Controller Raid SATA for Satellite P850

Hi all

We bought a Satellite P850 with Windows 7 Home Premium on it. Because we are a business, we wanted to install Professional on this topic. It seemed to work the first time tempted, but now even if BIOS can see the hard drive, installing windows can't find a driver for the disk controller if I use the following actions - disk Windows 7 Pro OEM, Windows 7 Volume License Upgrade disc, Windows 7 Home Premium - and trying to extract the pilot out of the driver Chipset Windows does not give any joy either.

Can someone let me know the following:
What is the Chipset on the device?
What disk controller is necessary?
If I can find one of these I can get the direct driver of intel
If they found a driver to work with the controller and if yes where can I get a copy?

> trying to extract the pilot out of the Chipset Windows driver don't give not any what joy either.

You used the wrong driver.
You need t to add the driver chipset during the Windows 7 installation process, but must be added the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver

On the page of the Toshiba UE driver you can find the 11.0.0.1032 for Win 7 64 bit version.
This driver must be placed on the USB key and during the installation process you will be asked to add drivers.
You must connect the USB and should add this driver.

Hi all I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 PSLB9E and I am trying to downgrade from Vista to XP. I have the sata AHCI controller mode, I looked for this drivers on the toshiba site and the site of intel, but none of these work when installing xp and pressing f6 when you use a usb floppy drive. Any ideas?

    Hello

If you have set the compatible SATA mode in the BIOS, then you n t need to install all the drivers SATA!
Compatibility mode allows you to run the HARD drive without SATA drivers.

But if you want to use the HDD in SATA mode, then you will set back to AHCI.
In this case the SATA drivers must be installed in order to use the HDD in SATA mode.

The laptop seems to be equipped with the AMD CPU and so you need a SATA chipset AMD driver. That are in the package of graphics (record SBDrv/SATA") driver

After reading almost all threads talking about it, I know that I need a driver for my chipset, but Satellite PRO L300 PSLB9E what controller use exactly?

For example, I have this list.
Which one should I install? Where can I find it?

Lot of thanks and sorry for the mistakes, I am not very strong in English

You need to install the SATA drivers before you install Windows. If you have two options:

1 copy the drivers on a floppy disk. After that, you start from the Windows CD and press F6 to load drivers.

2 do. you a new installation with nLite disc. Search forum, there is a lot of discussion on this topic.

If you have problems to do this, ask here in the forum. ;)

  • Help Setup RAID SATA for ESXi 4.1

    Hello

It is the first time that you try to use vmware.  Any help is greatly appreciate!

I just built a server around the Intel s5500hcvr mother. I have 6 SATA HDD I want to set up in a RAID. The integrated RAID controller seems to be very limited and does not seem to be supported by ESXi 4.1 (when I run ESXi 4.1 installation and it asks for a location for installation, all my discs are individually listed instead of virtual drives that I created with the RAID controller)

    My questions:

    (1) what is the suggested configuration of HDD (RAID levels / number of berries) for ESXi 4.1?  Can I create 1 RAID 10 array and set everything up to that?  or take one of my disks and install esxi 4.1 on it and then create a RAID with the rest of my discs and use it to store data?

    (2) anyone can provide links to some SATA RAID controllers that are known to work with ESXi 4.1 (and is the supposed to recognize virtual readers created by the RAID controller setup ESXi 4.1)

Your motherboard has a RAID controller software which, as you have discovered, is completely not taken in charge by ESX/ESXi... You will need to get a RAID controller that is on the HCL for SAS and SATA hard drives (not one with battery backup write cache) so you can use any type of RAID configuration.

My preference for Internal RAID configurations (on the host) are two drives mirrored for ESX/ESXi to reside (preferably being SAS 10 k or 15 k RPM, 73 GB or 146 GB in size) and then another table for the data store. You'll want to keep the data slot store table 2 TB-512 b size in order to present to ESX/ESXi as a LUN. Or you will need to get a RAID card this split of the support to the top of the table in the smaller of the virtual drives that can be presented for ESX/ESXi and LUNS.

Search for controllers using the LSI MegaRAID chip as a good first lap. Some Adaptec cards should work, but I've seen people post questions on those recent (more recent than in the past). MANY manufacturers rebrand/efficiency the LSI MegaRAID Controllers server, such as the Dell PERC 6 series cards.

For the use of 4 disks SATA, RAID 10 (on a BBWC, fully supported, controller) will give you the best performance. It will compare with SAS drives however. IF you do not plan on any virtual machine running with anything beyond light IOPS / s then you should be ok (or with very light loads)... If this is going to be a production server, then get the SAS drives all around.

  • Re: Ethernet controller XP driver for Satellite A40

Hi all first post and im desperate.

I'm trying to sort my laptop Satellite a40 of neighbors.
They had the CD of two recovery, but trying to do a full restore returned to the top! Error!

After pressing 2 to continue. Thought discs must be scratched and had it.
Then loaded win xp pro witch went without a hitch until I needed to go on the internet.
Even then I thought that the ethernet controller is not difficult to find.

What a mistake it was me? Driver was not on the two recovery CD and I tried both drivers intel on the download without result page.
They both seem to be for Wireless Lan.
I just need the ethernet (LAN) to work.

    Can someone please help
    See you soon

    Hello

There is a LAN driver on the Toshiba driver page:

Your Satellite L500D does support the ATI graphics card?

In this case the GPU ATI driver contains the chipset and SATA drivers.
This means that we must look in the folder of the graphics card to a compatible SATA driver driver.

I can't use on my P850 nvidia drivers? or is that it is some sort of toshiba brand drivers?

    > Can't use on my P850 nvidia drivers? or is that it is some sort of toshiba brand drivers?
In General, you can do what you want with your laptop, but it is strongly recommended the use of drivers for computer laptop manufacturer only. Toshiba drivers are changed and offer some sort of protection. With other words, the graphics card will not forced to run on the highest level.
This desire to avoid overheating or material damage.

    Stay with Toshiba drivers only.

    Hello!

You can get the drivers on the Toshiba driver download page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

Select the type of driver Storage Manager. This package contains the SATA drivers.

To load the drivers, you must press F6 after start of the CD. Then, you load the driver of an external floppy drive.
If you don t have an external floppy drive, you can use nLite. With this tool you can also integrate drivers, service packs, patches,

  • Need drivers SATA for Satellite A100 (PSAA3E)

I'm hoping that someone ca help me.

I'm doing a new installation of vista 32-bit, but the computer does not display my hardrive. I've been to the site of intel and tried to install a good pilot "storage manager", which relates to the chip, which I think is an express 945gm... the computer is not recognizing any drivers. I went to the download area of toshiba it seems to have all the drivers except those who will help me to install my drives hard sata.

I'm really frustrated, but do not want to give up. I want to just vista recognize the drive hard when I do a new installation.

Please help any help will be highly appreciated

Man, it's really weird. Windows Vista doesn´t need the SATA drivers since they are already integrated into the installation disc.

I mean are you really sure, you´re using a Windows Vista installation disc? Moreover, since the doesn´t of disc Vista need all sata, Toshiba doesn´t drivers offer all SATA drivers on their driver download page.

Double check everything and make sure that you have you´re through a genuine Vista installation disc.
May I ask what operating system shipped with your machine? XP or Vista?

  • Need driver XP German SATA for Satellite L40 - 14N

Can someone help me find the right driver?
I installed Vista and you want to install Win xp

    Thank you

    Pupp

You need the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
This driver (tool) can be downloaded from the Intel page.

Then this driver must be included in the installation of XP
Either you install the external FDD USB drive or you will create a new XP CD using a 3rd nLite software and might include the iMSM driver.

  • Re: Need driver XP SATA/RAID for Satellite Pro U400

    Hi all

I've searched and searched, but I can't for the life of me find suitable driver to install XP on my machine. It came pre-installed with Vista which is useless to me because of the instability, bugs, just be a poor OS. I got the new laptop for a week now and have not been able to use again, so it would really appreciate someone pointing me in the direction of SATA/RAID drivers for XP.

    Thank you!
    E.g.

    Hello

The Satellite Pro U400 needs a SATA driver, and you can find it in the Intel Matrix Storage Manager package.

This storage manager can be downloaded from the European driver Toshiba page (see the series of portable different) or you can also download it from the Intel site.

The SATA driver must be installed during XP Setup process. You must press the F6 key to include a 3rd party (SATA driver) from the external USB floppy drive.

If you don t have a floppy drive, then you could create a clean XP CD with SATA driver. NLite freeware software can be useful for these jobs

My advice is; Google a bit for nLite for more details.

  • For the installation of the satellite P850-30W system - can I use a SSD

    Hi all!

Telephone tech support couldn't give me an answear good so I try my luck on this forum instead.
I just bought a Toshiba Satellite P850 30W and what I understand there is a m-sata port available.

My question is: is it possible to put for example a CRUCIAL RealSSD M4 SSD 128 GB mSATA in this machine, install W7 on it and use it as a OS disk? and use the 2.5-inch slow for storage disk.

I don't want to buy a new sata m before I know it is doable, I would also like to know the best and easiest to do this, seen a lot of different approaches in different forums.

IF I install w7 on the m-sata drive can I use the series key provided with the preinstalled windows or what I call MS?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

    Hello

The P850 Satellite supports the common SATA controller.
You can use a common SSD 2.5 drive, that support the SATA interface.

    Hello

You will find on the page of the Toshiba EU pilot the AHCI driver packs for Win 7 32 bit / 64 bit and win 8. There is no driver for the chipset AMD in Win XP.

It seems that AMD does not Win XP AHCI/RAID/SATA drivers for this chipset.

However, download the version of Win 7.
Unzip the package. Now, you'll see an exe file. It's a package too.
Right-click on the exe (TC40115700D) and extract the package.

    Now, go to:
    TC40115700D-packages-> drivers >-> SBDrv->-> AHCI SB7xx
There you will find the files amd_sata/driver

But again: not quite sure if Win XP would be able to manage it.

  • ESXi: SAS Raid 1 Boot w / SATA for backup?

    Situaltion:

    • There is currently no effective backup strategy.  Download that data over a slow WAN link can be used to restore or install timely.

    • 2 units of each SCSI 146 GB for $100 / month.  2 each 1 TB SATA disks for $100 / month, provider supplied NAS 300 GB for $150 / mo.  Seller provided iSCSI for 300 GB to $200 / month.

    • Cost per GB SCSI is not yet close to that of SATA.  Two 146 GB drives would be very marginal.

    • I intend to load balancing and cluster two sites on servers with something like CARP.  I am open to any suggestion using NAS and iSCSI.  The main things that matter are mysql used by http, http and email.  Sites are dynamic and use PHP which requires the session data.

    Mission:

    • Store copies of virtual machines, store ISO images, make backups of the operating system and perform backups of application server to provide access to the required software and backup and highspeed images.

    • Retain the ability to balance the load and 2 cluster sites.

    Equipment available:

    Execution:

I need your ideas to develop a good strategy.

    1. Yes.  You can assign to ESX directly and create a VMFS out of it, and then give that space for the virtual machine that you use for the backup.  You have to be careful and make sure that go you through the HCL (vmware.com/go/hcl) to get a SATA controller supported.  Not all controllers will work and be recognized by ESX.

2 Yeap.  You need not necesarilly CYGWIN for NFS, there are tools of $ M that can be loaded as well Windows services for unix, either will endeavour to provide an NFS server.  The downside is you need a windows license, but the customer is handy to have.  You can use a virtual linux machine, and even if you can't use the vi client, you can use the remote cli tools that are available for Linux.  Vima (VI Management Assistant) unit is a device based on linux with the remote cli installed, might want to take a look if you have not already.  You can use samba on it and be able to map a drive as your windows machines.

    3. Yes, absolutely.  If you have an NFS server, you can also use it as a data store NFS for the 2nd Server.

4 VCB is very convenient and it will allow you to skip creating a server and the export of the step of the vm, but you will still need to configure vcb proxy, which will need a windows server.
