which worked very well for a few hours, (& a few years) suddenly automatically.   He then ran fine for about 4 hours when it restarts again.   He has now made that ~ 20 times, some time to restart after 5 minutes.   It also does if I connect on behalf of my wife, or if I boot in safe mode and log on as an administrator.   As much as I know I have no virus problem, but I can't be sure that it didn't stay on long enuf to run my antivirus program to the end.   Malwarebytes and Superantispyware both showed no problems two days ago, but now they also will not work I tried to backdate the system (System Restore) to last week, but failed, perhaps because I removed an old Norton SystemWorks program two days ago, when I got hurt, because I thought that maybe that's the problem.

Is it a hardware problem or software?

Now, I am trying get useful data on the device by frustrating bursts of 5 minutes.   Windows XP, service pack 3 with automatic updates.

    Thanks for any help.
