Conversion in failure "the reconfiguration of processing data store.

I'm trying to convert a Windows XP SP3 machine that has one partition D:. When I try to convert, it fails to stage "Transformation of the reconfiguration data store" with an error indicating "FAILURE: unable to find the system volume, reconfiguration is not possible." I checked the boot.ini file and it seems to be ok, however when I run a Spotmau CD to try to make some recovery/survey to see what the problem is, it shows Windows is on C:, and in the conversion process step that says "Drive to update for the layout of the destination volume letters" goes and comes without error , so I guess that converter is changing the drive letter, that is all pipe up. Can I prevent converter to change the drive letter, or can I change afterwards?

Thanks in advance for any help.

xp is the easiest Converter 3.0.3

that sets up work correctly

with 4.3 you MUST order the buslogic controller

    Hello

    Solution is that you must change the drive to another data store and increase space.

    First findout in spatial data store is avaialble.

    Select the virtual machine and migration - migration datastore - Advanced - click the drive on which you want to increase space - browse - choose data store where space is available - finishing

    After migration - more space.

    I am trying to retrieve the name of the scope that each data store. When I use of GUI of Vsphere Client, I can access it by clicking on a data store and in the configuration tab, so I know that somewhere there exists information.  I have spent a lot of time to API reference and have not found a way to access to information.  Does anyone have any ideas on how I can catch these data?

    I solved it myself, DatastoreInfo is extended by the VmfsDatastoreInfo, which allows you to access HostVmfsVolume which has extensions as a field!

  • Moving a disk of the user in another data store

    Hello!

    I have an office pool that is used by a few users and now I discovered, as i wan't to upgrade the user drives my Netapp file server to use snapshots on them. Is there a way to move a disc of the user to its current location on the same os drive data store was a new data store?

    I know that I can put in place a new pool, but let the user discs when I do this, so this isn't an option.

    Anyone know how I can keep my user records, moving them to another data store?

    Currently a UDD cannot be moved the data to be backed up and restored. Alternatively, you can also turn on roaming profiles have the connection of the user in two places, once everything is in place, turn them off.

    I have a few questions. the original VM is up and runing correctly... but I don't know what to do next, please can you help me?

    1. I can move the original VM to another store of data with more than one space the machine consolidate? or it's very risky?

    2 I can always use the actual virtual machine without group until I have buy new data store and the passage to the new data store and consolidate? or maybe to clone the virtual machine to the new data store and remove them the old VM?

    3º if the cloned version works like the original VM machine, I guess I can pass version clone production and delete the virtual machine no consolidated this original data store?

    Kind regards

    There's nothing uncommon to 'Migrate' computer virtual data to another store. With Essentials it will unfortunately take time out well (without live migration of storage available).

    In any case, the cloning should also work. The clone will get however a new address UUID and MAC, (i.e. you may need to reconfigure the network), and the cloned VM will get a new ID of virtual machine, which can be important if you use a virtual machine based backup application. However, cloning does not touch the source, so if something does not work as expected you still have the source available.

  • Better use of disk space on the server esxi (for data store)

    I have a HP Proliant DL380G6 which currently has 2 146 GB hard drives in a Raid0 configuration.  We quickly realize that this is not enough space for all of the virtual machine, we have running.

    Is there a way of 'clean' to add disks to this server - by this I want to say one where we don't have to add readers, and then reconfigure the raid5 raid card, and reinstall...

    And on a related issue (even if it may seem irrelevant):

    Some of our virtual machines are currently on a mounted NFS datastore that I want to spend in the local data store.  One of them has quite a few clichés that take up a lot of space.  What is the CORRECT way to migrate the virtual machine to the other local datastore, get rid of all snapshots (maintenance of the VM in its current state)?

    Believe it or not. . Just select Remove all.

    You are here is not a cliché. . It's your current state and not be deleted unless you select "go to" (note the different icon)

    (even if I understand your concern)

    If you are really nervous and wants to prove it to yourself, just test it on a virtual machine with no snapshots (create a snapshot, add a file, delete the snapshots and see if the files still exists)

  • ESXi connection to the Windows SFU NFS data store

    We plan to install 3 servers ESXi with virtual machines hosted on local.  A backup script align the images and move the *.vmx and *.vmdk to a NFS data store located in separate facilities which are connected via fiber.  All connections are links of 1 G.  The NFS data store will be hosted on w2k3 with SFU (Microsoft Services for Unix).

    The NFS data store will be a target for cloning and will be located in a building separated for "geographical separation."  I tested with Veema FastSCP (the public beta)... it's ok (30Mbytes/sec).  I assume that the clone process will take about 5 hours - but we can tolerate the performance hit after opening hours.

    Question:  Is there a "traps" to know by linking each ESXi server in the same directory NFS exported using SFU?  Perhaps more to the point... no problem with ESXi and Windows SFU?

    Before anyone asks... we do this on a 'super-thin budget' (that is to say... $ 0) using existing hardware, otherwise I would have ESX Enterprise and SAN storage!

    Some discussions to look at on the performance.

    I searched doc help WTT Atlas, just found this: "the MoveMachine command allows users to move client computers between the basins of the machine. This command assumes that the user has permissions of correction to carry out operations and generates an error if this is not the case. "

    Note: this command just explain machine displacement between the watersheds of the machine instead of the data store.

  • Get the scsi for a data store information if the data store is known

    Hello

    I'm looking for a way to get the information of scsci for a data store if the name of the data store is known. In perl/powershell, this is not a big problem, but how to do this using the Orchestrator. It seems that some information is not available/accessible in vCO, as information volume.extent (object VcHostFileSystemVolume).

    For an example on how to do who, in powershell, see

    http://vwiki.co.UK/Datastore_to_LUN_Mapping_%28PowerCLI%29

    No idea on how to do the same with the Orchestrator.

    Hello

    Onyx would not help in this case. After thinking a bit, I found the solution. I looks like:

    for each {(var Mon in wfHostObject.configManager.storageSystem.storageDeviceInfo.multipathInfo.lun)

    System.Debug ("number of paths:" + lun.path.length);

    for each {(var path in lun.path)

    If (path.state == 'active') {}

    //

    Download the mountinfo

    //

    System.Debug ("mountinfo length:" + wfHostObject.configManager.storageSystem.fileSystemVolumeInfo.mountInfo.length);

    for each {(Mount var in wfHostObject.configManager.storageSystem.fileSystemVolumeInfo.mountInfo)

    If (mount.volume.hasOwnProperty ("extent")) {}

    for each {(measure of var in mount.volume.extent)

    var tmp = extent.diskName.split(/\./);

    var regExp = new RegExp(tmp[1],'gi');

    If (lun.id.match (regExp)) {}

    System.Debug ("mount.type:" + mount.volume.type);

    System.Debug ("mount.name:" + mount.volume.name);

    System.Debug ("extent.diskName:" + extent.diskName);

    }

    }

  • Small footprint of the unassigned same VM data store

    Please find attached the document as data store has 34 GB of 550 GB of free space. A single VM is assigned to this data store, but inside the virtual machine, there is no space is used.

    Disc dish is the size of the disc that has been created, the flat disc contains all the data that has been added to the guest OS.

    In your case the disc to do has increased in size that the data has been added in the guest OS, thin disk claimed space on the data store that data are added.

    The user has been deleted and the data in the guest operating system, this operation does not reduce the size of the disk.

    If you want to recover the space, then a svmotion could be performed or a clone of command line with a thin switch "-d".

    Hope he have been very useful.

  • Connect the ESX host and data store on another ESX host

    Hello

    assuming for this scenario:

    Host ESX 1: esx1

    Host ESX 2: esx2

    It is possible to mount esx2 datastore in esx1? (For example: via NFS). Of course, it is possible use a NAS/SAN intermediary, but I wonder if it is possible to achieve a direct mount.

    Thank you

    Eddie

    Well, to allow another host to share the local data store, the host must be able to act as an NFS server. The problem is, there is no service in one of the ESX version which able to serve that. So, as said what a.p., no, is not possible.

  • Change the name of a data store?

    Hello

    Is it possible to change the display name of a data store NFS I have 8 nodes in a cluster connected to?  This is for aesthetic reasons only - consistency of the naming convention.  Just curious, if I renamed the store of data for data store in vSphere VCenter, did change the display name for each host?  Or I have to change the display name to each host using the "hosts and Clusters".  Just curious to know if I can do that, while virtual machines are run with no negative effect... or should I stop literally all of the virtual machines to do this.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    You can change the name of data warehouses (NFS, iSCSI, FC etc.) at any time and without any negative effects.

    Just right click, rename it to your heart's content!
