converted in adapter network lost 2 Server esxi Server

I have a couple of servers that were on esxi 3.5. I had to convert them to vmware server 2 and now the network cards are gone. In devices, under map network, connected to the network bridged on server is grayed out. I tried to remove and re-add the adapter as well as for changing of bridged to the host.

You need to resolve dependencies as tools needs to be recompiled. The kernel-source (headers) and gcc are required.

There is a print server in the printer, but it's probably only for the RJ45. I mean that it won't work with a usb wireless adapter because there is nothing to assign an IP address. The only option is a wireless print server.

  • Adapter network ejected in partnership, have now no interwebs

    Hello

I was wondering if anyone can help - I'm rather uncomfortable in the Mac world, but not in Windows!

My partner says eject 'something' from the XP systems tray.  Since that time XP in Fusion (2.0.2) has no internet access.  When I go to Fusion > settings > network it just says: 'None', and there is no apparent way to add a new network configuration.

So I guess I have to solve this problem as soon the end XP (assuming that what she threw is an adapter network or something similar) but have no idea whatsoever how to on this subject.  Would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Failed to add a network adapter to a computer virtual if it is running or paused.  So stop, not hang in the guest OS (example Windows XP: start > turn off computer > Turn Off) set up the parameters for the target of the Virtual Machine and then add the network adapter.

We have production server, which is Dell PowerEdge 1800 with Windows SBS 2003 with 3 hard drives in RAID. And then, we want to make this server as VMware Esxi 4 with the same Windows 2003 SBS server. We will replace the 3 new hard disks, but new readers are not the same as the old disks. What is the right next step? Because it comes to the production server, we cannot lose all data.

    1. use VMWare vCenter Converter to convert the current Windows 2003 SBS to VMWare workstation

    2. Replace with 3 new hard drives and install VMWare EsXi 4 CD

3 use VMWare vCenter Converter to load WMWare workstation image into the new server Esxi 4.

  • Lost touch with ESXi v4 Server

One of my software engineers wanted to try joining two an ESXi v4 host network adapters. Unfortunately the vSwitch in which he held was the one that contains the VMKernel port.

The host was installed by using the free ESXi installation, so I'm assuming that RCLI cannot be used to solve the problem. Is there a way I fix this situation, which does not require everything be reinstalled?

    Hello

I don't know, but maybe you can fix it by going through the console.

If I'm not mistaken, I think that when you do maps NETWORK grouping, in Console\Configure Management Network\Network adapter the cluster NIC would be checked, if you can a few unchecked and set the parameter for the IP (if necessary), then restart the management network.

If I'm missing something; Please correct me, thank you.

  • Can how fast I get a virtual network adapter on a computer server VMware vmware tools installed w/o?

I use a custom Linux VM on a Linux VMware Server host. That my Linux VM is on measurement, I don't want to install VMware tools on my virtual machine. My question is without VMware tools installed on my virtual machine, is it possible for my virtual machine to connect at gigabit speeds. My server host has a gigabit network connection.

without vmware-tools, make sure you that you use the E1000 nic in the comments and not the obsolete AMD

Check with the vmx file and make sure that you have

  • Adding a new NETWORK adapter to the ESX Server

I have an ESX 3.5 server that has two NIC onboard.  I decided that I will join the ESX Server to the SAN, so I need these two NICS for iSCSI.  I'm going to install a NETWORK card in the PCI - X slot.  Unfortunately, without GUI, I'm confused as to how it will work.  Can someone give me some advice on how to add a new NETWORK card?  I checked esxcfg and I don't know if that's what I'm trying to use.  Any help would greatly be appreciated.

In the VI client, you should be able to go on the tab network management under configuration see the NIC it to add them to the correct vSwitch.

  • Grouping of NETWORK cards causing the ESXi to retransmit ethernet frames received.

I had an HP Proliant DL380 G5 ESXi 5.1.0 connected to a Cisco 3750 Switch stack.

All by performing a tcpdump on a host without a report, I discovered that he was under the bombardment with ethernet frames for the MAC address of a computer virtual located on a host across the data center. After a few brief troubleshooting, I discovered that I was able to stop those erroneous frames by disabling NETWORK adapters on my VMWare host group.

I believe that in my situation when ESXi is configured to use two network cards to all frames received on vmnic0 and retransmits them on vmnic1 and vice-vesa. I experienced these symptoms when ESXi is configured for failover with an active adapter and adapter mode standby and I also experienced the same symptoms in the following load balancing configuration.

Symptoms: some time after activating the load balancing, all frames Ethernet for the MAC address of a virtual computer on the affected host are broadcast on each switch port in the entire data center.

    Steps to reproduce:
    (1) implementation below configuration.
    (2) unplug the ethernet cable connecting vmnic1 and switch1 port gi2/0/4
    (3) run the host 1.1.1.1 EI - n - q tcpdump on any machine physics linux in the data center (don't even have to be connected directly to 1).
Confirm there is no packet seen with the IP address of 1.1.1.1 destination
    (4) plug the cable between vmnic1 and switch1 gi2/0/4 port ethernet
    (5) wait 60 to 120 seconds
    (6) watch a burst of frames ethernet with the destination MAC address of the VM (which owns 1.1.1.1) in the output of tcpdump

    Cisco Configuration:

    hostname switch1
    !
    src-dst-ip port-channel load-balance

    !

    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/4

    Description vmnic0.host0 (NIC 1)

I apologize for the delay in my response.

Unplug physically 2 cable NETWORK card on the host and configuration mirrored port on the switchport to 1 NETWORK adapter of the host, I have been able to confirm that the host VMWare issues guides on NIC1 with a destination MAC address of one of its own VM.

After carefully reviewing the captured data, I noticed that the destination frames wrong "02:bf:cb:50:a2:76" MAC address actually belonged to "Local Area Connection 1' one of my Windows 2003 Server WHAT VM installed on the suspected host.

Dig a little deeper, I discovered that this virtual NETWORK card is presented to the operating system as
    Name: Local 1 network connection
"Type: VMware Accelerated AMD PCNet adapt."
    MAC: 02-BF-CB-50-A2-76

But the configuration of the virtual machine in vCentre is
    Name: Network adapter 1
    Type: Flexible
    MAC: 00: 0C: 29:fa:e8:83

    Note the different MAC addresses.

Digging a little further I discovered that Windows 2003 server has configured on "Local 1 network connection" network load balancing and NLB is the cause of the altered MAC address.

Rather than to investigate further I have just placed a load balancer linux before the server windows 2003 cluster and that you turn off NLB.

But I suspect that there is still a fundamental problem in the Virtual Switch VMware with how he learns the MAC addresses of the virtual machine is using flexible vNIC. In particular, with a virtual machine that uses a form to override the MAC address such as that used by NLB.

  • Network/raid performance on ESXi 5

I'm a newbie VMWare test performance using 5 ESXi (free) to see if VMWare will be a satisfactory solution.  The thin hypervisor runs on a years 4u Dell with Xeons @2.66 8, 32 G ram, ethernet ports 4 gigabit ports (currently connected to ports on a cisco switch - they don't have to share their bandwidth with other machines) and 4 drives in RAID5 (450 GB).  I have 4 CentOS5 virtual machines running at the same time and I'm trying to measure the bandwidth of file transfers.  Each of the virtual machines VMware tools installed and use the 3 VMXNET network adapter.  The VMs and VMkernel are currently attached to a vswitch that is connected to an etherchannel (hash IP) two of the gig ethernet ports.  The main questions are:

    • establishing an ssh connection to a virtual computer takes about 15 + / 4 seconds of "Do you want to trust in this regard" at the password prompt

    • file transfer (scp) between the two machines is consistently 11.5 + / 1 MB/s.  This is true for the transfer of files between the virtual machines hosted on this box or any of the virtual machines and any other device on the subnet.

    Any other relevant information:

    • pings between two virtual machines: first ping about 1.4 ms and all the 0.4 Ms
    • pings between VM and another server: first ping about 2 ms and every 1 ms
    • Each virtual machine and the vmkernel use DHCP
    • There no lag once sshed in a virtual machine
    • The data store is about 1/4 full.
    • All virtual machines are thinly provisioned.
    • execution of SSH on Port IP VMkernel is instantaneous from other servers and takes about 2 seconds of a virtual machine.
    • In addition to my manual tests, there is no other traffic on the network and CPU usage and disk are minimal
    • a scp pushing a file to the virtual machine to the VMkernel quickly established, but a scp a file from the VM to the VMkernel traction expires entirely
    • While scping a single file between two virtual machines, the CPU usage goes to 75% on one heart.  All other seem unchanged.
    • hdparm - Tt/dev/sda tells me that my maximum reading speed on the RAID5 array is around 200 MB/s.  Even including the overhead associated with reading blocks and then write them on the same unit, the drive speed is probably not the bottleneck for the speeds of the scp.
    • However, cping a single large in a virtual machine file goes to about 30 MB/s - considerably less than 50% of the response of hdparm (what I was waiting for the operating system to completely load the file into RAM, wait a seektime, then réécrirait in a contiguous block), but still well above the reported by scp transfer speed.

    Thoughts:

11.5 Mbps is strangely close to 100 Mbps - is there an artificial constraint on the free version of ESXi do max on all network connections to 100 Mbps?

If the transfer is limited by the CPU, which seems ridiculous.  A single 2.66 Xeon is barely able to administer a file transfer of 12 MB/s via the ssl Protocol?

Resources or ideas are welcome.  Thank you, all.

    Good job digging around.

    Number of things (IMO):

-File copy tests should not be used to test the performance of the storage subsystem.  Launch Windows 2003/2008 1-2 VMs and get IOMeter running.  It is a sure way to put crab on your drives.  The problem with the copy of file is that there is a lot of overhead involved (CIFS, TCP/IP, file systems), IOmeter bypasses all this (except the file system) and gives you a gross rate.  Your hdparm is a good indication of good performance.

-scp uses a lot of CPU, it's a way slow (but safe & convenient) to transfer files.

-You look good pings, ARP can take 500-1500 ms to make a difference

-Re: your slow ssh connections, try disabling DNS lookups that are reversed in your/etc/ssh/sshd_config (')UseDNS no')
