Connect Cfeic HBA on Virtual Machine

Goodmorning,

is possible to connect an HBA (Cfeic) to the Virtual Machine?

Thank you

ii00907

Yes, if your hardware supports VMDirectPath and your HBA is supported.

But the HBA will ONLY be used by the virtual machine.

  • Two servers to connect internal using the virtual machine even in a swimming pool?

I was deploying a pilot here VDI environment.  Working with the deployment with the planning guides, most things went smoothly.  However, in practice (and by the guides and information online) I learned that ultimately it works best to have two individual servers to connect internal (not replicated). a dedicated to access internal only, and the other coupled with a security server in the DMZ.

My question is, can a system (physical workstation w / agent or VM) live in a resource pool manual for two managers of internal connections?  What is the best way to manage a scenario in which a worker would use a specific virtual machine during the day (and thus the internal connection manager), verus remotely using this same VM?

Also, when you have a connection to Server 2, should a 2nd database of events created in SQL, or if it can share the same database of events?

    Thank you!

Lol this is not correct. For a mode environment that supports both internal and external users, it is true that you should have one or more servers dedicated to the internal connection and one or more dedicated for external, but they should all work as a replica group. for example, to install the first as a standard instance and others as a replica instance. In this way, users can access the same pools they are internal and external, administration can be performed only once on the entire environment.

Architecture and planning guide is a good reference.

    http://pubs.VMware.com/view-50/topic/com.VMware.ICbase/PDF/view-50-architecture-planning.PDF

In particular, look at the diagram page 61 that shows this. All 4 connection servers are in the same group of replicated, then it will have been installed as a standard and others installed as replicas. Of course, you don't have to have 4 unless you have HA needs, you can have just two and so without balancing the load, but in all these cases, the connection servers share the configuration via the replication data.

    I hope this helps.

  • Can not get the nikon super coolscan 5000 to connect to the XP virtual machine

    Hello

I use VMWare Player version: 2.5.1 build 126130. The guest operating system is windows XP with all the latest updates and SP3. The host operating system is Vista 64. I installed the drivers for the nikon super coolscan 5000 in the virtual machine. When I started the scanner, reader informed me that there was a new device available. When I tried to connect to it, I got the error in a dialog box:

Unable to connect the "Nikon USB Device" USB device to virtual machine (error code 4). Please contact technical support of VMware, Inc. for assistance.

I created the "appliance" XP (I think I use the right term) with VM Workstation 6.5.1 build-126130.

If it works? The reason I want to run a virtual machine is to get XP to run this scanner and a few other old incompatible programs.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello

I have a handful of Shared VMs Im trying to access remotely with VMware Workstation Pro 12 (same version on the client and the host - two Windows 10 machines). I am able to connect to the host that shares virtual machines, I can see all the virtual machines shared, open the virtual machine (as in it opens in a tab within the workstation) and virtually no action on the virtual machine including all power options, instant, change settings, etc.. The problem is that if I turn on a virtual computer (or connect to an existing virtual machine under tension, I get the following error and Im not able to access the actual console since it remains as a black screen.

Unable to connect to the MKS: (name of user and password) Login incorrect.

I also noticed that on the client Windows Event Viewer is to launch the following warning events at the same time that the error in the Workstation has been lifted - Im not seeing any on the host are thrown.

I've seen a lot of posts here with users who run the question and he usually ended up being a network problem. I turned off the Windows Firewall on both machines, checked ports 443 and 902 listening on the host and Im in telnet from the client to the host on port 902. I also saw another suggestion for updating the client Windows hosts file to include [host name] [IP address] and [FQDN of the host name] [ip address], but this subject seems not helped either.

Suggestions in this regard does not happen what keeps or where to find more information about the cause?

  • How to add a physical DVD to be used with a virtual machine?

Add Virtual Machine Hardware Settings > hard drive > use a physical disk (for advanced users)

He is not present to do the same for the addition of a CD/DVD drive. Is it possible to do this to CD/DVD using the .vmx file or another way!

    Hello

Hmm... I see that you are the person who has earlier posted on attempts to seek support for trying to create a virtual machine that is able to recover from broken CD/DVD.

I'm sorry, but personally I don't think that virtual machines are the best match for this.

If you want physical access to a CD/DVD drive then you can try to use an external USB CD/DVD drive and that connect directly to the virtual machine, but I don't think that you can configure a Raw Device Mapping (RDM) for a CD/DVD drive. I could be wrong on that though.

  • How to configure NTP between Virtual Machines without using Vsphere Client

I have a group of 8 virtual servers of 5.5 ESXi without an Internet connection. There are virtual machines on each of these 8 virtual servers.

I did one of these 5.5 virtual ESXi host a NTP server by editing the file /etc/ntp.conf with below configuration and

started the ntpd daemon. He began to take the time to its local clock, here's the output of ntpq Pei

    IP server 10.108.190.14

ip address of the client 10.108.190.15

Then I edited the file /etc/ntp.conf on customers with below configuration but the customer would not synchronize with the server. He

wouldn t get response from the server. Here is the output of ntpq Pei

Now, when I configure NPT Client/Server on virtual machines through the Configuration Option under Option Configuration time

in Vsphere Client everything works fine and the client and the server to synchronize with each other. I checked the file /etc/ntp.conf on both the client

and the server and it has a couple of restrict 127.0.0.1 and restrict the lines added by default kod nomodify etc.

So why NPT Server featured when enabled via Vsphere Client works very well, but it does not work when it is configured manually

    in the virtual servers directly.

I was connected to a vCenter Server Appliance through the VSphere Client and enabled the synchronization of time of the NPT.

I really need to know how to configure the NTP server without using the Vsphere Client so that I can automate the

task by writing a python script that would connect to each virtual server and NTP Client/Server configuration.

Any help in this issue deeply appreciated!

    Thank you!

You can configure the ntp server without using viclient.

  • Access to the network in all virtual machines lost after that put 8.1 to level.

Today, I upgraded my host computer to Windows 64-bit Pro 8.1. I did the upgrade through the Windows store. There are no errors or problems during the upgrade.

However: The host machine equipped with a Qualcomm E2200 network adapter, and it runs the 'Killer' Network Manager software called at startup. After the 8.1 update, when the machine did its last restart, Qualcomm Network Manager opened with a message that the LSP has not mapped correctly. I clicked 'YES' to remap it. Probably a stupid move on my part.

Thereafter, I lost all network connectivity in all my virtual machines. I have virtual machines for Windows 8, Windows 8.1 RTM (not the preview) and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. ALL of them have lost the network.

The host computer has no network problem and works well after the upgrade.

Any ideas or suggestions to reset network connections in virtual machines?

All virtual machines are set to use NAT.

Oh I have to say also that the host computer is running VMware Workstation 10 and everything was fine and dandy, has never had problems at all until this upgrade/LSP remap thing. I have install VMware Tools in the VM of Windows 8.1, with no effect at all.

    Thank you.

    -J

    Two things, I'll try:

    1. go in the virtual network editor and restore settings. The culprit is probably the VMNet to NAT configuration.

    2. If this does not work, it seems that the virtual card for NAT does not somehow. The simplest workaround is to uninstall and reinstall the workstation.

  • Add NT user to the Group Admin Local (virtual machine in a field)

Are there any custom script that we could write to add NT user a local administrator of a virtual computer that is in a domain as well? Any ideas? Thank you.

In what context have you used it? This code example is part of a larger solution, with specific steps...

in fact, the only command that must be executed is the net localgroup... order... the code a little older a workflow where I picked up the text in a reg temp file and then imported the reg file... the reg file create a runOnce registry who was apparently alone running if you connect to the new virtual machine until a first domain administrator - is not ideal... but using ONLY the command net localgroup in there that's what I found to work more consistently.

  • Random virtual machines after vMotion and Storage vMotion network loss

    Hi all -

I have a couple of tickets open with VMware and our supplier of SAN, EqualLogic, on this issue.  Since the configuration of our production and DMZ clusters we noticed that the virtual machines will sometimes drop network connectivity after a successful vMotion and Storage vMotion.  Sometimes, although much less frequently, virtual machines also spontaneously lose network overnight.  What happened only a few times.  The strange thing is that the other guests on the VM host are fine - they lose any network.  Actually, I can do no more than 3 computers virtual host to another, and 2 of 3 can switch correctly, so that we lose the network.  The work around?  Simply 'disconnect' from the virtual NETWORK card 'reconnect' and the virtual machine will start the return packets.  I can also switch the VM troubled return to the host State and it will find the network.  I can it reboot and re - win network.  I can re - install the virtual card completely, and she re - win network.

VMware has seen a lot of mistakes of SAN in our log files in order to update us our SAN firmware to the latest version.  That seems to have fixed that but we still have the issue.  Here are some of the specifications - all environments are virtually identical except for memory:

    Of PowerEdge R810

    NICs Broadcom 5709

    EqualLogic SAN running 5.0.5 F/W

We use frames.  ESXi is fully patched.  I haven't seen a boss or not, it is only some guest operating system that loses the network, but we are a Windows environment.

When a virtual machine loses the network, we can not:

    • Ping to it
    • Ping it
    • Ping him at the virtual machines on the same host or vSwitch
    • Ping outside our network
    • resolve DNS, etc..

I followed some KBs VMware without success, including:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1003839
http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC & externalId = 1002811 (port security is not enabled)

-All the VMware tools have been updated to the latest version correct and corresponds to the ESXi host
-Connected to the service ESXi console, I cannot ping the VM problem by name of host or IP address, but I can ping do not affected by the issue of the OTHER virtual machines.  I can also pings the service console.
-Connected to the troubled virtual machine itself, I cannot ping other virtual machines, I can't resolve host names, I cannot ping by IP.  The machine virtual CAN ping itself by IP, but not hostname.  I cannot ping other virtual computers on the same virtual switch or network by either IP or host name.  I can't ping the vSwitch network management.
-All vSwitches are configured in the same way and the same.
-Notify the switches is set to yes
-There are a lot of available virtual ports
-We tried the E1000 and VMXNET virtual cards with no difference.
-All cards are configured to negotiate, but we tried to force individuals speeds as well as with no difference

I appreciate your help.  I have problems getting anywhere on this issue with the sellers.

    Still having the issue...

Sometimes, it might be useful to really check that all uplinks VMNIC for all VLAN does work them. Try this is to create a new portgroup on the vSwitch used by your virtual machines on the host of the first, put a test VM on the portgroup, then go into the NIC teaming policy from the new portgroup and select "Override switch command failover."

Then down vmnic all except one in unused, then only a single VMNIC is active. Then set the portgroup VLAN to a production of VLAN and try to see if we could ping some expected from the different addresses. If it works, then move VMNIC work until unused and move up to another asset. Try again, and this for all the vmnic. If it works, then you have verified that the configuration of VLANS and other settings are correct on the physical switch in the face of this host ports.

If several VLANs, repeat the process for all other productions VLAN. Then repeat on the other hosts.

While that may take some time, occurs if everything is properly configured on the physical switches. When occurs a vMotion virtual machine gets a new "Port code" and is assigned to a new outgoing VMNIC. If there is an error of configuration on one or more physical ports that might seem random, but may still happen on VLAN x on y VMNIC. Given that Port ID policy you use indeed spread randomly VMs on the vmnic these problems may be difficult to diagnose. (Make a disconnection of the VM vNIC gives the virtual machine a new port-ID, which it will move to a new outgoing VMNIC, which might seem to solve the problem.)

  • Virtual MACHINE on Windows 7 with internet access

    Hello world

I have an iso of Debian Linux to create a virtual machine at this address: http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/dists/squeeze/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/

This image needs to download packages from the internet, but I don't know why I can't have access to the web. I'm in a corporate network with a proxy, but I already tried together the proxy during installation and it still does not work.

I'm using VMWare workstation 6.5, and I wonder if this is a missing configuration on the VMware or Windows 7. I also tried to connect to internet other virtual machines to Linux that I've already created (an older Debian and Ubuntu), but none of them could not access the internet (even if the proxy server).

Could you help me on this?

    Thanks in advance,

Have you tried to bridge?  I seem to have better luck with this setting.

  • Win XP virtual machine can write to an NTFS external drive?

    Hello

I bought VMware Fusion to play a WIN XP on my Mac.

I am aware that a Mac can read but not write to an NTFS external drive.

But can the virtual machine XP write without problem on a NTFS external drive or has the same limitation as the host machine?

    Thank you very much.

    Bar Tomás

An external USB disk can be connected ("attached") to a virtual machine once that the host (OSX) has ejected ("freed from the control of ') same USB. This means that all partitions will be completely controlled ("read/write") by the virtual machine guest operating system.
