Copy on a DVD-r - unrecognized disc

I have files ready to copy onto a DVD, but the drive is not recognized.  It is complete or not accessible in writing and sometimes it does not acknowlidge there is a disc in the tray

Except for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005...
Windows XP doesn't natively burn DVDs... you need third party software.

The following freeware might be worth a try:

  • Re: Satellite C660D-102 - how to copy Windows on DVD?

Hello people. I bought a new Toshiba Satellite C660D-102.

The seller told me to copy Windows on DVD soon to open the laptop. Don't know where to take the Windows installation files. You have encountered this problem? How can I solve this problem.

    Hey,.

I think that the seller meant to create the Toshiba recovery disc that contains a picture of the factory settings. In the case where you can start t more Windows or the drive HARD must be replaced, you can use this disk to restore Windows with all the drivers and tools. With other words, you get factory settings back, the same settings as you bought the laptop so it of very useful and easy.

You can create this disk if you start creative media recovery Toshiba which is preinstalled on your computer. According to the installation, you need certain blank DVD media. I recommend high-quality mediums, type: DVD-R from Verbatim or TDK. They work well and others here can recommend them also.

Last but not least, you should also read your user manual. It contains interesting information on this subject and other interesting things. It s also preinstalled on your laptop. :)

But it s really great, the seller gave you an indication in this regard. If you check the other forum discussions you will read a lot others that they forget to create this disc and are not able to restore the factory settings if Windows could not start.

First... just a suggestion... using a slow burn speed
    produces a more reliable copy.

If you have software installed Nero should have
    an option for copying DVDs.

Also, the following method can be your answer...

The following freeware can create an ISO Image

  • Cannot copy images from any type of disc. ??

Cannot copy pictures on any type of disc. the computer behaves as if she is unable to format the drive? I thought that this was done automatically.

    Hello

    ·        What is the exact error that you are experiencing when you try to burn the disk?

    ·        Outside photos, you are able to burn other files on the disk?

    ·        You use any burning software to burn the photos to disk?

Note: Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

I suggest to format the drive and check if you are able to burn discs or not. Follow the steps mentioned below.

    a. be aware that Windows XP, in its native form, does not directly support CD formatting. Formatting a CD requires support for the ISO images that is missing from Windows XP.

    b. download or buy CD and formatting of third-party burning software. Third-party CD utilities include features like CD burning, imaging of CD and the CD put fit.

    c. install the third-party software, following specific instructions in accordance with the software documentation. Many programs will require you to restart Windows to complete the installation. Close all other applications and do it.

    d. place the disk you want to format in the drawer. Make sure that it is in the drawer of CD - R or CD - R/W and not another tray (tray of DVD) or a simple CD player.

    e. start the third-party application and follow the instructions on the screen as they appear. Choose the "Format CD" option on the file menu, or choose 'Create a new CD.' This application controls tend to vary an application to, so be sure to check the documentation.

    f. don't forget to leave the CD in the taskbar until the process is completely finished. If you remove the CD before the completion of the formatting, you will ruin the disc.

    g. give a volume name to your new CD.

I also suggest you to check the article mentioned below.

Should which CD or DVD format I use?

  • Error when you try to play a DVD: Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because the disc prohibits playback in your region of the world. You must obtain a disc that is intended for your geographic region.

    copy a group of photos w/music (Smilebox program) on dvd;

After following the instructions of SMilebox to burn "images set to music" on DVD, to the attempt of DVD playback, I got following error message: Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because the disc prohibits playback in your region of the world. You must obtain a disc that is intended for your geographic region.  We live in the Washington area. I didn't know that DC was considered an unusual geographic region?

    Hey nongeekbetty,

The DVD is encoded for a different region. Most DVD readers only works with DVDs that are coded for the computer was purchased in the same region. So if you buy a DVD in one country and then try to play on one computer from another country this DVD could not play.

    Step 1:

Make sure that the DVD region is set to the appropriate region:

    a. Click Start.

    (b) in the search box, type Device Manager.

    c. right-click on the DVD drive.

    d. right-click on it and select Properties.

    e. make sure that the region will be resolved.

    For your information:

    Step 2:

Also temporarily disable User Account Control (UAC) and check it out.

Note: Activate it once you are done with the check.

  • Copy an existing DVD and burn

I've been on a learning curve and has completed several projects, I learned recently how to archive a project so that I can return to it after that she was burned and able to burn another disc at a later date. However, I have a project that has been burned to a disc, and I have not the saved project so that I can go back to the archives and burn another disc.

Is my question there a way I can "copy" the existing drive so that I can burn it again to another blank DVD? Or do I have to re-create this project again? Thank you

PS, I did the project with Adobe 8 and still this program on my computer, however I have a new Adobe Photoshop and first 12 items, ready to download.
