Console VSphere performs hurt

I'm running ESX 4.1 and have VMWare tools installed in the virtual machine.  I see poor performance on some of my vm when I discover the console (2003 R2 and 2008 R2).    The mouse is gittery.  I have hardware acceleration the max value.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Terry

Not sure on 2003 R2, 2008 R2 you may need to update the VGA driver (see http://www.boche.net/blog/index.php/2010/03/28/windows-2008-r2-and-windows-7-on-vsphere/)

  • Console VSphere to VCloud 1.5?

Is no way (even if through the API) to spawn console vSphere VM presented by vCloud?  I ask as a feature we if said that the new line would allow the customer connected USB devices via the console.  We can do that through vSphere 5, but it seems that vCloud has a very limited console that does not allow this.

    All information available on this?

    Thank you

I'm sorry to say that it seems that this feature is not available in 1.5.  Best I can tell it was supposed to be there, but what I can find in the research is that it isn't here.  I have seen some indications that, even to run the virtual machine, must have a USB controller.  I know when I come to deploy a new virtual machine in vCD from scratch, there is no USB controller added as material virtual.  I suspect that this may be a future addition, but to me it doesn't seem to be available.

  • Comments slower XP on vSphere performance

We have a little problem to aweird and even if a call is triggered with vmware I just wanted to see if anyone has seen similar.

We have a XP guest vm that has worked on ESX 3.5 u5 for awhile now without problem.

Recently, we upgraded the battery of esx servers it was running to esx 4.1 u1 and although it seems to work normally some operations take 5 times longer.

For example, a user has complained that a spreadsheet that used to take 20 seconds to open, takes more than 90 seconds now, his colleagues has produced several other spreadsheets are doing the same thing. Then, we realized that open one of these sheets on any guest XP running on vSphere has experienced the same problem.

We decided to move the comments of 3.5 and performance returns to normal, so we rebuilt one of the vSphere with 3.5 servers, and again, the performance was normal.

I tried 4.0, 4.1 ESX ESX and ESXi 4.1 and all present the slow down in performance, even with only a single virtual machine running.

We moved the machine of local storage and it made no difference. ESXTOP does not show anything unusual.

The material is c7000 chassis HP Proliant BL680c G5 blades.

    Any ideas?

What is a 32-bit client?  It is possible that ESX 3.5 used binary translation for that person, but ESX 4.x uses hardware-assisted virtualization.  Try to change the execution mode privileged (under ESX 4.x) binary translation.  See http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/perf-vsphere-monitor_modes.pdf for instructions.

  • Change monitor VM CPU / MMU for best performance?

    People,

I'm about to deploy new features of Windows Server 2008 R2 (Remote Desktop Session Host / RDSH) virtual machines to support 50 + a simultaneous RDP access.

To control the virtual machine CPU / MMU may be a good idea to boost performance?

Here is the setting that I mention that I left by default, but don't know which option to click to enable console vSphere:

    MMU.JPG

do I need to restart the virtual machine to change the option greater than the background value or something else?

and also, it's the model of VMhost CPU type:

    CPU.JPG

any kind of comments would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Assuming that AMD - V is enabled in the BIOS of your host, the automatic setting for Windows Server 2008 R2 on your CPU will be AMD - V with IVR.  In most cases, this will give you the best performance.  However, for young LBR is much more expensive with IVR with shadow paging.  If your workload is a TLB buster, you might want to switch to AMD - V with shadow paging.  On the other hand, the page table updates are much more expensive with pagination shadow with IVR.  Thus, even if your workload is a TLB buster, it might be better to use IVR if your workload also has a high frequency of updates of page table.

Binary translation is rarely a victory.  However, there are rare cases, such as the work of Windows XP 32-bit workloads that rub on the TPR, where the binary translation surpasses hardware-assisted virtualization.

The only way to be sure that you have selected the best mode is all benchmarks.

Yes, you don't have to restart the virtual machine to change the execution mode.

  • How protect VMs borrado accidental in vSphere 4.0?

    Saludos amigos;

¿Conocen algun Método para las protect VMs borrado accidental? Modo to avoid that can seleccionar Escalin consoled vSphere vClient the option to remove the disc.

MI otra duda are, to en 3.5 VI existía un comando (en modo experimental) para recuperacion of VMs (vmdk file) llamado vmfs-undelete, pero are no available in vSphere, ¿hay alguna alternativa distinta opcion esta a VCB?

    Gracias photos colegas.

    Hello that tal!

Mira, as someone can delete o no una VM don't con the option "remove disc" depende permissions as tenga said user might.  For example el usuario con podrá clear sin problemas en cambio, una VM administrator rol a usuario con permissions to read only no podrá hacer mucho in el vSphere Client, mucho menos una VM clear.  vCenter Server viene con varios roles por defecto (a host ESX/ESXi viene con 3 roles por defecto only) there are posible crear roles health con permissions as requieras (tanto en vCenter como Los hosts).  Este sentido mi mid-week are perform a buen perfilamiento users than tienen acceso an ambiente you VMware y asi evitaras Malo ratos.

Respecto a reclaiming of VMs, como alternativa a VCB vCenter Server 4.x viene con a virtual appliance adicional llamado Data Recovery, el cual is available in vCenter Server from the Essentials most edición en. Device of este permite keep as lo requieran, directo a las VM respaldos disco y utilizando de-duplicacion lo hace mas eficiente el uso los recursos disco Québec.

Espero haber aclarado a poco tus dudas.

  • autonomous VMRC console for vcloud Director

    Hello

I use the stand-alone vmrc available in this link VMware vSphere 5: Private Cloud Computing, server and data center virtualization to open the console vsphere.

Is it possible to use the vmrc to open vcloud Director console?

    Please help me.

    Thank you.

Autonomous VMRC is not supported with vCloud Director.

VMware Remote Console 7.0 Release Notes

    • VMRC does not support vCloud Director, vCloud Air and vRealize of automation of virtual machines.

Therefore, you should use the console system provided in vCloud Director.

  • Graphics performance service returned an invalid response.

I get the following error when you try to view Client Web 6 vSphere performance dashboards.  They have worked in the past.  The things that have changed are recently, change the MTU to 9000, updated to the latest patch, and ipv6 disabled on all computers hosts and vCenter.  It's happen for all guests.  Performance counters appear in the Windows of vSphere client.

Re-enable IPv6, this will solve your problem. For some reason, the use of VMware tomcat for the perfchart service instance uses IPv6 local address (0.0.0.0.0.0) to open its listening port.

    Hello guys,.

    I'm having a weird problem

I was wondering if someone on the front,

I plugged an ssd on a server that had a store of data of an another ESX (same version, same hardware)

He had a vm, I added to the inventory and it turned on

everything is fine except that I can't open the console, vsphere client, I get the error: "unable to connect to MKS: internal error.

and vcenter I get: "failed to initialize the ssl on the remote host session.

I have installed several virtual machines in the same data store and they worked normally

    ESX is version 6

    any ideas?

    Thank you very much

    Hi Andre,

Can you try to stop your server (stop no restart) and turning power.

In this way, he will get a new world of vm ID, so try and reconnect

  • vSphere Essentials Plus to level 4.1 to 5.5

    Hi all

I begin the process of upgrading a 4.1 Essentials in addition to 5.5, also essential Plus.

My question is not directly related to the issue of upgrading, but rather ask some advice from a more experienced user. I'll try to explain my problem.

Our current data center consists of three physical servers each with, among other material:

    -2 physical CPU

    -32 GB OF RAM

    -6 GB/s NIC

We also have two switches to provide redundancy of the network between the host computers

The current network layout, as far as the ESX hosts are concerned, do not reside on the implementation of VLAN. He is the current approach of the network by the hosts:

-Each two NIC are grouped into 3 groups NIC

-Each group NIC is connected to two switches, for purposes of availability

-There are basically 3 different physical networks

The problem with the current provision is that almost all communications are limited to 1 Gbps.

Another problem is the issue of scalability not having a VLAN.

I take this window of upgrade, not only for vSphere upgrade to version 5.5, but also to try to improve the scalability and performance of the network.

One of the main goals is to get more than 1 Gbps on communications. Now, this is my way of thinking on this:

-J' I will consolidate the network cards in a group of 4 network cards and another of 2 NETWORK cards. This will give me a total of 2 Gbps on the network management and 4 Gbps on the other networks. QoS can be applied, giving different layouts, but I'm just trying to keep things simple for you (the reader)

As far as I know there may be several approaches:

    (1) use of Cisco Nexus 1000v: as far as I know, this isn't an option, because it requires the Enterprise Plus version, which is not an option ;(

    (2) creation of LACP aggregation not between multiple network cards and two switches: switches HP 2510, which do not support inter trunking switch so it can be done.

So, I find myself with a few, in my perspective two poor approaches:

    (3) create two standard vSwitch, subgroups of the Group of four of the NETWORK card into two groups of two network cards and connecting each vSwitch to a different physical switch. The issue of availability should be ensured on each of the virtual machines that contain two vNIC, one tied to each vSwitch. That would get me a rate of 2 Gbps.

    (4) I use single vSwitch for all 4 cards but, connect it to a single physical switch. I then configure the second switch as a watch only pass with the same configuration as the asset. This would require manual intervention in the case of the failure of the active switch, which would be very unpleasant.

This is the help that I need. Is that all that I'm missing? Is there anything else I can do to try to take advantage of our current infrastructure?

If you have done this far, thank you for your patience .

    Thank you all,

    Rui Santos

From a design point of view, one key rule is to keep it as simple as possible. You don't want to introduce the complexity of your environment. I guess it's only a small environment (the license you have and the number of networks, not not using virtual LANs). 1 GB network is already saturated? My approach to this is to identify where the bottleneck can be. Majority of the number with vSphere performance is in stock, not in the network. If you are really worried about the scalability of the network, the simplest approach for me is to enable a VLAN and allow circuits. You can then combine the 4 NICs in a vSwitch and let (route in port ID function) default load balancing policy do its thing.

    Just my 2 cents...

  • PowerCli deployment script for Dev of VSphere 4.0 environment

HI, I'm new to PowerCli scritping and need a deployment script simple that I can use to deploy VMS 5-10 at a time. This is a Dev Environment and the servers will be removed and redeployed each month after coding.

I have a model that has the configured network and wonder how to automate the deployment instead of right-clicking on it since my console VSphere. What I want the model pre-configured with details of networking or a script that put in? one is fine. I want to run the deployment script to a virtual machine or from the server that is installed on VSphere?

As I mentioned, I am very new to this, so if you can dummy it upwards as far as possible that would be great!

  • to a new domain controller 2003 vsphere

    Hello

We had to create a new Dc and joing Vsphere 4.0 ESS to it.

However, in the console vsphere 4, we still see the old domain name.

How this can be changed to reflect the new domain name.

    Thank you!

I assume you mean the domain the host's FULL name. If Yes, go to the tab "Configuration" of the host and select 'and DNS routing '. There, you'll be able to change the FULL domain name.

  • Can I change the time sampling real Graphics Performance

I am preparing a demonstration and want to display the allocation of resources in real time using vSphere performance dashboards.  Unfortunately, the default sampling rate and an average of periods are not optimal for display assignments for resources with our demonstration.  Can someone tell me if there is an easy way to change these default values?

The sampling rate for the graphics in real time is 20 seconds, which is probably OK, but I WOULD change for 10 seconds.  However, the main issue of concern is the number of samples in which this average is calculated.  This value seems to be very high (I think I saw 300 in a document).  Because this number is very high, the changes I make say every minute (for demonstration purposes), allocation bands don't really show up very well in vSphere performance dashboards.  For example:

If my host has had 10 GB memory active during the last 5 minutes and my demo releases suddenly a very large part of this memory, the performance table the sudden deallocation with the last word on average 10 minutes of data and shows a gradual decline in the allocation of memory.

This behavior is probably what is desired in a system of monitoring, BUT for my demonstration, I want to show a more realistic view of the allocation of resources using vSphere performance dashboards.  This could be accomplished if periods of rate, for a sample mean are configurable.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

On the other hand, I think it's that they do not change settings realtim. It's good for my purpose

I do not know the slow answer due to the memory alloc/dealloc.

BTW if you think the answer above resolved your problem, you might mark it as response.

  • Process to get Performance data for the managed entity c#

Could someone please describe the process for pulling data from the API performance?  The documentation seems a bit muddled.

    Qustions:

Should you create a custom interval perf or you can use the default settings?

If I have a performanceManager MOR and a hostSystem MOR what methods should I call on the PerformanceManger object to retrieve the performance counters on the managed entity? I'm trying to get ready time % of a host.  Looks like I need to use the QueryAvailablePerfMetric method to draw the MetricID and then use the QueryPerf to shoot the actual static...

    Any help is appreciated.

    VirtualFisk

You can use available perfIntervals to extract data.

You have reason to extract performance data, you must first call QueryAvailablePerfMetric to get metricIds and then pass them in the appeal of QueryPerf.

Also to check whether or not real-time data are available on the entity you must first call QueryPerfProviderSummary on entity and check the PerfProviderSummary currentSupported property. If she defined as true, real-time data are available and you can pass PerfProviderSummary refreshRate as intervalID in your QueryAvailablePerfMetric call and still pass this refreshRate as intervalID PerfQuerySpec for QueryPerf appeal.

Please see following code snippet to retrieve data for the managed entity HostSystem (hostMoRef), you can replace it with a managed object of an entity reference

  • Blue screen of death: stop error: 0X000000CE

Hi, I think I got a bad virus on my computer that's all waste.  First of all, it all started when I clicked on a link, while the Christmas on Black Friday shopping. Then I got a download of unwanted software, called system difficulty, (the small icon of Windows) I could not use system restore to remove, whenever I tried to use it, it says cannot restore on this point. Tried several other points, but no joy. Can I get the dreaded blue screen of death with a stop error: 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0x804f8e80, 0xef76aa98, 0x00000000). Could sail in safe mode and tried to fix it with antivirus software, found 26, abducted, ran spybot search and destroy, found nothing. Still no joy. So today, I tried to start in safe mode, and it does not work in safe mode, guard reboot again and again. Then I hit F8 and turned restart turned off so I could see the Blue error screen that would flash for just a second, and now I have this stop error message: 0x000000ce (0xf88be6dc, 0 x 00000000, 0 x 00000000, 0xf88be6dc). I read forums on video and all drivers, but this happened just after I clicked on this link and got the virus with this unwanted software download. Anyone got any suggestions on how to solve this problem? Oh and I downloaded a program called error repair of my other computer and installed but it only scan my computer to find errors and then he wants to buy you the pack premium, so that did not help. It's my computer business running windows xp pro service pack 3. Wish it would have been on this cause she has the system recovery and it worked whenever I had a virus, I couldn't get rid of that. Thank you, Steve

JoseIbarra is the expert resident on the Recovery Console and chkdsk/r. I'll track down his instructions. If the malware is responsible for the BSOD, I do not think that chkdsk /r will help, but it won't hurt. Or you might need to repair your boot.ini file.

DEFINITELY get this brand XP reinstallation CD Dell! You can use it to perform a clean installation of XP or a repair installation of XP (chances are, you won't ever need to perform a repair installation, but it is nice to have this option) or to enter the Recovery Console to perform functions such as chkdsk/r.
Chances are that your data does not fit on one CD! Depending on what you have, you might need to up to 100 CDs or more! Better to buy an external hard drive. Newegg.com has a very good selection of the most affordable. Here is an example:
Creating a Ubuntu CD bootable 'live' (and then startup out of it, rather than on your hard drive) will allow you to copy your data to the external hard drive:
There are also some other CD bootable antivirus (like Avira) which may help you:
