What should I do to rebuild the table and see the data? Apparently, the server crashed some time after the office closed last Friday, but before that backups ran, so that we have not backed up the data on Friday.

    Thank you

    Baskervi,

Start the BIOS of the controller (CTRL-C)

    Select the controller

This will bring you to the adapter properties window.

Use the arrow keys to highlight and select Properties RAID, press on enter.

This brings you to the window again select array Type, there is now an option to view existing matrix. Using the arrow keys, select view existing array,

Select the Inactive matrix. Select manage the Array.

The only options available is to activate the table or delete the table. In order to get this controller to accept the disk configuration, select Activate array by using the arrow keys to highlight, and then press ENTER.

    Confirm Activation.

Return to the main menu and select SAS topology and check that the two tables are active.

Let me know how it goes.

  • ESX4i does not see the RAID controller card

I install the ESX4 and the ESXi4. Considering that ESX sess card RAID controller, ESXi4 will not work. I was wondering if there was a solution to this?

Memory I don't remember ESXi4 support adding additional drivers (unlike ESX4 Installer) but I was wondering if I climbed to U1 ESX4i, that would help. Or is just "not supported"?

My problem has been resolved by the way of the ESXi 4.0 to ESXi 4.0 Update 1... which includes a driver update...

I managed to ESXi in order to run from a USB key on the servers, but found the previous day, and DPM mode did not work properley. While he was going to suspend the ESX box very well, the machine just and seems to lose its settings to boot PXE boot - regardless of what I did with the BIOS...

I found ESX4i U1 to install on the physical disk is more reliable...

  • PowerEdge R230 add RAID controller

Need advice: the goal is to add Dell PowerEdge RAID Controller H330 server Dell Poweredge R230.

Originally, the data connection is to the motherboard with a mini SAS connector, power cord is related to the Board of Directors itself as well go with a connector 6-pin. Given that the new RAID controller has a different SAS (SFF8644) mini connector, I can't use the original cable.

So try to solve that I bought 4 X SFF-8482 SAS a cable - Mini SAS SFF 8643. It would connect the RAID controller for readers. (THIS)

I also added a power cords: 4 Pin IDE power Molex 1 male to 3 x female Splitter & 2 x 4-pin Molex to 6-pin PCI-E adjust Power Supply Cable (THIS) and (THIS). It was supposed to feed readers - but is not and they won't turn on.

No idea why? Other ideas of ways to solve this problem?

    1. initially, I understood the topology based on the information on the user manual, see the attached figure describing Cabling two 3.5-inch hard drives 'to the PERC card. Isn't this relevant?

The information I had previously provided are based on the wiring of the Controller PERC H330 with basket 4 x 3.5 "which I assumed you had based on your notes. Thanks for your clarification and ignore these P/Ns. Here are the cables you need.

    • Signal and cable LED to P/N 6R7VT the H330 controller to connect to the motherboard
    • Cable SAS junction A H330 for 2 hard drives or optical drives, P/N TTN3V
    • Hard/optical drive power cable from the system board P/N N9P7R for 4 HD (shipped with your server. Use only 2 connectors) or P/N VXR2 for 2 hard drives.

  • RAID controller does not have bootable VD

    Hello

I have a R730 with all the recently updated firmware to the latest versions to try to solve this problem. I need to host a Nvidia K20 (a little old but qualified GPGPU). UEFI turned off so I

I have 2 hard drives in raid mirror (1) and you set write-back and no read ahead (for the purposes of this problem).

I can boot from USB and install CentOS on the virtual disk but the virtual disk does not appear in the menu of bootable devices. If I reactivate UEFI, then the drive appears in the list of bootable devices (but the GPU blocks the system before startup - crash looks like this: http://moufie.blogspot.com/2015/01/technology-system-detected-exception.html )

I have 3 other R730s who have only a single drive and no raid controller. They all work just by turning off UEFI and without further changes.

    Hello

First thing I did was an update of the bios so I'm on 2.2.5 which should be the last.

    2 mirrored drives are 1.8 to 10K RPM SAS 12Gbps 4Kn 2.5 in hard Hot-plug
    Drive.

The GPU does not comes with the system

    The processor is E5-2660 v4

I have now reduced the problem until the disks. I mentioned that I had other R730 nodes that work. These nodes have these discs: 300GB 15K RPM SAS 2.5 Hot plug hard in 12Gbps
Drive, 3.5 in. I took 2 of them on work systems and raided their together in my non-working system and that it resolves. So I think it's the combination of 4 kN size 1.8 to and off UEFI which confuses the bios and prevents the disks appear as bootable.

Now that I start to google by searching for the correct terms I'm going with this:

on page 10, it confirms that 4 kN is only supported using the UEFI.

    Thanks for your time!

I feel that I have seen this problem before, but don't remember the solution.

    Thanks in advance!

Somehow this corrected itself - don't know how but that's what I did before working again. I clicked on tab material, highlight of the modules of controller raid on the image of the speaker and then clicked on the link "View full RAID controller module properties" in the right pane. After that, the options are now available. Don't know what happened there - suspected a communication problem which has re-established itself.

  • PowerEdge 2900 Perc 6 / i internal Raid Controller

OK, so I use a server Dell PowerEdge 2900 with a PERC 6 / i integrated RAID controller

I have configured the RAID array very well, installed Windows 2008 R2 and works fine and dandy

The only problem I encounter is that, when starting the server (Post), I get a message on the cable SAS B are not connected or misconfigured.  The bottom of the basket on my server, which goes to the internal drives, has only a port where I can plug a cable between the Perc 6 / i.  Where is the 2nd wire supposed to go?  I can't find the second port.

    Thank you

PERC connector 0 goes to the bottom of basket. Connector on the PERC 1 connects to the modular Bay. If you don't have the module Bay optional then you ensure that you use the 0 on the PERC and not the connector 1.

  • RAID controller C - 220 M 3

    Hello

People of Cisco told me C - 220M 3 a compulsory bring a RAID inside controller if you are configuring a HARD drive... in fact dynamic Configuration tool will not let me set up a server of C220M3 with a HARD drive if I do not add a RAID controller. I'll try to find a technical explanation for this... I remember correctly, the old C - 200 M 2 can be configured with a HARD drive and without any controller RAID at all, and that is no problem.

    All the entries on that?

    Thank you

    Hi Dani,

You need something on the server to interact with the hard drives and one of the above storage controllers provides an interface for the server (motherboard) interact with hard drives.

  • UCS C22 M3 software RAID LSI problem with hard drive

    Hello

I post here because I searched many hours for a stupid problem.

I have a Cisco UCS C22 M3 with soft RAID LSI MagicRAID.
I have two hard disk of 1 TB.
I create a RAID array with the type 1 (mirror).

When I run the installation of VMware ESXi 5.1 U1 I see the RAID array, but the two discs.
I think that it is a driver problem.
So, I install special with an iso VMware in the VMware Web site for Cisco server.
I have test with ESXi 5.0 and 5.1, and 5.1 U1 but it's the same problem.

I try to remove the RAID array and to install esx on disc one monkey. Installation works well, but in the boot menu, I can't boot from a hard disk. I don't know why I search with UEFI and she is disabled.

I test with windows 2012, and 2008R2 to check if its working but in install I don't see also hard drive or the RAID array.
I go to Cisco and download the driver of the 2G for VMware Linux and Windows.
I try inserting the driver in windows install, but does not.
I think that the driver for a hardware RAID card and software.

I have try to disable the LSI RAID in the advanced bios "SouthBridge". After I disabled I don't know how I can do to start on the hard drive.
When I go to the start menu (F6) I see absolutely nothing in drive.

I test this on two Cisco server.

I can't know what I can do now. I take a working installation tomorrow and nothing.

I join you a photo of the boot sequence LSI.

    Thank you very much.

    Stephane,

For what I understand, you use the RAID controller integrated, therefore, these drivers will not work you:

    -LSI 92xx

    -LSI 106xE

    -LSI 2008 M

    -INS 3081E-R

    -LSI8708EM2

    -LSI 9201< all="" of="" the="" above="" are="" not="" the="" controller="" you="">

    -CISO 1225 x< this="" is="" for="" the="" vic="">

    -CISCO P81E< this="" is="" for="" the="" 1st="" generation="" of="" vic="" cards,="" so="" definitely="" not="" a="" raid="">

Pilots are organized into top level by operating system folders, and each folder of OS has a structured series hierarchically who become more specific subfolders so that you can find the exact drivers you need. When you navigate to a folder containing the drivers, it will contain also one or several README files that explains what are these drivers in particular.

Here is an example of the structure of folder for Windows:

Windows    ChipSet       vendor          blade-model-number             OS-version-number                All                ia64                Lang (contains language subfolders)                Vista                x64

    You need to look for: /< OS > / storage/Intel/C600 /.< if="" you="" are ="" doing="" the="" installation="" of="" the="" os="" through="" the="" kvm,="" you="" first="" need="" to="" un-mount="" the="" os="" .iso="" image="" to="" mount="" the="" drivers,="" once="" the="" drivers="" are="" done,="" un-mount="" the="" drivers="" and="" mount="" again="" the="" os="" .iso="">

If it does not, you better open a TAC case that will allow us to put in place an additional troubleshooting Webex meeting.

  • Cisco C240-M4SX / 12G SAS Embedded Raid Controller Queue depth Reporting resulting in ESXi 6.0

    All,

We have been a customer of vSAN VMware 6.0 for the last 6 months of our environment entirely on servers of Cisco C240 M4SX with the Cisco 12 G SAS integrated Raid Controller.   Everything in the environment was working well until we started to bring in data warehouse loads in the environment and began to notice performance around latency of disk and most important issues still outstanding IO high.  After that ESXtop and ESXCFG examination we found that the length of the queue announced to the adapter ESXi has been only 234 however the VMware HCL Announces 895; 234 is below minimum spec of 256 to correctly implement vSAN.  We have worked diligently with VMware on it to try different versions certified and non certified driver async for this raid controller in addition to the most recent firmware for the raid controller.  Regardless of the change of the depth of the queue remained 234.  The presence of FBWC affect the depth of queue announced to the operating system?  VMware support has indicated that it is clearly a problem "hardware".  Any ideas as to what may be causing this?

    Our environment:

    C240-M4SX

Integrated 12G SAS Raid Controller (operation JBOD / pass-through, not FBWC)

    UCSM 2.2 (6 c)

Driver of VMware for controller: 6.606.06.00 - 1OEM.550.0.0.1331820.x86_64.vib

    VMware vSphere 6.0U1

    Greetings.

Had the chance to spend some time in the laboratory and removed the cache module.

After that, I now get "207", so I would say it's confirmed that 1,2,4 GB cache modules are used to increase the depth/length of the queue for these controllers.

  • OptiPlex 3010 with third-party RAID controller

    Hello

I installed an Adaptec RAID 1220SA controller in an Optiplex 3010 and contains two HARD drives in the annex. It is not all disks connected directly to the motherboard. The RAID card, or readers connected to it are visible in the BIOS, so they cannot be selected as boot devices.

The machine starts OK, past through the initialization of the controller RAID OK, but then it stops with a 'no hard drives detected' attention, giving 3 choices: continue, go to the bios, go to the automatic test utility.

However, if (continued) F1 is pressed, it starts perfectly among the RAID drives and everything works as expected.

Any ideas how to get rid of this error/warning message?

    Hi nehamanoka,

I got the same problem as you, only with an Optiplex 7010 and also an Adaptec 1220SA and a Promise Fasttrak TX 2300 raid controller.
    (press F1 to continue...)

I also tried a lot of things and my 7010, she collaborates with the following parameters of the BIOS (Dell):

General - startup sequence: drive HARD internal
System - integrated NIC configuration: enabled w/PXE

I have no idea why it works now and I had no problem with a 790 Optiplex.

  • Dimension E310 with RAID controller bad hard drive or bad

I have an E310 with DataSafe (two disks Seagate 160 GB in RAID 1).  The other day, the RAID software reported a failed drive.  Left as is one night or more.  The next morning, the machine has rebooted with no hard drive found.  The stop for the rest of the day.  That night that he started Windows, software RAID said two discs have been very well and tried to rebuild the mirror.  Suspended kept Windows and blue screening. From one of the drives and rebooted.  Now running a week on a single disc without any problems.  So, I lucky and pull the bad drive which can't seem to see the software RAID is bad?  Or the software RAID controller might be malfunctioning and having only a drive he will not RAID so no problems?  Don't want to waste money on replacement disks if the controller is the problem.  Would appreciate suggestions on how best to diagnose.

  • replaced RAID controller - new signature or use existing assignment request

    Hello

Recently, I replaced a problematic to find RAID controller that the virtual drives are not mounted automatically by VMWare after a reboot.  I guess it's because when I add data warehouses, I wonder to use the existing disk signature or to assign a new signature.  At the beginning, I chose to use the existing one.  If I chose to create a new signature, this will solve my problem of mounting disks does not automatically?  If so, my BONES existing comments will be tactful or they might have problems?

Resignaturing a data store should not harm the data on this subject. However, after resignaturing you can see all the VMS in the inventory as inaccessible and need to remove the inventory and add their .vmx files in the data store Navigator right click. What you can try is to manually mount persistently store data from the command line to see if that solves the problem without resignaturing (see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1011387).
