I was pulling out my hair trying to find if there could be anything in the temporary files that I have to keep the last few weeks. Then I came across this: "the release of Avast 10.3.2223 (we think it's this version) has resulted in questions with avasts prevention of Thunderbird.

Matt, thanks. I read your blog post. I need to replace my HD and I've been fretting over if I have to loose important data from the temporary files. Apparently not. When I talked about ccleaner, it was in the generic sense. I avoided ccleaner because I thought it was a big hammer and some data that he brags about getting rid of I really want to continue. I know that I can choose what remains and what is happening, I'll have to give him another look. Once again thank you.

As far as I know, it is not an easy process. As far as I know, there is not a direct approach. If you think that you are an advanced user, it can apply these:

    • First you have to find the browser.db, with the help of a powerful as Es File explore File Explorer or Z-archiver
    • The path of the file is / device / data / data / org.mozilla.firefox / files / mozilla / default
    • Then, download free SQLite Database Browser (http://sqlitebrowser.org/) for your laptop
    • Open browser.db with the app and export "bookmarks" table in an Excel table
    • You have a slight change in Excel and create. HTML file
    • Then, you can get your desired result!

  • Many fonts render when Firefox opens the local html file

I use a 3 rd-party program called Fontlist. He reads all the fonts in the Windows fonts folder and then uses a line of the user selected text to generate a html file on the hard drive that shows the line of the text displayed in each font. Because it is a program of the 3rd part, I have no control over it is programming html.

When the generated html file is browsed with Internet Explorer, all fonts display correctly. When browsing with Firefox, maybe half or more fonts have a police-looking ordinary backup who suite. I was not able to discern any trend as to what type of font is displayed correctly or does not work.

In the research online, the problem, I saw a hint that assigning false to security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy could solve the problem. I tried, and it had no effect. Also, in the advanced option to fonts and colors, I checked the box to let web pages to choose their own fonts.

Would there be other parameters that would allow Firefox make virtually any standard font industry installed on the system? This can affect all 3 rd-party sources, not only Fontlist html files.

The css generated by Fontlist puts no quotes around the family names of fonts, including those with a numeric parameter. This explains the part of chess, but not all.

It is obvious that the html and css accepted by Internet Explorer is much more forgiving than FF.

The Fontlist developer will have to address this issue.

Are these some HTML files that you have saved on your computer?

Firefox can display HTML files saved locally, but depending on how the pages were saved, some items may be missing. There are also some security restrictions that Firefox applies to files space in a different way than the pages on the web. Yet, it is worth a try.

Normally, by double-clicking the file will launch it in your default browser. If there are problems with the display, could you describe it in more detail?

The file is unzipped now... it's a folder art tutorial... and maybe I did the wrong thing by asking my Wordpad for opening the text file. Which is written in HTML. Whenever I click on it, all I get is the raw HTML on a wordpad document. Maybe I should try to download the tarball again? I have another one that is in PDF format, which is not a problem at all! It is with this text file not PDF that gives me headaches...

[EDIT] Nevermind, I found it! Change of Wordpad is not bad. I right click on this file and of course it shows Firefox as the first option! I don't know how I missed it before. But when I chose that file opened fine in the browser.

All is well now! Thank you! -rosebud

  • Is it possible to edit html files in firefox with Notepad?

I have edited html files in Internet Explorer with Notepad, but am unable to see how to do in firefox. I've looked under all the menu choices, including tools and options but had no luck. I googled the same question and got some clear answers. Thank you

Please note that Firefox has a built-in editor called Notepad (Firefox/tools > Web Developer) as part of the developer of the tools that you can use to edit files, including HTML files.

    • Press the ALT key, or press F10 to display the Menu bar.

  • I'm not able to open html files in firefox after I saved it.

After you have saved the html files, I'm not able to open it, and it is showing the blank page. Please suggest solutions.

Have you tried opening them with:

       New Tab>>File>>Open File

  • The Firebox and open IE homepage design instead of http html files saved on the HARD drive

This has not happened before, only in the last 3 days. Don't install anything on PC other than Itunes and possibly - automatic updates on Win 7.

The ONLY way to open the saved html file's right-click: open with-> choose default program-> Firefox.

It does not open the file on double click or right click: open with-> Firefox, or do a right-click: open with-> choose program by default-> IE, in all 3 cases it goes to the home page.

There was some adware or malware Rollup file Opener that I uninstalled but still see some vestiges in the troubleshooter.

Hello almot09, apparently you still have vestiges of this adware in firefox > addons > extensions.

Please run a full scan of your system with the security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner that are specialized to remove browser hijackers.

  • Firefox will not export all my favorites to an HTML file.

When I export my bookmarks to an HTML file, some of them are missing when I open the file. Is Firefox displays only not all correctly, or is there a limit of bookmark that I missed? I have about 3 734 bookmarks. I know it's a lot, but I still want to know if there is a way to adapt to each of them in a HTML file without having to delete everything.

Also, these bookmarks are missing if you check the HTML code in an appropriate editor?

You can consult the database places.sqlite with this extension:

  • I can't have my favorites of IE 8 bookmarks Firefox (ver.25.0.1) even after export IE fav. html file and then import via the bookmark manager!

using professional XP, hundreds of favorites in IE 8. I can't their in Firefox, either directly by the Bookmark Manager (show all bookmarks/importing data and backup/import from another browser OR exporting favorites in IE 8 to an html (fact) file and then get back Firefox Bookmarks and using bookmarks/show all bookmarks bookmarks-import and backup/import html file.) I find the file, double click on open, BUT nothing happens in the bookmarks library?

It is not one case about others come more - nothing happens?

Have you tried a search in bookmarks (library) Manager since some know bookmarks?

Problems with bookmarks and history does not properly can be caused by a corrupted database places.sqlite file.

You can check for problems with the database places.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • I want to replace my list of bookmarks with an import html file - how can I do this?

I have a file of bookmarks in Firefox. I want to replace the file - delete the current as well as all bookmarks - import a new HTML file to bokmark to serve to my bookmark list primary.

    How can I do this?

    Thank you very much

    John

You can delete the places.sqlite file and any backups JSON in the bookmarkbackups or move them to another folder if you want to keep a copy.

Then, you can import this HTML file.
