Convert CSV

Hello.

When in numbers I export in CSV it make a file with ";"instead of ", Problem is that I can't import it into the system that I use, so two questions:

1. is there a way to separate as numbers ","?

2. If I have a laptop with a block of text, include commas in the text, how this CSV file will handle this?

Thank you very much

Luiz

I think the easiest is to go to system preferences > language and region, a region that uses, instead of;  for example "United States".  After doing that you must close all documents of numbers, quit and relaunch.  Then export them.  Verify that the export, separators you want and then switch back to your region and raise the numbers again to resume your normal work.

Numbers knows to wrap the text in "" when it is in the text.

    In my work, I typset stationery such as business cards, letterhead, notecards, etc. I also typset brochures, posters, postcards, etc. Currently, I create a 'template' for each component file and have orders to fellow employees with information that I then manually paste in the appropriate models. I'm sure there's an easier way to do it there where she is more "automatic". Currently, I use a combination of InDesign and Illustrator. Any help would be appreciated!

    In InDesign, you can use data merge.

    In Illustrator, it is not that simple. Variables would be basically possible, but it will be a major pain to export exactly the kind of XML who wish to Illustrator.

  • Importing XML that contains more than 1 sheet

    Hi all
    I'm working on a book that will contain 100 chapters, each chapter contained in a double spread page, that's why the book will contain 200 pages.  My book is currently contained in an excel spreadsheet and my idea is to convert it to a CSV file, then to an XML file, allowing me to import in a paper previously prepared containing 100 chapters, each containing the same xml tags and accompanying character or paragraph style.
    I was so hoping that import the xml file would flow into its respective tags and have then each chapter filled accordingly.

    To test this concept, I tasted a simple worksheet with two rows of information, each representing a chapter.  The resultant csv and xml, I could import my chapter 2 InDesign document, but only one of the chapters is populated.  So I'm pretty sure I did something wrong but don't know where in the process I was wrong.

    That's what I did (ties are screenshots of my source spreadsheet, xml and indesign import chapter);
    (1) install a document with a registered master page, the master page is the chapter format.
    (2) xml tags added to the document, as well as the hierarchical structure of the element,
    (3) assigned the XML tags to its space reserved to the respective text/graphics in the master page frame, however do not tag the tags 'root' or 'topic' since these are not holders of text.
    (4) paragraph and character styles assigned to each xml tag. Then re-recorded the new page master xml-tabs.
    5) added another chapter (using my tab master xml)
    (6) saved the document.
    (7) then imported the XML file (ssheet convert csv and XML) in my document and the first chapter is filled with the correct information and no police etc., the second chapter.

    As Im new in InDesign and XML, I suspect that I've set up correctly.  Does anyone know where I am wrong, or if not, is there another way more effective to achieve (John Hawkinson has suggested that it would be more appropriate "Data fusion").
    Thanks in advance

    L

    PS. Site is not allowing me to upload images at the mo. Once able to download.

    Yes, I think you should use the fusion of data (with the CSV file) and forget XML.

    You will still need replace the newline characters, but you already know how to do this.

  • How to export or convert my Vcard in a file of csv type?

    Does anyone know how to convert Vcard files on my mac in contacts cvs files? I need an entry in a CRM program, and this program takes the CSV files.

    There is an Automator Action to create a file delimited by tabs that you can then use a text editor to convert the tabs for commas, or use a spreadsheet to then export to CSV.

    Create a new workflow in Automator.

    Drag an action to get items for selected Contacts (Contacts library) in the pane. Set it to people.

    Drag into an action to obtain Contact information and set its export spreadsheet (tabs) format.

    Check the fields you want to export.

    Drag an action new TextEdit Document (Text Library).

    Open Contacts, and then select all the people you want to export.

    Back to Automator and click the run button.

    A new file should open with all info contact divided into tabs.

    You can save the file and open in a spreadsheet for export or make manual changes as described below.

    Use find and replace to replace tabs by commas. Click on the telescope in the search field and select Insert pattern, then select the tab

    Click all to replace tabs by commas.

    If you have any info contact with a comma in one of the fields, not start replace commas with something like . Cross file find these references and frame the value of any field of double quotes. Replace the with a comma.

    Save the file and import it in your other program.

    Note that if you open the file delimited by tabs in a spreadsheet and then export to csv, he cites the fields that have commas automatically (or at least it should).

    Convert .xls in .csv file using pl/sql

    I know that it s a long time but just wanted to know if there is a way to convert excel .csv.

    I have a directory say 'F:\purple_top\ '. I'll get the .xls file in this directory. I need to change to .csv and tables load external oracle. Any ideas or advance coding on it since 2009 so far?

    A few other options might be:

    • Java code, which can be used from within Oracle, which makes use of utility libraries (e.g. Aspose.Cells) open source (for example Apache POI) or "save under" CSV, or read the source cells and their output to a CSV file.
    • COM Automation, using available open source (for example, JACOB or j-interop) or commercial libraries, which can automate Excel to open a XLS file and "Save as" a CSV file. In addition, Oracle has a feature of COM Automation (available since version 8 but abandoned after Oracle 11g). I have successfully used this read (non-macro-enabled) Excel files in PL/SQL.
    • Other approaches using Perl or PHP can be found by googling 'convert xls to csv.

  • Convert a CSV column value before loading

    Hello

    I have a timestamp value in the CSV file as 23/10/2013-02:26

    I load the CSV into a table with the column DATE data type.

    I'm new to APEX and am not sure how to set up the Transformation rules.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you.

    You're silently casting a string to a number (and not a date).

    Try this:

    declare
      l_input_from_csv varchar2(20) := '9/4/2013 1:54:23 AM';
      l_date date;
    begin
      l_date := to_date( l_input_from_csv, 'MM/DD/YYYY HH12:MI:SS AM');
      return l_date;
    end;

    HOWEVER - I think that APEX will convert the date data type return type string data (which is not what you want).

    Assuming you are using the data loader in your application:

    The first page/step of the application process for the separator file, etc.

    The second page/step asks you to assign the column in the TABLE to CSV column (*.)

    --including any "special formatting" that must take place.

    -It's on THIS page you will add to the FORMAT string appropriate to the appropriate text box. (empty the area below the drop-down list)

    -based on my experience, APEX will run the command to_date() using this "format string" you.

    The third page/step is a verification step

    The 4th page/step shows you what has been done.

  • Re: Convert a single column string into lines (CSV)

    Hi all

    I would be grateful for the help here... I don't know it's easy for many, but the research I've done seem to ask for function that do not work in the comic book I'm in.: 10.2.0.5.0

    Query is:

    SELECT '348419,348420,348421' from DUAL;

    Hold out to be:

    Select of tb1; *
    output:
    348419
    348420
    348421

    Of more if you only need the values of o/p in the next line, rather than dealing with each value as separate line, Chr (10) can be used.
    If you paste this o/p in excel(.csv/.xls format) each value will be in separate lines and the same technique is very useful for statement of purpose.

    with a1 as (SELECT '348419,348420,348421' DOUBLE dat)
    Select replace (dat, ',', chr (10)) in a1;
