Contains bookmarks on Time Machine?

How can I recover my old favorites Safari of TM? I was not able to locate the folder of bookmarks in TM.

I tried user > library > caches > metadata > Safari > Favorites, but it's not in TM

My Safari bookmarks are on the time since a random date Machine (25 December) I checked, as well as the most recent backup. They are in the directory/library/Safari folder.

  • Restore Safari bookmarks without time-Machine?

    Hello, all the

Out of nowhere, one of my main folders Safari bookmarks disappeared. I'm a fairly knowledgeable Mac user and have no idea how they were deleted.

I do usually external manual backups readers when I did some import an audio works and not very often otherwise (if I don't have a backup from a few months ago) but I added several important bookmarks since it went past 'poof '. It is also a way of saying that I have never set up Time Machine.

So, how can I restore my bookmark.plist over current (tonight) without Time Machine. I know that Firefox - when I used to use it - kept many old .plists and you could scroll just to find later. It seems that Safari would keep much as well even without Time Machine configuration. At least I hope so.

    Thank you

  • Where are the time Machine connects to Sierra?

Running Sierra on a late 2009 iMac. Time Machine works well and updated regularly. However the Time Machine buddy Widget shows all the information. Study using the Console indicates that the TM log entries are to be absent in Syslog. Nothing shows using the "backupd" as a filter on the system log. Under Diagnostics and usage data, I see information for the type of backup and "NOERROR" for completion.

Does anyone know what has changed in the Sierra? Or is it my unit?

Boyfriend of Time Machine does not work with Sierra

Console is 'redesigned', extraction of newspapers can be difficult...

    But!

You can copy the lines of command in Terminal to see the logs of Time Machine ("TM on the fly" and "History of TM")

    Since this discussion started I see how activity time Machine Console with macOS Sierra;

    By copying this command (from John Galt) line in the Terminal I can view TM-history-logs for a few days back;

    Newspaper show - predicate "subsystem =="com.apple.TimeMachine"'-info | grep ' upd: (' | cut-c - 1-19 140-999)

This command line also gives information of a TM running 'on the fly', but after the TM copy I have to put in the line of command again TM start-up for a new copy (I can live with that...)

By copying this command (from chockosmund) line in the Terminal I see what TM is ding on the fly, but did not get the newspaper story.

the log stream - style syslog - predicate 'contains a [cd] 'Time Machine' senderImagePath' - info

This command line is that Terminal shows constantly new TM-logs.

Thank you John Galt and chuckosmund!

I have a separate Terminal office-space computer were I can watch how TM is progressing.

    Hope that answers your question.

  • I updated firefox to version 11 and lost all my folders and bookmarks, how to restore the using Time Machine?

I use Mac OS X Lion. I use Firefox for my research and organized many bookmarks into folders. All bookmarks disappeared after I've upgraded to version 11. I tried to find my profile as suggested in the forums and help documents, but I'm not. I have backups Time Machine of my entire system. Could someone please tell me what are the folders and/or files to restore to recover my favorites?

    Hi chrisquek,

    This Mozillazine article might help:

    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox#Mac

You could probably save all your personal information your profile backup.

    Hope this helps!

  • A few bookmarks do not show so I asked to restore (in the menu bookmark)-now all disappeared. What files are stored bookmarks in (in the system) so I can use time machine to restore from an earlier date?

I do a lot of work on the web and I have a ton of bookmarks that I use to maintain sites. I lost all!

I tried to install a new copy of the program and restore the file Mozilla from the library to the user (in time machine), but all I have is a white space where was the bookmarks bar! I also have a problem trying to re-enter manually all bookmarks. I can open the bookmark drop down, but I can't save all bookmarks. Firefox don't mark all new pages. I still all the passwords in the preferences if I don't want to install a new copy of the program and lose these.

Are there other system files that Firefox uses that I can restore the backup to solve the problem?
I have a Mac Pro and I am OSX 10.6.4
I have used Firefox for years and never had a problem before.
    Can anyone help - please?

This may be a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.

  • I moved a folder of bookmarks in Safari on my desk to alphabetize it but could not move again. Now, Time Machine restores not Safari where I started. Restoration is grayed out and the office keeps - not editor of bookmarks. TM works well.

I tried to move a subfolder of my bookmarks folder to alphabetize it moving it on my desk. It worked, but I couldn't get back in Safari. So I tried to restore the Time Machine Safari but it brought back my desktop and the button restore is gray. I am running Yosemite on one end of 2013 27-inch Mac. Time machine seems to work ok on other issues.

You can only restore the entire file of bookmarks to a previous state. It is not possible to restore the individual bookmarks.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select, then copy it to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination:

    ~/Library/Safari

    Quit Safari.

    Select

    Go ▹ go to folder

in the Finder menu bar. Paste it into the text box that opens by pressing Command + V, then press return.

Should open a folder window. Restore the file named "Bookmarks.plist" in this folder from a previous backup of the changes unwanted.

If you don't have such a backup, but the Favorites are still present on an iOS (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) device that synchronizes with iCloud, then see below.

Save your iOS devices. Turn off sync iCloud Safari on all devices except those. Quit Safari and delete the bookmarks on the Mac, and then enable synchronization Safari on it. Launch Safari. Bookmarks synchronization of your iOS device.

  • FCPX backup copy / pasted Time Machine drive does contain any of my changes.

So I had to reformat my computer, but before I did I made that Time Machine backup of my computer. When you reinstall the operating system, I chose NOT to re - install Time Machine backup. Instead I started clean and then just hung out and let down my FCPX library file of the external drive for Time Machine on the newly formatted Mac desktop. When I open the library of 500 GB, none of my edits exist, even if I had about 40 hours of changes in the project. I'm sure that the backup is somewhere, but I can't find it. Any tips?

Backups must be in a file in ~ / movies. This is the default location.

Have you ever used the clip open depending on the timeline? Check each of your clips and see if they are approximately the same length as your project.

  • Time machine: old back to merge with another of

    Hello

I have a problem my back disc is full. And I have similar backups. whenever time machine backs up all the files (I thought it automatically adds only new... boh.) Anyway could you suggest me how to merge the old backups in order to keep a backup with older and newer files in the corresponding folders? Can I do it manually, but what paths of files across? I know on the restoration in disk utility, but is used to copy a disc shape to another, I read. I have all in one disc, and I want to do new backup now that the mac is new. Thank you very much. Guido

I suggest that you forget about 'fusion' backups Time Machine. Time Machine backups are complex, they contain several levels of permissions and access rules to prevent users from editing, display or delete data belonging to others (or system files).

Time Machine also manages the size of backup itself, so even if you manage to make "a big backup" eventually he will get full & TM will remove the oldest copies (often without warning).

Apple don't support editing, merging, or otherwise change the backups Time Machine.

You would be wiser to upgrade the old backup in a safe place and start a new backup to a new disk. If you need old files you can retrieve them from the old backup.

Another option is to make a copy of your important data for archiving. Simply copy these files to another disk instead of depend only on the Time Machine backups.

  • Sierra Time Machine / Time Capsule problem

After installation of Sierra, I am unable to use Time Machine to a Time Capsule.

There was a MacBook Air with two bootable partitions. The partition Macintosh HD has a system of Yosemite and the score of 'second' was a partition of El Capitan, which was created by a clean install and then allow Migration Wizard copy on Macintosh HD, all accounts, settings, networks and other files. The two partitions have been saved by Time Machine to a Time Capsule. The Macintosh HD partition has been erased and Sierra has been installed on Macintosh HD and Migration Wizard was allowed to copy during the second all accounts, settings, networks, and other files.

Time machine has not worked since. It gets the error message 'no available backup drive.' However, using the Finder, I can get the time Capsule, open the sparsebundle and see all the individual backups. Because I had erased Macintosh HD, I went through the steps to http://pondini.org/TM/B6.html 'reconnect to my backups. Which made no difference (probably because Time Machine is not really see her driving the sparsebundle to the Time Capsule, even if the Finder does no harm to open it).

Then I tried to select again the Capsule as the backup drive. It asks for a password. I give the password and shortly after it comes up with the error message: 25299 Keychain error when creating a system keychain to the URL entry and the user name '< name >' "afp: / / < name > @2%20Tb%20Time%20Capsule._afpovertcp._tcp.local./Data.

(where < name > is the name of the logged-in user) I get the same error message if the user is an independent Director. Despite saying that it was not able to create an entry in the system Keychain, Keychain Access shows that there is an entry with the password. In addition, despite being unable to choose as the backup drive time Capsule, he mounted and left on the desk, the time Capsule (containing the sparsebundle) data folder.

    Any suggestions?

You are the second today with errors of Keychain.

Time machine on network not connection

Sierra is a new OS will have a few bugs... but I think that the way you did this configuration is problematic.

Actually, you have now two partitions with different BONES, but they will have identical computer names (migration has more the name). And it could also spoil the UUID of the disc.

I guess, but I would say

    1. change the name of the computer.

    2. start a new backup... do not try and link the existing backup.

    3. If you still have no success Delete TM (A4 Pondini) plist and reconfigure.

    No post luck returns.

  • Partition missing after restoring from Time Machine

    Hello world

I use an iMac 27-inch mid-2010 and have a WD1230 external 2 TB disk attached to it. I partitioned the external hard drive to allocate 1 TB as a Time Machine backup repository and the other 1 to to put in music, movies and images files to save space on my system aging 1 TB drive.

Good thing I put up this way because one day my system comes to refuse to start. I went in the mode utility and used the Time Machine restore feature to help me get back on my feet. After a restoration of 18 hours, the system is now purrs with all files and settings affected. Bravo for the process of Time Machine!

However, this is the number I noticed during the restoration, formatted system partition on my external drive labeled "STORAGE" which contained my music and movies. I know that the files are there but I need to know how to access these files again as the STORAGE drive is so more appear in the Finder. I did a scan Disk Utility on the hard drive external with no luck either. Can anyone who has gone through this similar situation help out me? Thank you very much in advance!

Restore using Time Machine to copy a game on the disc that you point to backup. It performs no operations on any drive or partition other than the one to which it is to copy the files. If Time Machine, neither utility restore formatted or partitioned external hard drive (unless it is more what you're saying.)

It may be possible to recover lost files from this drive using a disk utility such as restore data of Prosoft. As a former tech, it's my go to software. There is no guarantee that it will work. Dril drivel is another recovery program people I know recommend but I never used it.

  • Time Machine-to the exclusion of directories

I'm backup my iMac SSD drive (500 GB) on a 3T OSX to format drive.  I also use a directory on this 3T USB as a secondary drive in my favorites (Finder).  What I find is that Time Machine takes about 3-4 DAYS to run a backup.  It takes a particularly long time to complete the process of 'cleaning up' after the backup (which apparently does not get completed if broken.)

When I "Get Info" to the Backups.backupdg directory that it takes several hours to calculate the size of this folder (~1.5T), while "Get Info" is almost instantaneous on other 4 or 5 t formatted (NTSC) or another OS x 2 t formatted the disk.

I do this so I can backup the entire disk 3T a cloud or off site backup.

If I can exclude the Time Machine backup of itself, I suspect the backup can be done in less than an hour. Is there a way to do this in Time Machine or must it backs up the entire drive?  If the latter, I'll apply for improvement for Time Machine!

    joshfromalameda wrote:

If I can exclude the Time Machine itself, backup

That confuses me. Time Machine is unable to save himself.

I also use a directory on this 3T USB as a secondary drive in my favorites (Finder).

If you back up the content that is stored on the backup volume, Time Machine will not work properly.

I think there is something on your Time Machine configuration, I don't understand. Even if your iMac contained 500 GB of content source, the initial backup to a drive connected locally can take a few hours. Subsequent incremental (hours) will take only a few minutes.

How this backup disk is connected? USB, FireWire, Thunderbolt...?

  • Is there a community Apple Time Machine or Family Tree Maker software by ancestry.com.au?

I can't find the answer to my posted question, either right now or a few years ago, when I last tried.  Maybe I'm posting in the wrong community.

My question is as above, because I can not restore a deleted of the software said using Time Machine.

I could never do all the time when the software was originally installed on my old mac, and I can't do it after the transfer of all my system from the old to the new mac.  However, my new mac now tells me that it can't open the application, although it is on my Dock and works perfectly with some other trees it contains; He asks me to migrate.  He may not need migration because it works!  Any ideas?

These forums are only on Apple Software and Hardware, so it will not be a forum for any form of third-party software.

I don't see anything specific to Time Machine, but this Web site provides much useful information about Time Machine:

    http://pondini.org

Can you explain exactly what you have restored?

In addition, please explain how the application runs, but doesn't? I'm confused by your statement that it runs from the dock with other trees, but does not otherwise.

In relation to this, you have restored an older version of the App, hoping that your old trees were stored in the app itself? If so, this isn't how everything works. Apps for does not store data in the application. They have separate data storage areas and that's what should be restored.

  • Failed to retrieve the passwords saved backup Time Machine

    Firefox 42 on OS X.

To make a long story short, I accidentally uninstalled Firefox and deleted ALL of its associated files and cache and profile and everything.

I use Time Machine, so don't panic. I have just re-installed Firefox and then copied all files from the most recent profile, before deleting saved on Time Machine in my new profile, and voila, all my bookmarks and modules returned.

BUT... The only thing that is not much matter what I try is saved passwords/login information - I tried several times before to copy the backed up versions of the file signons.sqlite and signons3.txt, reset my computer, etc., but no matter what, when I go into "Saved passwords" it is always empty.

I lose them forever? Is there something I can do?

It was very good work. Play well.
