Configuration recommendations

Hello

Can someone help me out please?  I had a nightmare trying to get the work of the HA, but that's for another post.  First of all, I want to reconfigure one of my boxes of ESXi from scratch with your expert advice...

I have a HP DL 380 with 2 NICs embedded G4.  I installed a quad extra (4) port nic and 2 QLogic storage.  Can you tell me why exactly I have to configure the box?

I think it is...

HBA0 - private VLAN 2?

HBA1 - private VLAN 2?

pNIC0 - & gt; vSwitch0 - & gt; Portgroup0 (service console) - private VLAN 1?

pNIC1 - & gt; vSwitch0 - & gt; Portgroup0 (service console) - private VLAN 1?

pNIC2 - & gt; vSwitch1 - & gt; Portgroup1 (VMotion) - private VLAN 2?

pNIC3 - & gt; vSwitch1 - & gt; Portgroup1 (VMotion) - private VLAN 2?

pNIC6 - & gt; vSwitch3 - & gt; Portgroup3 (the VM network) - LAN Public

pNIC7 - & gt; vSwitch3 - & gt; Portgroup3 (the VM network) - LAN Public

The part I don't understand is the VLAN.  Service Console and VMotion are on separate of VLAN (required in esxi 3.5) or the service console must be on the Public LAN?  The HBA should also be on the same VLAN as the VMotion VMKernel?

Very confused

Thank you.

I guess you have iSCSI HBA.

First of all, make sure you redundancy using ports from different physical network interface cards. If port goes down, it is very likely all multiport NIC breaks down. VMotion shouldn't be on the public network.

You can combine Service console and VMotion networks for a local VIRTUAL network, since you don't have enough ports on internal NIC I just pNIC0-3 is the quad, and pNIC6-7 is internal?

vSwitch0-> Portgroup0 (service console) - pNIC0 active pNIC6 Eve - private VLAN 1

-> Portgroup1 VLAN vSwitch0 private (VMotion) - pNIC0 pNIC6 active standby - 1

All the other natachasery also active adds to vSwitch1-> Portgroup2 (VM Network) - network Public

HBA0 - private VLAN 2

HBA1 - Private VLAN 2

  • SAN storage configuration recommendations

We have a HP SAN with two fiber switches and a Bay of storage MSA2012FC with 12 146 GB drives.  I am trying to decide how to configure storage for our VI3 environment and seeks recommendations.

At this point, I am considering two-Bay RAID 10 (6-146GB disks each) with 1 (220 GB) or 2 (440 GB) LUNS defined by the RAID array.  The virtual machines are configured in an HA configuration so I think it would be better to have two tables separated raid against one.  This way I can separate the pairs HA between the RAID arrays.  If I create a single RAID 10 array, then if more then one disk fails in this table we could lose everything.  In the future, we will add another MSA2000 pregnant then we will have another 12 146 GB drives.  At this point, we can expand each Bay RAID 10 to 12 146 GB drives to give us more storage space and performance.

This sounds like a good plan?  Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hello

RAID 5 is recommended because the table can stay together if 1 disk breaks down. With spare disks, this is a good configuration. RAID 10, a disk fails and you are switched. If this also works...

I like Raid 5 and I have set up my disk space based on execution of 10-12 VMs per LUN. Who is the the average number per LUN. It's all about redundancy.

  • ESX iSCSI Configuration recommendation

    Hello

I wonder what is the best configuration of the storage card in the following scenario to provide a NIC host and SAN controller redundancy. The SAN must be directly connected to each host that I don't have one at the moment gigabit switch, which means each link point to point in its own subnet as below.

    Host 1:

    iSCSI_A1: 192.168.1.2/30

    iSCSI_B1: 192.168.1.5/30

    Host 2:

    iSCSI_A2: 192.168.1.9/30

    iSCSI_B2: 192.168.1.13/30

    ISCSI SAN:

    A1 of the host: 192.168.1.3/30

    B1 the host: 192.168.1.6/30

    A2 of the host: 192.168.1.10/30

    Host B2: 192.168.1.14/30

According to the article, VMware KB: considerations for use port binding software iSCSI in ESX/ESXi, I should not use links in Port because each link is in a separate broadcast domain. Does this mean that I have to put up 2 iSCSI adapters on each ESX host software and just use the dynamic discovery?

    Thanks for any help.

Of course, no problem. Make sure you see both paths, under Configuration-> storage adapter-> select your iSCSI adapter. Example like this. In this case, I have 12 aircraft 24 channels, so 2 paths to each device (LUN).

  • The best configuration recommendations

We spend all our servers (virtual and physical) to all Essentials Plus take advantage of the AH.  We bought a SAN to use for shared storage.  Here's what my plan was and I would just positive, negative, and recommendations.

    3 Dell 710 guests

1 TB SAN 18 for shared storage

    About 15-20 VM

    1 physical dell server

I'm 3 710 with ESXi of loading and pointing to the farm of the virtual machine to the San.  I'm fine with the part.  The virtual machine will take advantage of the HA and move among the 3 guests if necessary.  The important thing, with that I'll back puts vCenter Server on the physical machine.  The physical machine will act as a Backup Exec server.  We use external hard drives as backups, and they seem to work well better connect on a physical box.

Should I put the vCenter on the physical box or as a virtual machine with the farm on the San?  I get nervous to have on the SAN if the SAN dies.  Is not something to fear?

vcetner on a virtual machine is very good.

If the san dies then you loose everything anyway, have vcenter on a physical habit help...

This is what your backups are for.

  • hardware configuration recommended for laptop

I'm about to buy a new laptop.  What is the optimal configuration of the laptop for the creative cloud?  It must probably be Windows because that's what I have to work.

There is no single perfect configuration.

It depends on who the apps you use and how you will use them.

Most of the new laptops on the market will run most applications of cloud very well. But if you have specific requirements, then some adjustments may be needed.

Minimum system requirements for different applications are listed here:

    System requirements | Creative cloud

Focus on applications such as Premiere Pro and After Effects (if any) and Photoshop (as appropriate).

  • 11.1.1.3 Server Configuration recommendations

We expect an upgrade to version 9.3.1 to 11.1.1.3. We currently manage the following configuration:

Server1 (2 processors dual core, 4 GB Ram): Essbase
Server2 (2 processors dual core, 8 GB Ram): Shared Services, workspace, EAS, APS and DIM (Informatica)
Server3 (2 processors dual core, 8 GB Ram): financial information, planning and analytics

O/s for 3 servers is Windows 2003 SP2 32-bit. All of our relational data are maintained on separate servers that administers ITS.

We rely on buying new equipment for the upgrade. Our current configuration has treated our user and application of the load very well. I wonder if we could get as good or better with a new big 64-bit server (dual-core processors 4, 16 GB of Ram). Fewer servers means less maintenance and planning simpler when there are dependencies between components. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on this or you encounter a similar situation.

    Thank you
    Jeff

The con is the conflicts of CPU resources in particular. If you have a very calc intensive cpu running, it could slow down other calculations that need to run. you might also have problems of timing of maintanance. If you need lower Essbase for backup or other reasons, it affects all users of other applications. There are also some functions like copy of applications that can block the system until they are complete which can affect others.

Frankly for me they are not compelling reasons to split production, but they are reasons and you are looking for some of the idiots

  • modem router WAG120N wireless security configuration

I use modem router wag120n but is confused abt how to set up wireless security of it is. Security Wireless Configuration recommended in tutorial given here is very different from what is given in my page of configuration routrs.

I don't know how to manage the key renewal option. If I leave as 3600 seconds does that mean that I have to enter my device a new key wireless connected to the router after every 1 hour?

Well well with firmware linksys/cisco security gateway wireless configuration seems even that is mentioned in the link provided: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&app=vw&vw=1&login=1&json=1&docid=7b0d8344c5524f75a8d5b... . But if in case it looks different let it me know what exactly what you see in the configuration page.

Group key renewal determines how many times your group exchange key. The renewal time should not be too short or too long. The default is 3600 seconds.

You don't have to deal with the renewal of key. It happens automatically. Customers do not lose connectivity, just the key for the changes of the connection. You won't notice. The longer the interval longer guarantee the link (in theory) as a striker who wants to break the encryption key has less time and less data to work on...

But once again: it does not affect customers wireless connected. It's all past automatically just as it happens when the connection is established in the first place.

  • Recommended system requirements for Illustrator CS6

    Hello

Wanted to know what system configuration recommended for the execution of Illustrator CS6. Although this information is displayed on the site Web of Adobe a couple of salespeople said to a workstation entry level for the treatment of the hi resolution images. We are in real estate and deal with hi resolution pictures for advertising, panels etc.

The workstations are quite expensive compared to the all in one PC of office that are available on the market.

    Please guide.

    Kind regards

    Amit

any 64-bit computer that supports a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 would be able to bear to illustrator cs6.  That is to say, it is rare to find a pc/mac 64-bit that did not meet all specifications of the Illustrator 6.

If you are considering buying a particular computer and you want to know if it meets the specifications, post a link to the computer.

  • Does not receive new emails from thunderbird to my gmail account not

    Hello
Since 4 February I get new emails in my thunderbird (version 31.4.0) to my gmail account. I can send emails, however.
I have 2 other e-mail accounts and that they do not have the same problem. If I have access to my account gmail since the browser or my phone, I can see the most recent messages without problem. I have reviewed the configuration settings (IMAP) and they seem correct, incoming and outgoing.
I already followed all the advice I could find online (removed McAfee, corrected some configurations recommended by gmail, etc.), but nothing helped. I would be grateful for any help.
    Thank you very much

  • Satellite A300 - 15 d: good for games?

    Hello
I'm about to buy Satellite A300 - 15 d, and my question is:
Is there someone at - it tested about this laptop with latest games?

Since he gets some nice hardware (on paper), so I am abit frustrated if it runs smoothly to new games, or it to freeze or restart every 5 min. because of overheating problems.

I can't find a good review of this book, so please if there is someone who has tested A300 - 15A with games like Crysis and Age of Conan, please can you me if this machine is stable for the games or not!

    Thanks in advance

P.S. - Very very sorry for my bad English! : P

    Hello!

First of all, I want to tell you, that I do not own this piece of hardware, but I would like to discuss some points with you, which can help you, I hope.

To be honest, I don't think you'll be happy playing the high end like Crysis on this machine games. As I play this game too, I can tell, it's a killer of real hardware and even on my very good desktop PC it does not also smooth I wanted he would run.

I don't like online RPG like Age of Conan or World of Warcraft, so have not checked this hardware configuration recommended, but everything I read it too has some powerful hardware.

Not knowing does not, if you want to play your game with all the detail on a high and maximum or simply resolution settings happy that if games are playable, I don't know if this is the right machine for you.

Have you already checked other series like Qosmio? Looked to me like a beautiful piece of hardware but did not have one or let me know better.

  • Max in CPA devices?

What is the maximum number of devices that can be set by the CSPC, using the recommended default platform VM?

To expand a bit; This network runs a routine of DAV followed a comprehensive collection of data then download Cisco.  As this will take place in "quiet hours", it must be complete inside ideally a 4 hour window.

    Hi Graham,

Recommended for a server of the CSPC, based on the configuration recommended, is the official size of 10 k devices *. It is obviously one of these beautiful big round numbers, so it should be taken with a pinch of salt.

You can deploy collectors as much as you want, so its always better to keep the servers well under 10 k each.

    Thank you

  • How can I connect administrator... permanently?

I just got a computer with Windows 7.  I had a problem with a shareware software: the key of the software would not 'take' until I ran the program as an administrator.  I think that what is happening because enter the registration code writes to the registry and if would work for this session. that is, he returned to the mode of trial with a reboot.

In any case, I am the only user on this computer; the account type is "Administrator".  It actually means something?  Why do I always have to "log in as Administrator"?  Can I do this permanent?

You do not want to, or you want to only one user account. See below for a user configuration recommended. Your assessment of why the shareware program needed to be run as Administrator was correct and you handled it perfectly.

User - recommended configuration (Vista and Win7) accounts

You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all other Windows 7, Vista, and modern operating systems are operating systems multi-user with integrated system of accounts as default Administrator and comments. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want account only one user with administrator privileges on Vista and Windows 7 because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult. It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but it may require more work you want to do. Better not to get into a bad situation at first.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. As a user Standard is recommended for security reasons and will help protect your computer against infections. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null). MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
