• Two questions with new Inspiron 3847

  Hello all,.

  I saw some problems with our new 3847 Inspiron that I hope someone learned more I can offer some tips on. I bought the PC at Costco and it came with a keyboard and a mouse, I use the included keyboard and mouse Logitech Trackball existing.  Here are the questions:

  (1) the PC does not wake up mode 'sleep', when I select a key on the keyboard or click the mouse (I must have done something right that appears not to be a problem now!).

  (2) when the monitor goes into sleep mode it appears that the PC is cutting the video signal to the screen but the screen is not extinguished, it displays a message 'no video Signal, check the cables.

  On our old Dell, under Win XP PC, the monitor would switch to sleep mode and wake up with a combination of keys (he has been connected with a vga cable while I use a hdmi on the new PC).  I checked all the settings and they seem to be well positioned and I have read the forums without success.

  Always include the version of Windows in your messages.

  Restart and immediately , press F2 to open the BIOS Setup. Looking for a Wake-up USB option (or something similar). This parameter must be set to "Enabled". Save changes before exiting the installer.

  Depending on the version of Windows, you may need to adjust the power options in Windows to turn off the monitor after X minutes.

  I gave my daughter a tower Inspiron 3847 for Christmas with a monitor of U2713H renovated so that it could alter the photos. She struggles to find ways to connect the two devices with the cable supplied with the monitor.

  Does anyone know how to properly connect this monitor to this tower?

  If it is absolutely sure, this isn't HDMI and DisplayPort.

  I only have a DisplayPort and VGA on my Dell 3020, but my monitor's HDMI and VGA.

• New Dell Inspiron 3847 could not install

  Yesterday, I bought a Dell Inspiron 3847 desk top. After that I turned on the computer received a message for location of audit United States of setting up normal, English and I choose Pacific Time and next pressed. I received the message on blue screen "we set up your computer, this may take some time." Then after a few minutes, the computer screen went blue screen to flicker multi colors. I had no choice but to turn the computer off, wait and when I turned the computer back on, I got the message - your account has been disabled and then message defaultuser 0, with message insert key disk to reset. Which of course I did not.

  That's happened?

  I got to Best Buy and they do not know the problem. Also better to buy La Quinta CA gave me a very hard time and accused me of put a virus on the computer. Really, I said I just plug it in and turned on the computer.

  Please notify. I have nothing else, and no information has been placed on the computer.

  You will need to go back to Best buy and talk to a Manager. Your office had a hardware failure or operating system.

  I just bought an Inspiron 3847 Friday. What I did is to make updates, install firefox, installed a game and when I wake up today to turn it on it lights. I disconnected the electrical surge protecter, plugged in the wall and still nothing. I was looking online for 2 hours on what to do and im a loss. I have to go back to the store, or is there something else to do for this problem? Thanks for any help

• Inspiron 3847, no audio, Windows 8.1

  The computer is new, came with Windows 8.1, but has no sound because it was out of the box.

  I reinstalled the Realtek sound card drivers, but there is no sound. The CPU connects to the monitor Dell 24 - S2440L monitor via a VGA cable.

  Check in the sounds option in Control Panel of speakers shows are necessary.  In my view, there is a message in his icon in the lower right that no speakers or headphones are connected.

  Dell support think if I change the OS to Windows 7, I can get sound, but I have to buy the Windows 7 operating system

  I was thinking more PC today come with an integrated sound card and external speakers are additional.

  What could be the cause of the lack of audio? The volume is not set to mute.

  I went to REALTEK website and downloaded a new driver yesterday.

  Bought there are a little over 2 months of Best Buy. Geek Squad blew the dust out and messages stopped for a week. Geek Squad will charge me $100 to run diagnostics on it and told me it will cost me a lot to go to Dell to help them. Ran the Dell Diagnostics on it hardware and it says that everything is working. The fans are running. What should I do?

  Verify that the processor and chassis fans are working and connected to the motherboard and they are clean of any accumulation of dust upward, also check that the fins of the heatsink to the CPU are also clean.

  Check that the air inlets located behind the front panel are also clean of dust and dirt.

• Inspiron 3847 Office HDMI not wake up monitor

  Just bought a desktop computer Inspiron 3847 with integrated graphics to assess if we bring to our society.  Connected to an ASUS HDMI monitor and have no video.  Could not understand what was going on so connected via VGA instead and it worked as expected.  Ultimately determined that the Inspiron does not send a signal of alarm for the monitor.  Tried the monitor on a different model computer and it worked correctly.  Tried another cable with the monitor and the Inspiron HDMI but no change.  So, it means using a HDMI on the Inspiron 3847 monitor to turn on the monitor after starting the computer for it to connect via HDMI.  Checked to see if there was a BIOS update, but I have the version 2, which was recently published.  Any suggestions on how to make the Inspiron wake up the monitor when the system is powered or exit the mode 'sleep'?

  I had the same problem, but fortunately got better help Dell Cathaleen did.  I just bought an Inspiron 3847 of Dell desktop computer and also bought a new monitor ASUS from amazon.  Worked well with the VGA cable, but did not work with the HDMI cable.  The solution is simple, just do it once and you'll be ready to go. Basically, you need turn on the input screen while it is on the VGA HDMI cable. Then remove the VGA cable and install the HDMI cable.  Here's how: 1. hang your desktop on the screen with the VGA cable. 2. press "menu" on the monitor ASUS Punch.  3 scroll to 'Input Select' with the 'Down' button on the screen (just to the left of the menu button). 4 drill the menu button to switch to the list of the 5 cables.  Scroll down to select HDMI. 5. remove the VGA cable and install the HDMI cable.

  I have an Inspiron 3847. I bought a package of dual monitor recently from Dell, but discovered upon arrival that I'll need a DisplayPort interface to connect on my Inspiron doesn't have.   Dell has not released the procedures to install an additional SATA hard drive, the Inspiron 3847 has a 3.5 Bay ", one for the second hard drive next to the main hard drive, there should be a set of rails located in the Bay, two 6-32 X 1/4, Phillips head screws are required to secure the Rails.

  Procedures on pages 26 to 28 of the owners manual should give you an idea of what is required for installation.

  You will need a SATA data cable, there should be a spare connector to SATA power inside the housing.

  After you have installed the drive, enter the system setup and make sure the hard drive is "on" [We] and recognized.

  For Windows to recognize the second hard drive, it must be partitioned and formatted.

  Go to control panel, administrative tools, computer management, storage, disk management, right click on the new drive, select format, then you can assign a drive letter.

  2. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL cables for 30 seconds.
  3. Restart your router. (Also try to remove the power cord for at least 30 seconds)
