Connection string database MS using ASP VBScript and DW8

Hello

My MS database has worked with DW8 following my use of a connection string in connSci * .asp. My OS is Windows7. It worked well.

<%
' FileName="Connection_ado_conn_string.htm"
' Type="ADO"
' DesigntimeType="ADO"
' HTTP="true"
' Catalog=""
' Schema=""
Dim MM_connSciWeb_STRING
MM_connSciWeb_STRING = "DSN=DSN_******"
%>

Now when I update the db and check that additional new records have been added (and they were) I can access than the original documents. When I test the connection string again, I get the 404 error message.

Can anyone help?

Concerning

Kevin

Is the logbook of your question that provided brégent correct? Please clarify that for us. Connection problems are not uncommon. but they are fixable.the first thing that I think that you have to solve is the error when you test the connection in DW. If you did not change anything in the login script, then it means that something has changed on the server with the DSN or DB file itself, as booth said. Re-check all the files from the server and DB DSN situation with the path to the DB. You can try to delete the DSN and re-create. I also suggest to try a connection without DSN. These were commonly with Access databases for many years, so you should easily be able to find the instructions a quick Google search. .

  • Question about the database to use with ESX and Labmanager

    Hello

Finally my company is buying a permit for Labmanager and ESX server using Labmanager to our tests.

We had a question about the database that we use for the actual installation.

Could we use MY - SQL? Or that we have the olbigation to install a SQL or Oracle DB for the whole system to work?

We prefer to use MY_SQL because it is open-source and will cost less to use for us.

Thanks in advance for the answer and please excuse my bad English, I'm french spoke first.

Lab Manager installs SQL Express as part of the installation and use. If you install also Virtual Center as part of your deployment of Lab Manager (do not use an existing VC server), you can use the database SQL Express is included for small installations of ESX, but MY SQL is not an option. You can search the databases supported in the installation guide for what version you deploy.

  • Data type of text is not displayed using SQL Server and ASP/VBScript

Maybe someone help me with this because I used to use PHP/MySQL, but I use for this a Classic ASP/VBScript and MS SQL Server instance and I don't know that much. The scenario is I have an old site that was designed using html tables and I do a CSS/XHTML update on Visual design. As long as we are here, there are some pages that are dynamic and use a MS Access database and we thought it's a good time to upgrade from MS SQL Server (2005, to be exact). No time/money for bringing classic ASP VBScript in ASP .NET.

Overall, the upgrade went fairly well, especially just to create a new connection to the DB in SQL Server in Dreamweaver after all the tables and data were migrated to SQL Server. Almost everything works as it should. A problem though.

For some reason, the data of the data type 'text' in SQL Server is not appear (or sometimes appear). I even tried to recreate the recordsets and binds fresh data and the code is more or less identical to what we had before. Anyone know what's happening, or how I can get this data to show?

I think that there is perhaps some simple and double quotes in the text data and which could be screwing things up. I was hoping there is only a simple function that I could apply the code, but as I said, I don't know.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Your text field should be the last of your select statement, as
its not stored in the table with the other data, its stored elsewhere,
as a binary object, should be treated differently. Its common
the migration of the access problem.

If you need more of 8000 characters stick with him, otherwise use
varchar (8000) or nvarchar (4000) If you need (limited unicode characters
4,000 cos of the double byte characters)

  • Connection to database using an ASP Javascript page

I use the trial version of the CS6 cloud. Open an ASP Javascript page then wants to connect to my database. The only thing that appears is a spry connection. If I open an ASP VBscript page, the connection is available. I have CS3 and wanted to update, but in this respect is not in CS6 for an ASP Javascript page?

While the definition of site offers a choice of ASP JS, ASP VBScript is the only version of ASP that DW CS5 + supports for the automatic generation of code through server behaviors & recordsets. So, I guess you're out of luck.

ASP.NET & JSP behaviors have been deprecated in DW CS4. ASP JS behaviors have been deprecated in DW CS5.

I would like to connect with the database instead of "writing" all the tables in the bearings inside the Jquery page

This is usually done with a CMS (content management system). There are commercial products CMS like WordPress, Joomla and perch. You create one or several layouts and then create pages of these page layouts using the CMS. In this way, it is possible to have hundreds of pages, each with unique content, but a page layout that can be managed in a place of sharing.

CMSs on shelf don't require programming skills. Otherwise, some of us write our own CMS with custom functions, but this requires back-end, as with PHP programming.

  • ASP connection string problems

    Hello

I have inherited a website and need to make some urgent changes, currently all recordsets is handcoded and is in an absolute mess, I migrated to SQL server to allow me to create new recordsets through DWMX, but the site is far from ready to move to the new DB and I am unable to connect to the DB access.

The database is a db access with a security.mdw file that controls access how can I make changes to my connection string to connect? I have included my latest effort below.

    Dim MM_conTest_STRING
    MM_conTest_STRING. Mode = adModeReadWrite

  • Database window: 'add a connection' (plus sign) gray - site ASP

    Hello

I am trying to connect to an Access 2007 accdb file by using an ASP site in Dreamweaver CS5 on Windows 7 Home Premium OS (processor quad Intel i7 6 GB of RAM).  The plus sign in the database window is gray, without error message or explanation about the program.

All the steps below "to use dynamic data on this page" have checkboxes next to them.  [1. create a site for this file.]  2. choose a document type.  3 configure the server to test site]

I use Dreamweaver CS5 on Windows 7 Home Premium.  I am trying to connect to an Access 2007 accdb file.  I searched the internet far for some clues, but all the world assumes that the sign '+' is active and not greyed out.

    I created an ASP.

    View local: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Website\

    Remote server / test: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\

I tried to put the Access 2007 database these two places.

I tried several variations where to put the local site, the remote server, and the test server on my computer and nothing seems to make any difference.

I would fix a screen showing the sign more dimmed, but Adobe has temporarily disabled the file uploads b/c of some security concerns.

I will be forever in your debt if you can solve this conundrum!

    Thank you

ASP VBScript has not been deprecated in Dreamweaver CS5. It is still supported.

ASP.NET and ASP JavaScript are no longer supported. They appear in the Server templates to allow developers to continue to work with sites created in previous versions of Dreamweaver.

I'm not sure if Dreamweaver supports databases created in Access 2007. You may need to convert to use an .mdb file name extension. Also, see if the following help page: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/setup_asp_04.html.

If this is your first foray into the development of dynamic websites, I feel obliged to say that the ASP is a very bad choice. Microsoft has stopped the ASP development about 10 years ago and is now all efforts for ASP.NET. Although many people still use with ASP, it is a dying technology. If you want to create dynamic Web sites in Dreamweaver, you'd be better off using PHP or ColdFusion.

  • Security and connection string

    Hello

I am a new developer using ColdFusion.

ColdFusion supports Windows authentication, or I must have my connection in plain text string in my cfm files?

I have the connection string in my form, alone or in a configuration file?

Is it possible to encryption of my password and username in the cfm file?

Your information and your help is much appreciated,

    Kind regards

    iccsi,

It's a broad question.  You referring to connections to data sources, or recognizing the user for connections of site IDs?  If the first case, you can configure connections to database (with some reservations) in the CF Administrator secure and never have to pass the credentials directly in your CFML code.  In regards to the user for the connection ID, if you configure your webserver (IIS) to use Windows via NTLM authentication, Coldfusion will receive the Windows login and make accessible to you through CGI variables.

  • Unable to connect to the local database (without using the tnsname)

    Hi guys
I have 2 database running on the local computer.

    Db1 SID - orcl (install 1)
DB2 SID - unicode (later installation)

Today I stop the basic unicode and stop its respective services.

    on the back
    I did a sqlplus scott/tiger, I got an error
    ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

    That's why
    I did a
    Set ORACLE_SID = orcl

and I still get the same error.
    -------------------------------------------------

So I'm the other way around. I orcl database stop, stop its services and database unicode to START and its services.

I disassembled the ORACLE_SID environment variable.

Now, I have in the command prompt
    sqlplus scott/tiger

I am connected to the unicode database!
    -------------------------------------------------

Now I ORCL stop unicode data and start...

    and I have a
    sqlplus scott/tiger@ORCL...

I HAVE no problem to connect to it...
    --------------------------------------------------

May I ask why should I provide the TNSname ORCL database and I do not for the UNICODE of the databases...
Both are local on my database.

    What's wrong?

    Moreover, I am on XP.
    Thank you!

    Set ORACLE_SID = orcl
    sqlplus / as sysdba;
    sys@ORCL > exit

    Set ORACLE_SID = unicode
    sqlplus / as sysdba;
    sys@Unicode > exit

Well, we know that both your DBs are working properly.

So out of curiosity, I did cela tests...
    (1) connect the two database and stop
    (2) stop their services
    (3) start only ORCL service
    (4) close and reopen the command prompt to delete the var of environment ORACLE_SID

    sqlplus / as sysdba;
Error: ORA-12560: TNS: Protocol adapter error

    (5) now I stop service ORCL
    (6) (and I start the service of UNICODE)

    then I deliver

    sqlplus / as sysdba;
    sys@Unicode >

It seems quite normal. In your registry value ORACLE_SID is, most likely, unicode, the last created: check it out, and if so, you can connect to unicode DB without setting ORACLE_SID, while you will need to set to connect to DB orcl.

When you have more than one DB, you set the ORACLE_SID environment variable before connecting either you use connection strings.

  • Insertion and extraction of data from a database by USING SQL Developer al32UTF8

    Hi guys,.

Before I post my questions, I think it's better for me to give you guys my first understandings so that it is easier to understand where / if I have gone wrong...

I use Windows XP and Oracle 10 g
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Non-unicode client - a client program that needs to use the code page of the operating system for the mapping of unicode data retrieved from the database as well as the support to display/insert characters from the code page to the database.
    For example sqlplusw.exe

Therefore, when you use a non-unicode client

    (1) we define the code page of the OS (Control Panel - regional and language of the parameter - advance - the language for non-unicode programs) to the code page that contain the characters that we will view/insert.

    (2) we also defined the NLS_LANG characterset on the character set of code page, that we'll insert so that when we do an insert (for example in thai), oracle will and automatic conversion to Unicode can take place. This is also true when recover us the database unicode data so that the correct character set conversion can take place.

    INSERTION OF
    THAI->-> UNICODE conversion

    RECOVERY OF
    THAI <-conversion <-UNICODE

I hope that my basic understanding is correct up to this point.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unicode client - a client program that supports display/inserting unicode characters without the need to set the code page of the operating system (Control Panel - regional and language setting - control - language for non-unicode programs advance)
For example isqlplus http or SQL Developer

    However,.

    (1) there are still set the NLS_LANG so that the correct conversion can take place between the client and the database.
For example, when the recovery if we set NLS_LANG value ZHS16GBK (Chinese) character and store data in Unicode in the database is for example (THAI), then the conversion would be a mistake.
It's a supported unicode client, then the NLS_LANG character set should be set to UNICODE as well.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Those are my questions
    * Important - please help if you're busy and don't have the time to answer the remaining questions

(* Q1) if I had to use a unicode client, what should I put my character NLS_LANG set?
    AMERICAN_AMERICA. UTF8?

(* T2) where can I put the NLS_LANG information of character in SQL Developer, I know there is a metalink for setting NLS_LANG using isqlplus but I cant seem to google each led for SQL developer.

Q3) is my basic understanding of up to this point? If no, please explain in a term more widespread that I'm really not familiar with character sets code page, unicode and fonts, glyphs...

A unicode client (Q4) didn't need to refer to the OS codepage (regional and language updates), y at - it a code page UNICODE for the customer to refer to, or is there an available window API?

    Q5)
, there are still set the NLS_LANG so that the correct conversion can take place between the customer and the > > database.
For example, when recovery if we set NLS_LANG value ZHS16GBK (Chinese) character and the data store in > > unicode in the database is for example (THAI), then the conversion would be erroneous.
I'm just on this point for customer UNICODE supported?
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for spending the time to read my questions and I hope to hear soon tips from you guys.
    Million thanks again for sharing.

    Best regards
    Noob, but eager to learn

The requirement to always set NLS_LANG is not true for JDBC, which ignores the NLS_LANG altogether. Java programs extract the textual data in string variables, which uses Unicode UTF-16 by design. JDBC defines the conversion of character sets so that data is converted between UTF - 16 and the database or the national character set.

The obligation to set NLS_LANG is not generally true for the OIC, either. The first call to a problem of the BEAK may be OCIEnvNlsCreate(). This call has two parameters that allow the caller to set the character set to use for the text of VARCHAR2/TANK/LONG/CLOB/statement and the character set to be used for NCHAR/NVARCHAR2/NCLOB. Only if these character sets is specified as 0, character set NLS_LANG is used. Also, the OIC programs can specify different character for each binding sets or set the variable (i.e. the buffer input/output). Note: The OIC programs always use NLS_LANG to initialize the language settings and the territory for the client program and the database session. Only the character set can be specified is OCIEnvNlsCreate().

OCIEnvNlsCreate() can specify the client character set to UTF-16 (platform boutien) format. This is not possible with NLS_LANG.

Various interfaces based on the BEAK, such as ODBC Oracle and .NET for the ODP, explicitly initialize OCI with character set Unicode and therefore ignore the NLS_LANG character set as well.

    Thnx,
    Sergiusz
