Counterfeiting of Windows

I bought an HP computer.  After using it for several months, I had a motherboard failure.  I replaced the motherboard (same chip, but no HP motherboard).  All components have been reused, only the motherboard has been replaced.  It seemed to work fine for a few days, even updated without problem, but now I get messages that I have a counterfeit Windows copy.  I DON'T HAVE A COPY OF COUNTERFEIT WINDOWS!  What should I do now?  I run Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit.

If what you had was a version OEM of Windows 7 is installed, it is not transferable to another motherboard:

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

Im a victim of counterfeit software, having bought what I thought was a genuine copy of Windows 7 at a reasonable price and installed on a new laptop which had Vista as OS, recently if, after doing an update, I am now receiving messages saying: my version of windows is not legitimate, if I want to reinstall my very legit copy of XP Unfortunately, when I'm trying to do, I am told that I have a newer OS on my system if it cannot perform the reinstallation of XP, what should I uninstall in order to perform this operation? That is to say, to be able to reinstall Windows XP. Any help would be most appreciated, thank you.

Restart, and then you must boot from the XP CD (put the cd in, change the startup disk in the BIOS for the cd), press a button then follow whats on screen.

At each time it restarts, it will say press a key, leave it leaves finish. Otherwise he's going in circles, and you'll be here all night XP installation

  • Counterfeiting of Windows operating system

I got a built-in computer, with what I believe to be a fake Windows operating system, can I download the one I have on this subject? How can I fix it?

If you believe that you are using a pirated copy of Windows it is strongly recommended that you reinstall an authentic copy. Technically, yes you can install your old operating system. However, according to Microsoft, you may not use the copy you have on more than one computer. You can buy a new copy of Windows XP.

Instructions on reinstalling XP can be found here.

  • Virus MS "Victim of counterfeiting" message

I bought a Toshiba Satellite laptop about 18 months ago nine, a store of grand in Munich, I live in England.
It has a hologram MS Certificate of Authenticity on the back. It happens suddenly with messages saying: I'm a 'victim of counterfeiting"and Windows XP is not genuine.
I can't use the recovery CD ROM, because who will cancel patches I've been downloading from the Toshiba site to get the equipment working properly (DVD management, pilot of the screen and the power were the questions).

How to stop this annoying Virus MS?

    Hi Alex,

Normally, the operating system comes with a new laptop computer has an OEM license, which means you do not need to register the product with Microsoft. However, it is possible that the provided operating system is always false, so I recommend you to check that your system on the site of Microsoft validation on http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/default.mspx?displaylang=en

Interestingly, the OEM license allows the reseller to provide Windows XP in the national language of the country in which the laptop is sold, so that your system must be installed in German. If you have an English language installation, then it is quite possible that it is indeed counterfeit, and the Microsoft Genuine Advantage software will identify this situation.

    Good luck

Please let me know what I need to do or what I've done is correct.

I would verify that the product key that came with the computer are legitimate keys and not counterfeit.

The key used here is a Volume license key blocked for XP Pro-

which means that there is no way that there is a legal facility.

What version and edition of WIndows, your computer under license - according to the COA sticker on the case?

If the sticker COST says XP Pro, you can try to change the key to that on the sticker with the http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/help/genuine/product-key product key update tool

If the sticker COST says something else, you will need to reformat and reinstall the original operating system - preference by using the manufacturer's recovery media.

You will need to purchase a full commercial copy of Windows 7 and do a clean install. You cannot use a Windows XP hacked as an operating system that you are eligible for an upgrade. Make sure that there are Windows 7 drivers for the hardware of the laptop. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
