Copy a folder of bookmarks/favorites of old installon
I had a damaged computer Win 8. I thought that I had identified the favorites/bookmarks folder.
(places.sqlite) copied to a disc of stick.
I copied this file in my new (now Win7) operating system. Foxfire files, but it didn't work. Actually removed some bookmarkes 36 new that I had already done. Last updated restoration has failed.
Another site suggested that I backup Favorites (on my stick drive) on my backup computer. This is more than a year, but that doesn't work anymore. The backup file was named bookmarks-2004-02-13json.
This came from a different computer on Windows 7.
So I was able to save, but I can't find a way to restore it to this computer. What gives?
TIA
To restore the json file go to Favorites > > show all bookmarks > > import and backup > > food > > Choose file , then select the json file.
You can also use the SQLite Manager manager files sqlites:

I tried to replace the contents of the old profile folder to the new folder and I also tried to simply replace the urlclassifier3.sqlite file, but that does not work either.
Googling didn't help me in the last 24 hours, but surely there must be a way to do it-right?
Thank you very much
AnthonyYes, there is a way to restore your bookmarks from your old laptop to the new. Note that profiles just replace the contents of the old folder will not work because your profiles.ini file contains a different profile name.

My problem with Firefox/WMC is related to a user account. So I've set up a new user account, and I can access in Firefox. I wish I could import my bookmarks/favorites Firefox associated with my old user account to my new user account. The instructions I've seen all say to go to the old account from Firefox, but I can't get in. Is there a way to access my old favorites/bookmarks and transfer them to Firefox on my new user account?
There are two, the Profile Manager and the profile folder that the data is stored in. (if you refresh at any time, that data will be in a folder on the desktop called "Old data from Firefox")
- Backup and restore Firefox profiles information
- Use the Profile Manager to create and delete profiles Firefox
- Profiles - where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data
Open the folder of a new profile and copy the files from the old to crush are a messy hack as well.

I want to copy a folder to an external hard drive with the file already on it and not having to replace all the files each time. I just want to click and drag the folder to the external hard drive and have it add new files I've added in the folder on my pc over time on the external hard drive. It's annoying to have to replace alllll the files each time.
Thank you!

New folder: "All bookmarks" appeared. Cannot get rid of
It contains a live copy of all my favorites. Inside, there is another folder "All bookmarks" and another and another.
What is it? How can I get rid of him? I'm afraid that if I delete it, all my favorites will disappear.
I can't move it like I can other bookmarks. If you delete the places.sqlite files then you don't end up with bookmarks in bookmarks.html file and Firefox will automatically import bookmarks.

Safari 9.1.1. : I was a change in editing very simple bookmark to bookmark files - by changing the order of the folders so a folder was closer to the top of the list because of its importance for me. Received an error message that says could not do it because the favorites were the synchronization, please try again in a few minutes. WAITED 5 minutes and moved the folder closer to the top of the list. However, when I opened that folder of bookmarks, the bookmarks disappeared. It happened after the synchronization message. What is causing this glitch and do for restore missing bookmarks
You can only restore the entire file of bookmarks to a previous state. It is not possible to restore the individual bookmarks.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select, then copy it to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination:
~/Library/Safari
Quit Safari.
Select
Go ▹ go to folder
in the Finder menu bar. Paste it into the text box that opens by pressing Command + V, then press return.
Should open a folder window. Restore the file named "Bookmarks.plist" in this folder from a previous backup of the changes unwanted.
If you don't have such a backup, but the Favorites are still present on an iOS (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) device that synchronizes with iCloud, then see below.
Save your iOS devices. Turn off sync iCloud Safari on all devices except those. Quit Safari and delete the bookmarks on the Mac, and then enable synchronization Safari on it. Launch Safari. Bookmarks must synchronize icloud.

Why can't I drag a file from the desktop to the folder of bookmarks?
I am trying to sort my bookmark folders in El Capitan, so I drag the folder on the bookmarks file (after the edition of bookmarks in Safari) on the desktop, open it on the desktop and the sort. When I try to drag it to the folder of bookmarks in Safari, the file returns to the desktop. I tried using the side bar and the window, using option, command, control, fn and SHIFT while dragging, and nothing works. When I output folder, it returns to the desktop. To work around, I create a new folder in bookmarks, rename it, and then copy the bookmarks to the new folder. Looks like I used to be able to just drag the folder to the Favorites folder.
All solutions? I have something on or off prevents him record a fall in place?
When you drag a folder of bookmarks in Safari Bookmarks.plist location on your desktop, folder and its content is converted to different formats that Safari has no way to convert in the original structure of Bookmarks.plist.

Old installation of Windows and where winning FF stopped working. Have reinstalled on the new drive win and FF and import bookmarks from the old install on the old disk. The files are always accessible. None of the listed options explain another FF FF import that create a new profile that will not work in this case.
Just as a reference, when you explore your old hard drive, will seek you:
E:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
(the drive letter may vary)
If Windows hides the AppData folder on the old disk, you can disable hide files and folders: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files
Then you can get off and find the folder bookmarkbackups containing .jsonlz4 files.

I can't delete a more than 10 bookmarks at once, I can't delete the folder of bookmarks
25, 10.8 Mac Firefox
If I try to remove more than 10 bookmarks at one point or a folder with bookmarks in it, FF hangs, then says that there is a script that is not running correctly & do I want to continue or to stop the script - I tried to continue but it just crashes again and I tried to stop the script but it still hangs...
I restarted FF, turned off sync, enabled synchronization.
I tried to export my favorites to HTML, change in a file then the re - import, but the file is incomplete - it contains all the folder in my favorites.
Deletion of bookmarks is a pain since Sync was introduced and Firefox isn't an app official iOS and the 3rd party does not always work, so I don't get a lot of use of syncThis also happens if you temporarily disable the synchronization?
Problems with bookmarks and history does not properly can be caused by a corrupted database places.sqlite file.
You can check for problems with the database places.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

I have a set of pages to a bookmark that I want to keep completely private, which means that no one should be able to find them inadvertently. I disabled everything that would make these pages pop up if someone starts typing in the address bar, and history of tracking is disabled. The ultimate solution would be to have these bookmarks saved in a separate place from the other favorites, a place where only I would never think to pick them up. And no, these bookmarks are in no way illegal, criminal or something similar (where everyone thought it). I just want to protect my private life, and more family and friends began to use my computer.
Sorry, Mozilla has nothing like this for Firefox bookmarks, and I've never seen an extension that adds a feature like this to Firefox.
Firefox has the ability to have several user profiles, within each logon user account. And each LUA automatically has its ' own unique profile.
https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/profiles-where-Firefox-stores-user-dataMore - Windows has user accounts to logon to privacy such as protection. Each user account has a separate user data storage space.
Personally, I'd worry more "other" access my passwords using my web browser, rather than restrict access to a folder of bookmarks.
