  I have a requirement where few reports coming from databases and a few others to another database. I created two pools of connections and added the frame connection details. But when I created the report I get error as below.

  State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error occurred. [nQSError: 43113] The message returned by OBIS.   Now, I would like to see if I can create a pool of connections to two different databases. If so, how that happen.

  Hi Antonio,.

  Cross database joins are possible, no problem for it. But you do not do so in an object of unique data base in the physical layer using 2 pools of connections connection to the source A and B, then adding objects to A and B children of your unique database.

  You create 2 databases in the physical layer, each with its own connection pool, then you can do your knuckles crossed on the physical schema.

  As a picture is worth a thousand words, take a look:

  

  The physical diagram uses objects of A and B and define the rules of the join between them, it is a cross-database join. But in the physical layer of the database A and B are 2 separate objects each with its own pool of connections.

  When I give the start-up of an existing database, it gives me this error I have never come across please help...

  I'll try using RMAN and I made the following changes in my database: -.

  Thanks guys, unfortunately I have not found a SQL function that return the number of directly connected user. This is possible only on SQL Server.

  What I have is this: I created two fields in my database: a 'DB_is_used' flag and a "Username" field, and each user how want to use the database, should check these fields if it is empty, it inserts the name of its PC and use the database. Or, if the field is not empty, it will see a popup message displays the user name 'book' this database and the hedisconnect of him immediately.

  It works for me and I am satisfied.

• Connect to the Oracle database fails when you use Microsoft ODBC or OLE DB Driver

  There was a problem when you apply the KB3126587 hotfix where connections to an Oracle database using the Microsoft ODBC driver fails if run from automated processes. Running the same process manually would succeed. The update issued KB3147071 solved the problem successfully.

  Yesterday, several patched have been applied and the problem came back. The patches are: KB2862152, KB2868626, KB3163244, KB3168965, KB3170455, KB3163251.

  I saw yet no acknowledgement or difficulty of Microsoft. I prefer not to uninstall security patches, but it is a problem of production.

  Any ideas what specific patch maybe breaking it again?

  I have the software on my machine (written in-house by a company I work for) to connect to a remote database from home. I have connected several times without problem, but recently I immediately get an error message as follows: "Access violation at address...". ' followed by the hexadecimal address number, when I click on the "connect" button after entering the login information. The only thing I can think of that is different is that I have changed recently, is my anti-virus software.   the application directory is read-only. App-storage is read/write. If you have an existing database file that was installed in the application directory, you must copy it into the directory app-storage. Also, keep in mind that, if the application is uninstalled, all this information is also deleted. If you want to keep the user database file in the case where they re - install the app, you can copy/create the file in the document directory.

  Problem solved! A colleague of mine referred to in this post: import def properties from Oracle Designer

  More in detail: it's this couple of lines:

  Copy the file ojdbc6.jar for... Directory of \datamodeler-home\jlib

  Add this line to datamodeler.conf

  AddJavaLibFile... /... /jlib/ojdbc6.jar

  I changed my file datamodeler.conf, DM rebooted and now is no longer an error when I try to use the Oracle JDBC drive.

  Given that you seem to be running from netbeans, you would better add the jar to the project libraries...

  And NO, you should NEVER put anything in your system classpath. It's a very bad habit, led to the equivalent of Java of the DLL hell and of course from the moment that you distribute the application to any other machine that's going to fail again.

  Add it instead of the specific CLASSPATH of the application.

  And do not put anything on the class path that has spaces in the name, it is no longer can cause problems, but don't count on that it works.
