Connect two VMs via the connection to the local network using VMWare Player
So this topic can be posted already, but I'm at the end of the roll, trying to find a solution. I have VMWare player installed 3.1.4 on an enterprise_x64 of Windows 7 system. I configured two virtual machines: OS1 comments: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5.5_x64 and OS2 comments: WIndows 7 Ultimate_x64. I need the Linux server to act as a database server in the system environment, that I am creating. The Windows 7 VM will be the client PC. The Linux server is configured to be it's own DHCP server, so ideally the client PC connects to the field of tht and also follow the Linux server IP address.
I tried all the options of networkign for each virtual computer, but no sem to create this type of connectivity. How to configure the network settings in VMWare Player to make two virtual computers can communicate with each other via a virtual network? (Communication with the host pc is not necessary)
The short answer is to manually install the lack vmnetcfg.exe, Editor of virtual networkand configure VMnet2 without DHCP and host vNIC and then configure manually each virtual machine network adapter to use Custom VMnet2.
The longer answer has already been given so many times that you should be able to find detailed directions, however...
To install the lack vmnetcfg.exe, virtual network editor, run VMware-player-* .exe-e c:\vmptmp go to a command line and then in the c:\vmptmp folder, locate the file c:\vmptmp\network.cab and extract (double-click on the .cab file) vmnetcfg.exe (virtual network editor) file in the working directory of VMware Player usually ' C:\Program Files\VMware/VMware Player ' you can create a shortcut to it and place it with the shortcut of VMware Player if you want to access more easily to her. This utility is not installed by default is however necessary to turn off the automatic bypass on VMnet0 if the system is multihomed and two or more physical host from the NETWORK adapter is active or you want change VMnet1 and VMnet8 subnet addresses or additional VMnets.
The you must manually change the configuration of each virtual machine's .vmx file in Notepad, change an existing parameter and add another.
Change:
ethernet0.connectionType = "nat"
TO:
ethernet0.connectionType = "custom"
Add:
ethernet0.vnet = "VMnet2"
Note: Regardless of connectionType ethernet (n) shows it should be changed to "custom".
Be sure also to Machine virtual are stop, not suspended and VMware Player is closed when you edit the .vmx config files.
Here are some pictures to show.
Here in the VMnet2 virtual network Editor is selected and is how it should be if you what to use your own DHCP server and the host does not have a vNIC. You can change the IP address as a result of your needs.
Here's the value VM card network NAT settings.
This is what network settings Virtual Machine map will look like after you change the configuration of the Virtual Machine's .vmx file to use Custom VMnet2.
BTW if you replace the Machine network card virtual settings through the user interface customized by something else then you will need to manually edit the .vmx config file to retrieve. With VMware Workstation, you do not need to manually install the virtual network editor and should not manually edit the .vmx config file as the custom list box is still present and shows all VMnets to select from.

Computer cannot connect to the printer via the local network
I have two computers sharing a printer, the printer is connected with USB is Vista Home Premium 32-bit. The other which must be connected wireless is old computer Windows 7 Home Premium. My, I suppose his ultimate, I'm not sure tho, that works fine with the printer. This Home Premium one just can not connect to the printer. It keeps saying can't find a print reader, I downloaded a universal driver HP that I learned other positions, and he said that it was not a correct driver.
I asked our technical support to help me. And he told me that Home Premium has this problem. The only way I can solve this is to update my system at least pro. I checked online but I have not seen someone talked about this. Just make sure that is it true? If not, what can do now?Thank you very much.Hello
-What is the brand and model of the printer?
This isn't a problem with different versions of Windows support network printer.
I suggest you go through the following links and check if it helps.

Satellite L500 - no possibility to connect to the local network
Hello
I'm new to these forums so please accept my apologies if I don't use the terminology correct tech.
I have a Toshiba L500 laptop satellite. It of ok, but had to make the hard drive replaced recently (under warranty) as she died. I had been using a wireless network before I had to have the drive replaced and now trying to connect to a local network using a cable, but there is no device?
Now, I don't know when this became a question - before or after replacing the hard drive. Not only has he failed to drive hard, but has so the speakers, so I wonder if the LAN device is just another thing that has failed.
I understand that there are two components to the unit - the hardware and software. I learned that the material may have failed.
Does anyone know how to get back the unit so that I can plug my computer on a local network and internet access? No, the device isn't in the network adapters. I don't know how to get it back.
> I have the replaced disk and now I'm trying to connect to a local network using a cable, but there is no device?
Have you tried reinstalling the driver LAN?Remember that the network driver is installed correctly you should check this in the device-> network cards Manager.
In this category the LAN card and wireless network card required! If you're going to see some yellow exclamation points, so this means that a driver is missing or is not working properly and this means that you must remove/uninstall the driver, and after new restarts, the driver needs to be installed once more
Please check this!

Hello
Reading between the lines a bit here, it is my understanding...
- Never use Ethernet, probably because you don't have broadband for some reason any?
- Due to the size of the download, you asked someone else to do it with no broadband?
- As a result, which is two screens with a red X icon, but never used to be there?
This icon with the red X is only informative. If you do not use Ethernet then you won't have connected cable, which means that the information you see on "network cable is unplugged" is correct. If you don't like this icon, you can hide...
- Right-click on an empty part of the taskbar, and then click Properties
- Click the Notification area
- You will see a check box for the network, there uncheck and then click OK to hide the icon
- Reverse this process, if you want to display the icon
Or is your problem you can connect is no longer with dial upward? If this is the case...
- Click Start, type inetcpl.cpl and press enter
- Click the Connections tab
- 'Never make a connection' values? If this is the case, always select "default connection" (or "Number using whenever a network connection is not present")
- Click OK

I have managed to get rid of all of its 251 infections and I am now addressing the connectivity problem. I'm unable to achieve on its ethernet or a wireless connection to Internet. The two network status of connections 'Unidentified network', and also ' access: Local only ' all other machines hooked up to my router via CAT5e and some via 802.11 g/n, have excellent speeds with internet connectivity, so I know that the problem is limited to his machine. Re: Satellite Pro A40 - connection to the local network
Hello
My names Andy and not bieng a total beginner computer, I tried to install all the drivers for my laptop model a SPA40 old fathers PSA45E-001VM-EN. (European model I think) everything looks ok, except that I can't get the ETHERNET driver.
When I go into the Device Manager there is NO controller network displayed in the list and there is a yellow exclamation mark against two controllers ethernet ib the OTHER DEVICES tab looking here, I downloaded the atheros wlan xp file - 7704062.zip, broadcom wlan xp - installed 5604835.ziplan20070912134727.zip and nothing changes, we used to be able to go on the net and with the wifi card in the pci slot wireless go so I know its capable I think it's just the order of drivers and the drivers themselves,
Then someone can point me in the right direction before as I have send myself crazy with this...
You can
regards and thanks in advance
Andy
Hey,.
The drivers that you downloaded are WLAN Card and has nothing to do with the connection to the local network (Ethernet) normal
I think you should check the Web from Toshiba site to download the latest LAN driver. You can find the drivers for Satellite Pro A40 in * archives *.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8600, connected to the local network but cannot print printer on the same local network.
Work tried fixing it but all attempts fail.
Firewall disabled.
Printer recognizes the router's LAN.
Was also pointed out that the port does not communicate, can not remove it; Cannot add another...
Printer does not print.
How can I fix?
Hi @AnnisMonadjem,
Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!
I understand that you are unable to print to your printer HP Officejet Pro 8600. I'd be happy to help you and don't forget to come back to this thread and check "Accept as Solution", if I have successfully helped solve you the problem. If you want to say 'Thank you' to my effort to help, click on the "thumbs up" to give me a Kudos.
When you say 'LAN', are you referring to the network or you try to share the printer on the network?
How is the printer connected? (Ethernet/WiFi)
If you have noticed that the port is causing problems, please download and run the print and Scan doctor, it will be probably diagnose and fix the problem you are experiencing.
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (she print or scan, error messages)
HP has several Officejet Pro 8600 series.
What is the name and the product number of your printer? How can I find my model number or product number?
- Update the firmware of the printer.
- Don't hide the SSID (network name).
- What type of encryption are you helping? HP recommends WPA and WPA2.
- You have a double router broadband? Make sure that the two groups were not the same network name.
If the problem persists, you may encounter an IP address conflict. It's a good idea to assign the printer a static IP address outside your DHCP range. For example, some routers default DHCP is located between 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.200. So, I would use 192.168.0.232.
To assign the static IP address, use the following steps as a guide.
- Print a Page of Network Configuration menu of the printer front panel. Note the IP printer. IPV4 address
- Type the IP address in the browser to bring up the SAP.
- Choose the network tab, then wireless on the left side, and then select the IPv4 tab.
- Select Manual IP.
- Enter your IP address manual (192.168.0.232)
- Enter 255.255.255.0 for the subnet mask, except if it is different.
- Enter the IP address of your router that sits on the Network Configuration Page) for the default gateway.
- Please, click on manual DNS server. For the preferred DNS Server Manual please enter 8.8.8.8 and the Alternate DNS Server Manual, please enter 8.8.4.4.
- Click on apply.
- Restart the router, the printer and the computer.
- Test printing and scanning.
If the problem persists, download and run this patch rollup: resolving printing issues in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2
- Try printing and scanning.
In addition, if you are still having problems try the steps in this guide, HP printers - "offline" Status Message printer (Windows 7).
Continue on, if the problem persists.
Important! Delete the temporary files and folders by using the disk cleanup utility
- Open the disk cleanup utility:

I tried to fill the connection between my laptop Wi - Fi and an ethernet cable LAN via the connection to the Local network for my xbox 360. However, when the connections passed the wireless connection would show that it is disconnected and would not reconnect. When I tried to repeat the process sometimes the same thing happens sometimes it says that it is still connected.
However, be that as it may, both times I could not load any page of the website from my laptop and xbox connect any.
How can I create a network bridge and get the wireless internet to connect please?Any help to fix this would be appreciated,
PThis Microsoft Knowledge Base article might help: bridge may not work with a Non-Promiscuous Mode network card .
If not, I recommend to delete the network bridge and enable sharing of Internet connection on the wireless network connection. Boulder computer Maven

Captures we can see packets going from the pool to the internal LAN, but we do not reply back packages.
The routing must be such that for 172.16.10.0/24 packages should reach the inside interface of the ASA.
On client machines or your internal LAN switch, you need to add route for 172.16.10.0/24 pointing to the inside interface of the ASA.

I can connect to the local network, but not to the internet
Why in an internet connection, I can connect to the Local network, but not to the Internet.
I have valid IP address and configuration is good.I recommend you read some threads here in the forum about similar issues.
If this problem occurs using the WiFi network, then check if you can use the connection to the local network.
Using the WiFi network, you must check if the common WLan parameters are favourable;
Check if the encryption key is right; turn off filtering by mac address, check the TCP/IP protocol settings if it has been set to automatic, disable the firewall settings, rest you WLan router, check if you connected to the right SSID.Good bye
