Conversion to logical recovery partition - is it logical?

Hello everyone,

My new dv6-6070se with win7 64 bit has 4 primary partitions. So I can't create new partitions.

But if I delete or convert one of them to the logic, it will be possible to create new partitions.

I already have a DVD series of recovery with the Recovery Manager. What happens if I convert the recovery partition (~ 15 GB) of elementary logic. Does this affect the usefulness of this partition as a source of recovery?

And likewise, I have 2 other primary partitions, HP (99 MB) tools and SYSTEM (199 MB). How important are they?

Any suggestions?

Thanks to advnce.

If you created the recovery DVD popular with those non-rewritable, and then use the Recovery Manager to delete the recovery partition, use Windows disk management. After he is gone then you can create you own new partition.

If you were to change the logic it would need anyway. Leave it alone ' system', if you delete that or that you resize, your machine unbootable.

HP tools has diagnostic applications in there to test your hard drive, memory, save a corrupted flash BIOS which is best left alone etc.

You can access by typing immediately press f2 at startup upward.

I needed to create a new partition, but to make as Easeus Partition Master Home Edition 9.00 (I like to use that this compared to the windows one..) said I needed to convert one of the 4 pre-made primary logical partitions. The following partitions have been made previously with my laptop, HP G62-b32SA, which were all primary:

    *: SYSTEM

    C:

    D: RECOVERY

    *: HP_TOOLS

I could not convert "Recovery D:" the logic, I went ahead and then could create a new partition. But now after reading many post on this Forum, I realized what a mistake that was. I found that that convert the logical recovery partition makes it useless... I said "Oops". Now, I wonder if I convert the partition recovery in primary school, I'll be able to use it again, or the harm was done? But then the other problem is that it will not convert the recovery to the primary Partition, saying "there are no free slots of MBR. Also, I feel like I have to remove my newly created partition to convert the primary recovery partition, but then how do I create a new partition without conversion of the force to the logic? The endless questions, I know. So now I ask, what is the best thing to do?

My Pavilion dv6 comes with Windows 7 64 bit pre-installed, the portitioned HD in the MBR in of 4 1ry: utility (FAT32), system, C and recovery. I need more partitions for Linux and an encrypted partition. Now, if I reduce C, then remove backup recovery, create an extended partition containing logical partitions can I recreate the recovery of the backup (now logical) partition? In other words, F11 will be still functional on pressing at the start?

    Hello

It is a great guide on the link below by Daniel_Potyrala about the re-partitining your HARD drive.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/other-notebook-PC-questions/how-to-REPARTITION-HDD-of-HP-notebook-with-pre-loaded-Windows-7/TD-p/742019

In response to the last part of your question, your recovery disks will recreate the recovery Partition - , but this process will erase all custom partitions you created and your laptop will be returned to its original state, that is to say with 4 primary partitions.

Missing a very important information: preinstalled OS the original that you have with your laptop or you have installed a clean version of Windows?

When you buy the new book it comes with factory settings. If long your laptop has this plant, you will be able to install the recovery image according to instructions with F8 at startup. If you change something that it will no longer work (install own os, partition structure).

In this case you must use the created recovery disc but I assume you didn't create one although it is clearly described in the document s user manuals.

Problem is that you can't do much. Either it works or not. If there is no way to install image recovery I'm afraid you need to order the new Mr. recovery disk you can do it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • S 4530 HP recovery partition

I just bought a Hp Probook s 4530. There were 3 partitions. Two of them were recovering C: and hp.

I wanted to make more partitions, so I shrunk the size of C with software and making a new partition. But somehow that changed the recovery partition hp from the primary to the logic.

So, my question is who is this usable yet partition for recovery or change of logic has made useless?

And my second question is, if I use the Hp recovery partition to restore my pc, will all my scores and the deleted data or only the system files will be restored?

Thanks to anyone who can answer these questions!

    Hello:

I can only answer a question.

If you use your recovery partition to recover the PC, all partitions will be removed and the hard drive partitioned and formatted as it came from the factory.

I also believe that since you changed the recovery partition, you can make it unusable.

Best to get a set of HP recovery disks or make your own windows 7 installation DVD while reading the info below.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

I know that my windows partition not damaged because I change it and I work on the recovery partition but my widows will not start.

Make a Paragon partition manager boot disk, boot from it and undo the changes to the partition.

    or try this

Use F8 to the beginning of the power up when you see the HP splash screen, that you get the advanced screen, select 'repair your computer' and press ENTER, once that loads of Windows recovery environment, select 'repair your computer' once again, if you get a dialog box on it to find problems and you want to repair say no.

Once you get to the screen tools select Startup Repair, see if he can repair windows startup, restart when it is done, see if it will load windows now.

  • Hard drive recovery partition

    Hello

    I have hp Pavilion dv6

I got my pc with the recovery disc for the new internal hard drive.

There are 4 primary partitions c

    System

    recovery

    HP tools

to activate the other partitions, I converted the recovery disc to the logic.

but now I want to store the recovery on the external drive and remove it from the pc... would it be possible to use the external hard drive recovery in the future.

something more like I want to install 2 os so I need two drives elementary then that can be deleted from the SYSTEM or TOOLS HP

Please help me with this task.

There is no need to copy to external hard drive. Make your DVD or USB Flash Media - Player's recovery. Although you may have already broken the recovery partition function by changing logic.

  • HP recovery partition and dynamic disk!

Just got my new laptop and added a partition of my HP pavilion dv7 WIN 7 64 bit and noticed disc was dynamic. I don't know if it changed the dynamics or as it was delivered. I'll always be able to use the recovery on the dynamic disk partition? And if I create recovery discs, they will work on the dynamic disk or will it convert back to base?

It can work with Easus software, but I'm sure that you need to remove this extra partition before conversion back is possible.

If you need an extra partition, look HERE page on the use of the recovery partition or delete to free up hard disk to create a new partition without conversion by burning a resumption of course the value of dynamic_after.

  • Have an Acer which need a reinstall, but I don't want to use the recovery partition.

Basically, Acer for a reason any installed this copy of windows with a buttload of bloatware, used FAT32 instead of NTFS, and added a recovery partition which literally takes half of the hard drive. No physical reinstall disk, of course.

What I am wanting to do is to install a new copy of the same version of Windows from a vanilla install disc, but I did not posses disc. My questions are:

1 - ordinary copy, non - OEM activate again using the old product key?

    2. is it legal to download an .iso of the Setup from somewhere disk to install it? (If not, I might be able to locate a friend with a copy...?)

Anti-malware programs are a good tool to use, but they are not 100%.

About file system conversion, see these two pages:

    http://www.NTFS.com/quest3.htm

    http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/ntfscvt.php

Since you already have a safe way to reinstall XP, I just do it. No need to download the .iso that could end does not properly.

Just a blank hard drive, I can boot from a bootable device but I have no way to reinstall Yosemite because I don't think I had an installation with her DVD. I posted this under Yosemite, instead of El Capitan - very sorry.

The update has not changed the recovery partition, it is still at 10.11.5

Ran 10.11.6 combination update, still do not update to recovery partition.

  • Rebuild the recovery partition

    Hi all

Since my macbook pro in construction since a backup time machine, I have no recovery partition. Not sure if the recovery of time machine is the cause, or that the guy who has this laptop (work) in front of me he erased accidentally.

I tried to use the script of "Recovery Partition creator" on several occasions, but it did not work. It becomes very urgent to get the recovery as soon as I'm running into several issues that require me to have the partition:

    • Disk errors on my internal drive that requires a correction
    • Need to encrypt my hard drive
    • Try to resize my disk internal, so I can install El Captain next to my current OS X I just need to test before you lose access to the work of the features (earlier version cannot be installed as he does not like our proxy for example).

Happy to go all the way to 'clean up' and then to retrieve locks of tiem machine, but no idea how to do things right :-(

    Any ideas?

I feel that you are not the first user or 'owner' of the MBP.  If this is the case, I suggest the following:

    Back up all your data.

Erase the HARD drive and start in the recovery of the Internet (OPTION-COMMAND-R) which will connect you to the Apple servers.  Following the directions, you will be able to erase the HARD drive and install the original OSX the MBP came with.  The recovery partition must be created.  (I guess that the MBP is a 2011 late model or newer).

Install a more recent OSX (as appropriate).

    Reinstall your user data.

    Ciao.
