  • How to create a template in a sub-folder?

I have the following folder hierarchy

    Templates

    -Project1Templates

I posted yesterday how to get a model of a sub-folder in my cluster and got a correct answer. I used this response to try to 'write' a model in the folder above heriarchy. I tried

    $toFolder = get-file-name Templates | Get-file-name Project1Templates

    New model - VM $fromVM - name $newTemplate - location $toFolder - Datastore $ds - VMHost-$host - DiskStorageFormat thin

I check all my settings and they are correct. I get

New-model: all parameters can be solved by using the specified named parameter
    very.
    C:\MyPath\CloneVMToTemplate.ps1:39 char: 13
    + New-model < < < < - VM $fromVM - name $template - location $Templates - DiskStor

    ndingException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId: AmbiguousParameterSet, VMware.VimAutomation.ViCor
    e.Cmdlets.Commands.NewTemplate

What I meant is that a cmdlet can have different parametersets.

Each parameterset has some distinctive settings. In this case the VM parameter comes from the parameterset I scored as 1, whereas DiskStorageFormat is parameterset I scored as 2.

You can not distinctive settings of different parametersets in 1 call to the cmdlet.

  • How to create a desktop for Sky broadband shortcuts in Windows 7

I created 3 user profiles on my laptop (me, wife and children) and want to have a shortcut on the desktop to Sky broadband on each. The only problem is that it will allow me to have a shortcut on my profile (primary profile). can anyone help please?

You have a router on your home network?  In my opinion, you're netter with a router and allowing it to establish the broadband connection with the modem, rather than allowing your PC to do.  Your PC can be online all the time unless you need a connection for each user.

  • Right-click on the program icon to create the desktop shortcut - nothing happens?

I right click on any program icon to create a shortcut on the desktop and nothing happens. It is as if he has forgotten what to do when you right-click. How can I fix it

    Hi Yoliray,

    • Since when are you facing this problem?
    • You did changes to the computer before this problem started?

However, you can start the computer in safe mode and check if you can create a shortcut on the desktop in safe mode and after return the result. To boot to the desktop in safe mode keep tapping key F8 during restart. Once you see the option to start in safe mode select and press to enter.

If you can not create a shortcut in your user account, you can start again in safe mode and try to access the built in Administrator account and try to create a shortcut in the administrator account and check if it creates and post back the result.

You can also try to re - register the i the shell32.dll file and check if it helps to create the shortcut. To re-record the file, follow the steps below:

    a. Click Start and click Run.
    b. in the run box, type the command regsvr32 /i shell32.dll and click Ok.

Restart the computer and check if that helps.

I hope this helps. Let us know the result.

    Thank you and best regards,

  • Create a desktop shortcut to a drive

I have a floppy that connects to the PC by USB, with a shortcut on the desktop that gave me a quick access to the contents of the disc. A few days when it is started, the icon disappeared, I have no idea why, but I thought I had a way to get it back. I went to "Devices and printers" in the Control Panel, click right on the image of the disk and choose "create shortcut in the drop-down menu that is displayed. The icon appeared and I put it in the space formerly occupied by the missing icon. But when I clicked on the icon, it shows the 'Properties' window and not the files on the floppy drive. I also discovered, when I got to the top of the Windows Explorer, right click on the player 'A' did NOT offer me a way to create the icon I used. Review of 'properties' to the floppy disk icon display, I found that the target of the icon is the display of "Devices and Printers" Control Panel.

    Two questions:

    (1) what does the diskette icon disappear first place?

    (2) how can I get the icon that shows the files on the diskette when I click it?

Thanks for the replies. I have fund the response to the creation of icons for readers with old friend GOOGLE.

It turns out that all I have to do is click on the drive letter in Windows Explorer, look at the little icon in the bar of address and then drag it to the office.

  • How to make a desktop shortcut for outlook express, when click right does not work as it does normally make a shortcut. Thank you!

    I have vista home premium

Right-click on an empty part of the desktop and click New and then click on shortcut and follow the prompts to create a shortcut you want.

If it does not, locate the executable file of the program itself (probably somewhere in C:\Program Files and probably not that hard to find) and right click on this file and click on create a shortcut (desktop).

If this does not work, go to start / / Desktop and click on the file menu and then click New and then click shortcut and follow the prompts to create a shortcut you want.

I don't know any of these methods will work.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

P.S. If Burr is right about OE, you say you have Vista Home Premium and the above procedures should work with any version of Vista and quite well with just about any program file (even if only good program files will actually open programs rather than do nothing or do something completely different and perhaps unwanted).  No matter if you mixed up the name, or somehow found a way to install OE on Vista - procedures to create shortcuts should work (or at least one of them should).

  • Create a desktop shortcut to open the (subway) start?

I want to make a shortcut on the desktop to open the subway (Start Menu). I know there are ways to make desktop for metro applications shortcuts, but I wan to make a shortcut that I can put on my desk that actually opens the metro as if I had moved the mouse to the lower left corner of the screen and opened it from there? There must be a way?

1 create a text file and name it start.vbs
    2. edit the file and paste the following code
    Set objShell = CreateObject ("WScript.Shell")
    objShell.SendKeys ' ^ {ESC}.

    3. save the file on your C drive and create a shortcut and put the shortcut on your desktop.
    4. right click on the shortcut and change the icon to something you want, or you can create a custom icon, I did it by finding a windows logo on the web 8 and taking a snip of it.

    5. put newly create a shortcut on the lower left corner of your screen and now you have an icon to get to the start screen, bypassing the hover bottom left corner.

  • Create the desktop shortcut in windows 8 for "windows update".

I want to check my windows to update often, but I can't make a shortcut to access.  I know how to do, but it is not okay. I go to it and I right click to pin to one of the two places the task bar or the menu 'Start' which I do not know if this is more, but that is besides the point. For other things I can create a shortcut, and I'm sure I used to have one before I had to re install the computer. When I right click on it nothing appears at all.

    Do this way:

1 - Press Windows + X to display the context menu

2 - go to control panel

3 - go to the system section

4 click-and - drag the Windows Update icon out on your desk and it lay

  • How to create a keyboard shortcut?

I know it is a fundamental issue, but couldn't find it under assistance of InDesign. I appreciate any help I can get. Thank you!

Edit-> keyboard shortcuts. The default set is not editable, but as soon as you change a setting shortcut and trying to get out, ID prompts you to save the game under a new name. Your new shortcuts will be added to the last one active; do not define everything from zero.

The "area of the product' lists all the individual and some menus more and it can be a real pain to find what you need - there is no search button! But if you press the button 'Show Set', ID will create a text document and open it in your default text editor, so you can browse and search with you. Then find category of this element in the area of the product, and the item itself appears in the list below. Select the item; Click once in the new shortcut field and press the new shortcut key (if necessary, accompanied by the Ctrl, shift, Alt, Option, or command). If you are satisfied, click "assign". The list of context allows you to use the same shortcut in different, uh, contexts (in paintings, texts, a little more).

A known issue (and I would call it a bug) that your custom set of keys can occasionally turns, returning to the game by default. This can happen, for example, after an accident of ID or an update (!). Just check the new shortcuts for dialog, then select your new game when necessary.

  • With regard to creating a desktop shortcut to a Web site. When I drag and drop the icon on the desktop, and then click to open, I get a box 'print' on the site.

When I double click on the Firefox icon, it brings me to the "print area". What is the problem and how can it be solved?
    Thanks, Jeff

Thanks for your suggestion. II ended up adding an element of the registry which fixed the problem.
