  I'd be willing to bet that the printer was referring to flat screens and not the halftone when he suggested 100K + 40 c. Two tones including C will mount a Cyan - the amount of distribution determined by the form d/max and the Cyan curve.

Change in the volume of minor local ink on the press can give you all sorts of variations in dominant color according to the tonal balance of separate plates (channels).

  Unless you can talk to the lithographer, for more security, you pay for half-tone b & w systematic reproduction. It seems safer, even if it is disappointing.

  When you import a bitmap into flash, it's a bitmap in flash.  That is to say, no need for conversion.
