.. .connect to a shared folder on a MAC with director 11?

Hi all

I developed a project a few years back that work as follows:

This has been designed to work on Win XP, using Director MX2004

Server installation

All media when installed on a server and the folder that they resided in a was installing as a shared folder.

Workstation installation

A projector has been installed on a PC workstation, as well as the Director of projector, a txt file has installed, the txt file contained the unc path where resided all media files. that is all Director & video file etc.

The projection file could get the unc path, read the text file and open the appropriate dxr file.

It worked very well.

___________________

My question is, now I'm upgrading to Director 11 software, it is necessary to work the same way on MAC OS x. The only difference in the system will be that media files will reside on a MAC server and workstations are MACs (Macs Intel, who use the latest OSX).

How can you connect to a shared folder on a MAC with director 11?

Its not "\\share_name"... 'afp:\\share_name' should work?

I get the cannot find "myfile.dxr" alertbox

I hope that I have explained myself well enough.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Jason

I can't do since Director 11, but you can do with applescript.

In the AppleScript ScriptEditor, paste the following code, and then save it as an application (like "Mount.app") in the same folder as the projector.

Then the Director, to write the volume path and the password

That is to say. AFP://username:password@VolumePath/sharename

in a text file (like "Mount.txt")

Then use the command open the Director to turn up the volume

Open _movie.path & "Mount.txt" with _movie.path & 'Mount.app '.

-applescript below

on open (dittos)

the value volume to readFile (dittos as text)

  if (volume is "") then

return false

end if

VR;

Turn up volume

Return true

  on error

return false

end try

Open end

on readFile (theFileName)

Try

the value theFileRef to (open access file theFileName)

  on error

return ""

  end try

Try

game theText to (read theFileRef)

  on error

game of theText to «»

  end try

Close access theFileRef

Return Letexte

readFile end

  • Files saved to merge "Shared folder ' between host Mac OS and virtual Mac OS not opening not.»

    Hello

If I save a file in the folder "Shared" my host Mac OS machine merging, I can open it only on my host machine, but not inside my virtual machine to Mac OS.  In addition, it shows the incorrect file type in the virtual machine (just 'Document') not the actual file type.

The reverse is also true, if I record a 'Shared' file of Fusion of in my virtual machine, I can open it only on my virtual machine, but not inside the host machine.  Again, it shows the incorrect file type in the real (just "Document") not the file type host machine.

The files must be for the most part very well, because they will open in their own environment of the shared folder, but the Mac OS in the Middle against a reason any won't open them.  Suggestions?

    Thank you

    -Jeff

Solved...  I just need to add 3-digit extensions of file names (for example, .jpg, .psd, etc.) that normally may not be needed in your own environment, but apparently are required when files are in a shared folder.

  • I'm trying to access shared folder of a Mac OS x from a pc windows xp xserve

So, I try to access the shared folders on a Mac OS x Server. This server does not provide authentication or host files, etc. Pretty much use it for networked storage. I was able to connect to the files using Windows 7, but Windows XP computers will not connect. I get a "you might not have permission to this folder" popup box dialog etc.

It is my method of connection. Start-> Run-> \\1.1.1.1-> entry.  I see the files. I double click on the folder to access the folder icon, I get a login dialog box. On the Windows 7 machine, I typed in from my LOCAL COMPUTER username and password. Success! On the XP machine, I do exactly the same thing and the error message.
    Help, please!

  • How many connections to a shared folder is allowed in the different versions of Windows?

I have Windows 2000 with a shared folder to which only up to 10 computers can connect. Is there a way to increase this limit, and if not, is this upper limit in later versions of Windows? Thank you.

This is the limit on all but the server versions.

  • To connect to a shared folder between PC - error Code 0 x 80070035 "network path not found."

I have a client with 8 computers on a workgroup network.

Among youth, 2 computers not talking to each other or to connect to shared folders on the other drive. Both computers will speak on other computers on the network (wireless).

I looked at all the solutions that have been validated for the message Error Code 0 x 80070035 "network path not found." and none of them have solved the problem. I can't ping one computer to another. I noticed that when troubleshooting on the PC (both are desktop windows 7), 'client' that when I ping the other PC it returns an IPV4 (192.168.x.x) address, but when I ping another PC on the network returns an IPV6 address. I tried to turn off IPV6 adapter in the network adapter settings. It made no difference. I searched several 6to4 adapters in Device Manager, but only 1 exists. Turn it off did not seem to make a difference. As I said, both PC's are accessible by other computers on the network (wireless), but they cannot access each other.

Restart both computers several times (including cold starts and stops).

The only one I don't have not tried yet is releasing and renewing the IP address on both.

    Any suggestions?

    Well I fixed it myself.

In this case, there was a number of things I've done.

First of all, I checked to make sure that the firewall is not the issue. It wasn't.

Secondly, I checked the network connection to see if it has been set to the office network. One of them was, and that we have tried to connect to a was created for the Public network. Who changed the network and restarted.

Who has not solved the problem.

Finally, in desperation more than any other thing, I restart the network modem.

Guess what? That fixed the problem.

So, I guess it was a problem of ARP table or some other problem. When I tried to ping from the "client PC' on the shared drive PC, the IP address was 192.168.1.65. When I got the customer go to the drive shared PC and check the IP address it is 192.168.1.69.

Restart the modem and the "client PC" has solved the problem.

  • Increase the limit of maximum number of connections for a shared folder

    Hello

    On Windows 7,.

I recently faced a problem where a folder is able to receive only 20 concurrent connections.

On Google, I came to know that this is the default behavior of windows and it was clarified in the windows "end-user license agreement".

I tried this option to increase the count: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753521.aspx , but this seems useless.

I desperately need this to be increased.

Are there settings or patches to overcome this limitation?

  • Sync Center gets stuck saying "pending sync", never synchronizes the files on the shared folder offline

    Hello

I have a laptop (Compaq 8440) running Windows Vista Enterprise (not yet upgraded to SP1).  I have a shared folder mapped to the N: drive on my laptop.  This shared folder is located on a computer on my home network.  Every day, I move my laptop between my home network (wireless) and my work network (cable intranet).

I scored a subfolder in the shared folder available offline.  It worked for about two weeks, but now when I try to synchronize with the shared folder offline files, Sync Center has constantly "waiting for synchronization" status  He never goes out with synchronization, regardless how long wait.

I tried clicking "stop"button in Sync Center, but this does not prevent the synchronization.  I do not see error messages or the situation in Sync Center.

I tried to restart the laptop, but nothing helped.  I tried to disable/reactivate the wireless connection, but nothing helped.  I can connect to the shared folder and discovers the other directories that are not 'available offline", is not a connectivity problem.

    Thank you
    Jason Fritz

    Hi Jason,

You can try to remove the sync partnership and add it back.  Who can get things working again.  See the following link on how to put an end to partnerships, then in the section above, how to create them.

  • Windows 8.1 access host a shared folder in Ubuntu 14.04 comments

In the host, I exposed a network share folder.

In ubuntu, I can windows network.

By clicking on this generates an error.

Failed to connect to windows shared folder also.

  • Shared folder now asking password?

I have three computers networked over the network to the Microsoft home page. All computers are under XP SP3 and I updated each computer.

One of the computers is my work laptop. I usually "backup" my work files on my main computer on the network, using the "shared folder" of the main computer. For some reason, whenever I try to access the main computers 'shared folder', I now get a request a password. This seems to happen spontaneously that I've never had this problem before.  Everything was worked very well so far.

I don't have the accounts password protected. I tried every password I've ever used, does not. This is * NOT * a problem of 'forgotten' but password Windows XP suddenly asking for a password when I have never posted before.

I can access my "shared folder" computer laptop on the network with other computers without problem. The only problem is trying to access the shared folder on my main computer, which translates the request for a password. The user name is gray, with the name of the main computer in the username followed by a slash "/ guest" and then a password box to enter.

I checked simple file sharing and have never changed this setting. I have run and rerun the wizard network on all computers without success. I tried assigning passwords and use them, without success.

An index is on the computer I am currently viewing, I used to have two accounts of users (in addition to the hidden Admin account). One of these accounts has BEEN password protected, but NOT all files were used in this account. Recently, I deleted this account that I no longer use it. In other words, the deleted account was in any way related with the "shared folder" that I use with the other account, the only one on the computer now.

The account that I use for the "shared folder" does not have a password, but even if I assign one, it won't let me access the shared folder on any other computer. This user account has administrator privileges.

I have also enabled and disabled the "guest" account, without any help.

I am at a loss to understand why Windows asking you now this password. I saw one couple of other similar questions raised but not solutions.

    Any ideas?

    .......... Bob

PS: If I access the computers 'discovers the Working Group"I have no problem accessing the"printers and faxes"on the main computer of the notebook. However, I cannot access the file 'sharedocs '? Something specific happened to the file "sharedDocs" on the main computer.
