Convert Compaq 7100 CMT from XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro.

Title: Convert Compaq 7100 CMT from XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro.

Hello everyone. The Windows XP Pro on my Compaq 7100 CMT is replaced with Windows 7 Professional (32 bit) using a system OEM disc that I bought in a PC shop. The computer is 3.2 GHZ Intel Pentium 4, 2 GB ram, HDD with a 320 GB Seagate 7200 RPM ATA serial / min. plug some additional computers, Compaq 7100, WCL PP255US, s/n system {removed privacy}, {removed from privacy} inventory number Council ch h 0968, bios hp 78 1 v01.05 16/06/2004. Physically disappears the 40 GB hard drive with XP Pro and the 320 GB drive (currently 1 player) will be used as drive 0 and Windows 7 Pro is installed. He probably won't be partitioned into two drives. A Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor report was generated for this computer, and is the main concern of this report, "virtualization technology is not supported, this PC does not support hardware virtualization assisted". As you know that this statement refers to the XP mode which is optional for Windows 7 Professional.  My question is what material makes this PC not support for virtualization technology, and this PC can be modified to support the necessary hardware. I'm a novice at this sort of thing so maybe I do not understand what that means here the report. In addition, another concern of mine is how will the PC really run Windows 7, it will be too slow for example. I would appreciate your help and comments.

Thank you

Oscar

Hey, Oscar:

There is no processors VT supported for the dc7100, so activation of VT in this machine is not going to happen.

If you have integrated Intel card, is not entirely Windows 7 or Vista capable.

Here is the link to a graphic driver for laptop that will allow the graphics acceleration and a change in screen resolution, but you won't have Aero under any circumstances.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=447371&prodNameId=447348&swEnvOID=2096&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=ob-47264-1

You download and run the install file. It will be the error. Close the error window.

You will need to manually install the driver by clicking on the VGA adapter in Device Manager. Click on update driver driver. Select travel it my computer for the software method and navigate to C:\SWSetup\sp34749. Make sure that the include subfolders is selected and the driver should install.

Otherwise, you can buy a video card compatible windows 7 (PCIe x 16 2.0), who will work in your diet 345W specifications.

    You are the very welcome.

Please read this guide to make a USB flash drive bootable.

    http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197

You must download and install the HP USB format by the link tool there is on the Web page.

Use the tool to format and do a usb flash drive bootable.

Then, you will need to download Windows 98 DOS files from the link there is on the Web page.

Then, you copy and paste the files BACK of Windows 98 in the bootable flash drive.

Then you download and run the update of the firmware from this link.

    http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=472278&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3Didx%253D%257CswItem%253DPSG_I23753_109013%257CswEnvOID%253D1093%257CitemLocale%253D%257CswLang%253D%257Cmode%253D%257Caction%253DdriverDocument&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken

You will now see an instruction page after you run the update of the firmware.

Under the section titled USB Flash Media Micro Code flashing in the BACK, select BACK Flash happy folder view.

Copy all the files on your USB drive bootable.

    So, to summarize...

    1. you have a bootable USB key with the HP format tool

    2. you copied files BACK of Windows 98 in the bootable flash drive

    3. you have copied the contents of the flash HP firmware BACK on the bootable flash drive folder.

You are now ready to update the firmware.

Insert the flash drive into a USB port.  Turn on the PC and at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, press the F9 key to get the start time menu.

Select the boot from USB drive option and press the Enter key and the PC should boot from the flash drive on.

Now you need to know a few basic DOS commands.

You should be at the command prompt.

At the command prompt, type the FLASHBIN.exe command and press the Enter key.

Then follow the instructions on the screen to update the firmware.

  • Clean the OS install on HP Compaq dc7800p CMT - which drivers/software for HP?

    Gentlemen.

I decided to first try the road at low prices and to order a recovery disc Vista professional instead of a copy of Win7 for my HP Compaq dc7800p CMT with Intel Core Duo E6550 2.33 GHz processor, 1 GB of DDR2 800 MHz RAM and HARD drive retail 80 GB sata.

I'll have to download drivers and software from HP and there is such an astonishing array of software available for this model I don't know really what to download and what I can let it slide.

This is designed to be a professional computer maintained by computing professionals, but I just want what he as a general-purpose computer "ordinary".

Now I tell myself that I should get certainly all drivers because they are strictly based on the material and will also apply to my needs to those of the original unit office drone was designed for. I just discovered, in cases where there is more than one choice of material, what advice or feature of this particular machine has to obtain the correct driver.

But sometimes to wonder if, as Vista will be installed on a HP reinstall drive, has the disc still a library of drivers HP to replace the more generic drivers that can come from a MS retail disk, which makes it unnecessary for me to download drivers HP. I doubt it, but it is best to ask.

The BIOS is less obvious. I think that there is a BIOS version that is newer than the one currently on this machine (786F1 v01.04). I've heard several philosophies on the BIOS updates: one is, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it. " Just replace the BIOS if there is a problem (s) it might lessen. The other school says you should always have the latest version of everything, even if it not is not the current problems. So, should I get the latest version of the BIOS?

I have no idea what ' ME ' designated operational entities and firmware if I should worry about this.

Also less obvious is the software designed for increased security, seamless integration with an enterprise network and generally make it easier for the IT guys earn their salary. I don't know what, if any, utility most of these things would provide in my situation. If there is no hardware on the system which would "complain" If a particular piece of software was not installed, then for the stability of the system, I do not want to have even if I never use it.

I know I ask much, here, but Paul Tikkanen in response to my initial post on this computer, mentioned a few BIOS settings that may be to my advantage. I'll use these suggestions and all that more that can take this machine more pleasant to work with my circumstances.

Sorry... Just one thing. The descriptions I've read of this computer say she a dial-up modem 56 built-in of k, but it is referred to as a 'soft' modem It applies to a sort of virtual modem that exists only if the driver for it is installed? When I ran HP Insight Diagnostics, a sort of device LAN has been entered, but not modem. I have a dial-up modem, believe it or not. I just downloaded the SP3 for Vista and it took about 21 hours! Ridiculous, but it prevents me from wasting time on the cat and pornography videos.

I'll have to download drivers and software from HP and there is such an astonishing array of software available for this model I don't know really what to download and what I can let it slide.  There is a page of software and the drivers of the computer.  You can install all the drivers on this page.  If the driver does not need to be installed the system will tell you.

This is designed to be a professional computer maintained by computing professionals, but I just want what he as a general-purpose computer "ordinary".  Here is the technical reference Guide for your computer.  It has all the information you might need.  In some sections, it has all the models listed.  Just look at the CMT.

Now I tell myself that I should get certainly all drivers because they are strictly based on the material and will also apply to my needs to those of the original unit office drone was designed for. I have no idea what ' ME ' designated operational entities and firmware if I should worry about this.  Firmware is the software that tells the operating system do with a component, as for example a drive opticlal (CD/DVD drive).  Windows Update can also be found for you,

    Thank you

    Felicia Lovelett

    Hi Felicia,

Sorry, you have problems! You have the desktop app creative Cloud installed, with synchronization of file running? This will synchronize your projects first Clip and media locally on your computer, allowing Premiere Pro to open. (If you only synchronize your active CC Web Storage, Premiere Pro is not able to access.)

From the desktop application creative cloud in your menu bar, click the gear icon, and then click Preferences. Click the files tab, and verify that the synchronization is on. Here is also where you can see the location of your creative cloud on your computer folder. When you choose "Convert first Clip Project" in Premiere Pro, it should point to this folder on your computer.

Please let me know if it helps!

    Thank you

  • Compaq DC7700 CMT: Power supply Assembly for dc7700 cmt

I got a HP Compaq DC7700 CMT (convertible minitower) and want to install my XFX XT power supply in it series.

It seems that the holes for the screws may be different. No power supply is available for the side by side comparison.

    If anyone can check that?

and, is it possible to install a "standard atx" PSU in this dc7700.

If Yes, what should be done.

The XFX PSU adapts physically, and it seems that the connectors on the motherboard are all compatible.

My only concern right now is if the new XFX PSU moved to the back of the tower.

I count on the installation of a hard disk with Windows7 on it, two spare HARD drive as the network maps and graphs updated

Your correct, the PSU do not line up.

What has been done in the past, it is what is in the photo. You just made an adapter plate.

Be aware that only the Legacy graphics cards will work.

I have a Compaq dc7600 CMT.  If I load more than 3 MB of memory in the 4 slots, it only recongnizes 3328.  The bios sees 4 but when memory test jumps after 3328.  In windows, it said 3.24 MB.  Any suggestions?

    Hello:

This is quite normal and can only be changed if you have installed a system of exploitation 32 or 64-bit.

System memory gets reserved mainly for sharing memory video and other uses.

Only desktop with the will of chipset 965 or newer Windows based on the Intel 'see and use' all 4 GB of memory with a 64-bit operating system installed.

    The dc7600 has a 945 chipset.

And you want to leave the modules 4 x 1 GB in there for the memory works in DDR mode for better performance.

Or install 1 GB - 512 MB - 1 GB - 512 MB if you do not see the 3/4 GB of memory disappear.

  • CC 7100 cmt: questions upgrade ram cmt dc 7100 (please help)

    Hey all,.
There is history... or you can just go to the section "cut to the Chase" to the bottom of the post

    The long story...
my name is chris, and I'm trying to help a 14-year-old son, friends learn a lil more on his old pc.

his pc has a hand and is obviously outdated, I got a bunch of old carcasses of office and let him rumage anything that would contribute to his pc. We found a total of 3 GB of ram ddr400mhz which is just below its limit of 4 GB machines.

so I thought everything would go smoothly, it is certainly not my first ram upgrade, having built many of the old desktop computers it was inflict through, I consider myself pretty well informed on the pc and have renovated a lot of pc, same Freelancer my skills of mechanics and tokens for a lil extra cash on the side I have dealt with many a problem, repair and upgrade, since I took my first windows machine in 2000, before that I started with a commodore 64 and eventually got an apple iic when I was about 10 years old... anyway, what im getting here, is I USED to know my s#@t, but for some reason any It's evading me and google isn't offering anything on the subject.

We planned on him to update to sp3 after have modernized their equipment as much as we can, while at the same time educate him as much as I could about how the computer worked, how to open and how to treat the components inside, it was the first time, he had never looked inside his machine or any machine besides...

However, because of delays and the issue with the ram does not, I eventually send him home with the same stock set up, he brought to me.

    Cut to the Chase

The problem here is that for some reason when I install 1, 2 or 3 the cards of ram 1 GB the machine do not post and triggers a series of beeps system, so obviously something isn't jiving, and I can't put my finger on it.
I can use 1,2,3 or all 4 of his stock [256 MB ddr 400 mhz] ram cards and it will display and start with change messages memory clear system, however, when you use less than four of its ram slots, a message is launched upward during post, stating something to the effect of all the slots must contain the same amount of ram

We are working on PC is a:
    HP DC 7100 CMT
    Windows XP SP2

    current installed RAM is [256 MB ddr 400 mhz] x 4 = a total of 1 GB

    tried to upgrade RAM parts:
    Ballistix [1 GB ddr 400 mhz] x 2 = a 2 GB total

    more

Memory Dell [1 gb ddr] (mhz are not)

I thought it was probably a bios thing and was about to investigate, but we ran out of time, now I'm tender hand to this community in the hope that someone here can indicate what it is I'm obviosly dominant, I really want to get his machine is upgraded because it is expessing a lot of interest in Unity3D , and scripts, ANDS I'd like see hiw cultivate these skills and I can't buy a machine, and he cannot afford a new machine, so the upgrade of its rigging with these old quarters would be the most ideal situations for him, if we cannot find out we will simply create a new rig out of my 'old' , but the 3.0 ghz core dou in his dc 7100 cmt processor is probably better than any of the alternatives in my attic... so yes this is my dilemma and I hope that some here is kind enough to point me in the right direction

    Thank you and best regards,
    Chris

    Hello:

You must have the total amount of memory in slots 1 and 3 are the same, and the same quantity in slots 2 and 4.

The PC will not work if you put 1 GB in slot 1, 1 GB in slot 2 and 1 GB in the Groove 3 because you're short 1 GB in the empty slot 4 and just short of 1 GB in slot 4 = 5 beeps.

Then... If you do not have 4 x 1 GB then use 1 GB in slots 1 and 3 and 256 MB in slots 2 and 4.

See the table below on page 16 memory configuration.
