Correction of the lens and Raw or JPEG

Please bear with me, I'm sometimes a little slow.

I just loaded JPEG one friend in ACR, to see if I could fix the distortion. The image has no EXIF. The list of lenses Nikon-fit was much shorter that usual - is that because it is a JPEG, rather than a raw file?

I was surprised that the 16-85mm lens was not in the list, as I know that it has been added to the point 6.2. After hunting for PCL files, I see that there is a RAW version only, so this fits in my guess. So, my next question is: why Adobe provides two profiles with a few drinks (raw + jpeg) and the other with others?

I gave up to the cab and loaded the JPEG in CS5. In the CS5 lens Corrections, I was allowed to assign a raw profile only to my JPEG. It is good, but why am I here and not in ACR?

And a smaller, but nevertheless niggling question and maybe a little off-topic, why optical Correction CS5 is offering "NIKON" and "NIKON CORPORATION" as a brand of camera, when others have only one entry?

Yammer P, yes the list is shorter because it's a jpeg rather than crude oil, and we have several profiles for raw to jpeg.

For all of the lenses supported in the initial release of CS5, we have created profiles for both first and jpeg. Since then, we have focused on profiles of lenses based on the crus, for various reasons (which is that we feel that we always deliver the best results of quality in this way). That of why you see some lenses supported with raw & jpeg profiles, but much more taken support with raw only.

Correction of the plugin CS5 lens indeed allow you to choose the lens focused on the raw profiles even if it treats a file made (for example, jpeg, tiff). This will work in some cases many (but not all) for the distortion correction, but often is malfunctioning for chromatic aberration and vignette correction. I do not recommend this workflow and is a key reason we don't let the users/layout in ACR and LR.

  • Correction of the lens and the camera in Camera Raw calibration

My copies of Camera Raw for Ps CC and the bridge are fully updated and web support documents say that my Olympus E5 is supported by these applications. When I try to activate profile of auto lens corrections in Camera Raw, I get the warning - "unable to automatically locate the lens profile correspondent." Worse still, the drop of decision-makers does not even include Olympus. All my images include EXIF information and all my lenses are produced current Olympus. I do not understand why none of such large manufacturer lenses are supported by Camera Raw when, an app like DxO Optics Pro has profiles for all my lenses.

Further, there is problem in Camera Raw with 'camera Calibration '. When editing. DNG. TIF and. JPEGs, the camera profile reads correctly 'embedded' for files from Olympus. However, when editing. Files of the ORF the camera profile reads "Adobe Standard" instead of "embedded".

Is there a solution for these problems? I can't find one on the Adobe Web site.

    Richard Sharp

    Not necessarily problems:

    1. Olympus camera photo/lens combinations have been corrected for distortion inside the camera in ACR for raw and jpeg.  In general, no profile outer lens correction is available.

    2. "embedded" means non-premieres loaded in ACR, usually jpeg images.  "Adobe Standard" is the base profile provided by Adobe, all supported raw formats.  Adobe will also seek to provide the matching profiles camera, that is "neutral", "portrait", etc., for the selected cameras.

  • Backup of the bridge and raw to jpeg conversion

Why can't I convert raw to jpeg in bridge (camera raw) and save to a different location from the original

    Yes of course you can.

In bridge select your images and then edit in camera raw.

Look in camera raw in the lower left of the camera raw dialog box and you will see a save as button.

This will allow you to save your raw jpg, tiff or png files.

  • Correction of the lens for Tamron 17-50 2.8 could be better?

17mm SANS correction profil objectif Tamron.pngThis is WITHOUT the lens profile correction.

17mm avec correction profil objectif Tamron.png... and that's WITH the lens profile correction. Not very obvious, isn't it?

Upper right corner of a photo taken with the Tamron 17-50 2.8 at 17mm 5.6.

The cut isn't right but a funny!

Most likely, the slope of the cut in the corner of the image is not created by the distortion of the lens, but the camera pointing down.

When the camera is not required to level but pointing upwards or downwards, the sensor is not in parallel with the vertical lines of the Cup. It is the phenomenon of "Scheimpflug" - google for this word and you will get many results. The phenomenon of "Scheimpflug" becomes stronger towards the edges of the image.

That's why the architecture photographers use "see photo" where you can adjust the angle of the plane of the film or digital sensor map so that it is parallel to the vertical lines of a building.

You can adjust the tilt of the cutting with the manual vertical slider in the Correction of the lens, and you may need to adjust the horizontal slider as well. The compromise is now, your image will be severely "trapezoidal" and it's probably not what you want.

But you can't blame the lens profile. Profile lens corrects only distortion of the lens, no distortion by the principle of "Scheimpflug.

PS: A tilt-shift lens will also correct the distortions of the principle "Scheimpflug.

  • Correction of the lens profile in Lightroom/Photoshop

I am fairly new to Lightroom and Photoshop, so forgive what may be very novice questions about the correction of the lens.  I've walked these tips to help, but you have not yet found information that solved the problem exactly.

I use Lightroom CC and CC of Photoshop (running on a Mac).  I use a Nikon D750 and the objective in question is a Nikkor 24-120 f/4 VRII.  For JPEG images in question, I had tile control off in camera in order to avoid double fixing the LR/PS issue (and really have been dissatisfied correction in camera).

Like many other people have asked about, I have some JPEG files that I want to apply the correction lens profile in LR, but none exist for that lens in JPEG.  I tried the steps that a lot of people have suggested in many forums (i.e., copy of the RAW profile which is located in the folder/Library/Application Support / Adobe / Camera Raw /..., to change all the "stCamera:CameraRawProfile ="True"' to 'False', then copy the file in the same folder and restart).  I tried to locate the new profile of lens using LR and Camera Raw in Photoshop.  I closed the program, restarted, but nothing seems to work.

Because it did not work, I got rid of the new lens profile I copied and went in Photoshop, using the "Correction of the lens" option in the "Filters" menu (but not in Camera Raw because it does not work).  In the filter, it recognizes the lens and allowed me to make the correction of "thumbnail".

    So my questions are:

    (1) is the method of copy/text change to adapt RAW lens profile does not work for LR CC or is there another text in the file LCP to be changed to make it work? Don't know what I'm doing wrong.
    (2) apart from the inefficiency of having re - import the Photoshop file to LR are all the problems to fix the way I did it using the lens correction filter in PS?  I couldn't find any discussion who suggested doing it this way, so it was not clear to me if there was a reason to not do it instead.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Could not load profile lenses looks like it would be a problem.  I wonder if your text editor removed line breaks or add or change the encoding to something different.  You could re-edit of true-false and see if things work better.  If I change a LCP on Windows I use instead of Wordpad Notepad because Notepad keeps the characters at end of line and encoding.

The text you see list of LR may not ProfileName it can be the name of the goal or nice name for a lens or something else.  You can change the description read by the man to have a different version: v2a. 2 b v, v 2 c, etc, then you can say that is actually used.

Or, if this description is replicated for each entry profile, then you might need to change not only one.

  • Correction of the lens to mount E

I use Lr 4.1.  I'm gross salary of a NEX-5 and NEX-7.  Under the Correction of the lens - lenses - e24, e50/1.8 profile / 1.8z and e18-200f/3.5-6.3 are not listed.  I assume that profiles for these lenses exist somewhere.  Anyone know where I can download profiles for these lenses, and tell me how to get them in Lr?

    Thank you

You will need to download and install the Downloader Adobe Lens profile of http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/lensprofile_creator.html the link will take you to a page that includes an application to create your own and another for download.  The downloader app give should give you access to all profiles that have been uploaded to the database. From what I see both lenses you mention are in the database, but correspond to raw files only.

How can I request a lens correction automatically when importing?

I use several cameras some of which I assume have no lens correction algorithms.  I guess that this approach will pass on these photos and apply the correction only to lenses with correction algorithms.

... I would like to apply the available corrections automatically during import.

    Thanks for your help

    Hi crbuckjr,

Using a preset to develop during the import

    • Go to develop on a Raw image
    • Open the Lens Correction Panel and check 'Enable Corrections profile', choose 'Default' in the field of the installation
    • Create a preset, uncheck all items except "Lens Corrections" and "Version Process."
    • When you import, specify this preset under 'settings to develop. "

Let me know if it helps.

  • correction of the lens with A7

    Hello

I received my a7 last week and I have a question.

For the correction of the goal, there are two possibilities: off or auto.  There is no confirmation that it works or not. The correction is active for the raw files?

Thanks in advence for any comment

Leave the parameters of compensation to [Auto] will ensure that images are corrected as required. The corrections are not applied to the RAW files.

  • How can I know if Lightroom should apply the correction of the lens when importing?

I recently imported two different sets of files raw on one week apart. The first series had lens profile correction enabled for each individual file (which would be selected by pressing the reset button), while the second set had corrections profile disabled lens (which would be not checked off by pressing the reset button). The only import setting I changed was select 'do not import suspected duplicates. Why is this different behavior? Is different based on the lenses? (first shooting with 16-50mm Sony PZ, second set taken with the 50mm 1.8 Sony).

Figured out, it has to do with the "lens distortion compensation" setting in the camera (NEX - 5 t) at the time that the photos have been taken, I think.

Automatic Correction of lens LR3.3 correctly identifies my lens Nikon NEF files, but cannot automatically identify and apply the correction to my iPhone4 JPG files. I can manually select brand/model/Profile for the iPhone4 and apply. Not a big deal, but: the user or design error? I import directly from the phone using LR import. Camera and the model appear in the EXIF data. THX

Probably by design. I remember well, the iPhone 4 does she not model metadata of EXIF camera which distinguishes it from the previous iPhone models (for example, brand = Apple, model = iPhone).
