CPU spikes 80% earlier at 10:45 on the PROD Server

Hi all

11.2.0.1

AIX 6.1

Our systems administrator monitors daily using CPU/IO/MEMORY of our PROD server to the level of the BONE.

It announced today that there is a peak of 80% processor use earlier to our Production database server.

My boss asked me to study what Oracle user/program/process is causing this "peak".

There the database views performance that I can choose to give this info on time?

Thank you very much

CPU goes to 100% svchost State takes all the resources. Norton can not find any illegal software. Have tried to list the processes (run... etc.). I get a long list, don't know what to do about this. Anyone out there have some help?

    Hey Buddy

The same problem here. :( A universal solution is unknown to me but what I do is from the Task Manager. When svchost shows more than 90% of its use I simply stop this stupid process. After having done that, I can use my laptop without any problem and it will not happen again.

After restarting the laptop, the same thing happens again. I checked some other forums but never found no reasonable explanation how manage this stupid question.

Partitioning of a Windows 7 computer

On a laptop Windows 7 HP, it is possible to partition the hard drive by using software like Partition Master, install XP and an earlier version of Office on the new partition? I know I can run Win7 XP mode, but many prefer a base XP environment. Yes, I have new copies unregistered XP and Office 2003.

    TIA,

Besides Partition Master you can also use Windows 7 "Disk Managment" to shrink the partition of Windows 7, create a new partition of the space "unallocated", and then do a formatting NTFS "Full".

  • "The speed of the CPU 0 in group 0 is restricted by the system firmware."

    Hello!

My computer has recently been very slow. I tried to format and reinstall, but it did not help. When I checked the system event log, I saw this warning message repeatedly:

    Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Processor-Power
    37
    Warning!
The speed of processor 0 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for X seconds since the last report.

My CPU time are OK, and I've updated the drivers and BIOS. All power saving settings are set for maximum performance. Does anyone know what causes this problem and how it is fixed?

    Model: Pavilion DV7 6010so

CPU: AMD Turion Dual-Core processor P560

    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

EDIT: According to the performance test PassMark, my CPU performance is one-third of the exception. There is definitely something wrong.

I do not have the main function of parking in any case, it's Intel only, I guess.

With the help of AMD Overdrive didn't completely solve the problem, as something of force multiplier to 4 a few minutes after changing. I thought it had to be a kind of BIOS-side power save "feature", but the official BIOS of HP sucks and it is not all the options related to it. I installed the modded BIOS (it's risky, I know), disabled AMD Cool ' silent mode and now sticks to 12.5 x multiplier.

Pretty weird, huh? Cool ' Quiet is supposed to increase multiplier when necessary and lower it when the computer is idle, but for some reason it has stopped working properly a few months ago and stuck the multiplier to 4 x.

Yes, you can reinstall Windows 7 OEM System Builder License on the new hard drive with the new processor.

It will not be a problem in this case, since you don't "move" installation, you are doing a new installation. The less it will take is activation of the phone, as you change the hard drive:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • Number of CPU of the license server to the servers of a socket

I searched the community but found no solution or similar results. Maybe it's so trivial...

So the question is on the (Macrovision FlexLM) license server and how this licensing system for guests.

We use vCenter Server v2.5 3 update and license server is running on the same hardware. Are all ESX v3.5 hosts and update levels varies between 2 update and update 4. In this thread (Enterprise license) David Weinstein said with an example how many CPU is consumed from the license server.

You can use 16 CPU Enterprise License 'package' in different ways:

    • 2 servers with 8 CPU sockets populated = 2 * 8 = 16 CPU of the license server

    • 4 servers with 4 CPU sockets populated = 4 * 4 = 16 CPU of the license server

    • 8 servers with 2 CPU sockets populated = 8 * 2 = 16 CPU of the license server

Or you can do any combination of fill 16 CPU:

    • 1 server with 4-socket full CPU + 1 server with 8 sockets populated CPU + 2 servers with 2 sockets populated CPU = 484 = 16 CPU of the license server

So far, everything is correct and understandable, but when you add a server socket for the things the soup becomes interesting. Servers a socket use only 1 CPU since the license server and which is correct from the point of view License Manager server.

    QUESTION (S):

    1. Is an enterprise license for the ESX (up to two CPU sockets) the right to split into two servers a socket?

    2. In the opposite case and an enterprise license for ESX (up to two CPU sockets) is related to a single physical host and there is a socket server, how the license server should deliver CPU from the pool of license? CPU in a relationship?

    3. A good way to request a report where the license server shipped number of CPU's match with one, two, four or eight socket servers? Or is it all good 3rd third-party tool for that?

The one above was the command give the OS level that I don't know what information he gives and what database, since there are 12 databases on this server.

How can I get the CPU information?

And where can I find information for information of system data files, logs, temp, Archive?

  • Satellite L755 - PSK2YE - upgrade of Windows 8 - CPU spikes driven at the start of app

    Hello

Recently, I upgraded my OS Windows 8 Pro.
Since then, when I open an application or a new Web tab which requires some effort from shockwave plugin or gpu process, I noticed a spike cpu which lasts 3-9 seconds.

These spikes increase the temperature of the cpu from 50 ° c to 70 ° c.
But when the spike is complete, gets back to its usual temperature (50 ° c).

I have tried almost everything I read, but so far nothing has solved the problem. I tried the clean boot, safemode (network option checked), active the windows updates manual, at the request of maintenance at a specific time, disabled an option that allows atheros controller turn the unit off when the laptop is in sleep mode.

My drivers are all up to date, so I don't really know what's going on, so I would be sincerely grateful for your help.

PS: Three months ago, I sent my laptop to a toshiba centre clean the flue.
I use balanced energy mode, but the same problem occurs when I use high performance one.

However in power saving mode there is no ears at all. I used to see the same behavior when I reduced the maximum processor state to 95%.

    > However in power saving mode, there are at all without crampons. I used to see the same behavior when I reduced the maximum processor state to 95%.

The spikes appear due to stress CPU.
I noticed something similar to running some applications Chrome for a few seconds, the CPU would be stressed to the point where the fans begin to run with the highest performance. After about 5-10 seconds, CPU load goes down and the fans run slower.

I guess that's a result of bad programming of some applications such as constraints of software the CPU too

  • Slow computer - CPU spikes

Dell Dimension 3000 Desktop, Windows XP - SP3.   My computer was slow substantially lately so I researched the potential causes.  Performed several scans for viruses and malware with none detected.  Ran a msconfig to see if something was running at startup I knew - again nothing unexpected.  Then I looked in the Windows Task Manager.  With nothing else running - it's nothing listed in the Applications tab and do not touch the keyboard or the mouse, when look at the CPU usage, I noticed there's a spike to nearly 60% for 5 seconds of every minute.  Is this normal, or should I look for more strong something running in the background?  Suggested next steps?

This has been resolved in the end like a malware problem.

  • Regular CPU spikes every 15 seconds with USB 2.0 audio, fix, but refuses to install.

When streaming audio via the audio interface USB 2.0 Audio Class Compliant on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit update, there's regular CPU usage spikes up to 100% every 15 seconds, sometimes amounting to audio dropouts. Utility LatencyMon v6.5 reports that huge amount of CPU time is spent inside the usbport.sys driver whenever there are any audio stream of isochronous USB happening. I know that there is a supposed to be available to target exactly this problem - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/981214 fix - but the fix refuses to install, probably because the fix itself is quite old and does not seem to recognize the latest versions of the drivers usb*.sys on any instance to date of Windows 7.

I have tested and confirmed this problem on two different mobile-class workstation laptops from different manufacturers, both based on Intel 7 series / C216 QM77 chipset (Panther Point) and using the integrated chipset USB host controllers to connect to the audio interface (a 18i20 of Focusrite Scarlett). One of the laptops has EHCI and controllers xHCI routed to different physical ports, the other laptop has all the physical ports connected to xHCI; It might be interesting to note that the problem seems identical to the audio interface is connected to EHCI or xHCI. All other possible causes that usbport.sys were eliminated by a careful configuration and the measure, i.e. There is no limitation, no turbo CPU, no CPU C-State, not of processor HyperThreading, no food, no virtual memory paging management event, not even any SMI (System Management interrupt) passes, everything boils down to usbport.sys hogging the CPU.

It would also be interesting to note that according to Intel, there are a bunch of bugs known to host USB controller Series 7 / C216 chipsets, one can find an Errata section detailed from page 15 of the document Spec update - http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/specification-updates/7-series-chipset-pch-spec-update.pdf

Could this problem hogging CPU actually come from bugs in the hardware host controller USB drive operating system driver nuts? Or it comes from a bug unrelated in the OS driver? And what happened to the existing of the fix, why he refuses to install the operating system to date and how is the same old problem suddenly reappeared on automatically updating Windows 7 systems?

It is in any event, that my most sincere and humblest hold like a paying customer for a hotfix update fix this if possible, one that is truly committed to settle. Without corrective work, Windows 7 machines are quite useless for all serious audio work. I also feel that I speak not only for me but for all members of the global computer audio community who are trying to use Windows 7 with audio USB.

Just upgraded my Windows 7 Professional for Windows 10 Pro and the issue hogging CPU is now gone - no pics no CPU more, more dropouts no audio USB. (It would still be nice to have a fix for Windows 7 someday, too)

  • Windows 7 use of the CPU Spike!

I use Windows 7 SP1. There is a CPU usage spike suddenly after using the PC after some time. It happens even in the State of Hibernation. When its fine in hibernation, but several times he wake spikes and continues until the reboot. After the reboot, the use is back to normal. Manager tasks shows the tip down and the machine slows down but does not show processes running non-use and even process idle is normal.
