CPU usage routinely climbs to 70% on almost empty screen

cpu-usage.jpg

Hello
This problem has been who is rampant in me for almost a month.
It is an iOS app. On a single screen, which has just 4 components button at the bottom, a square of 320 * 400, and anything else the CPU usage can always be observed to rise 20% to 70% in the space of a minute how it falls only to start climbing again. There is no running code and memory does not increase.
It's 320 x 460 (windowed, not retina) GPU mode.
Thanks for reading.
Luke

It turned out to be a MovieClip backstage that I had not referenced in any code other than the creation of an instance. You'd think when a display without code object is backstage that it would use less cpu and ram. not you? Well not in this case. He had 6 children of Movieclip of 10 X 10 that once on stage are always said stop at one of the three frameworks. When, offstage bloody things were looped and for some reason, which increases in memory and cpu... dang im such a fool. Learned a great lesson it

  • Satellite R830-1GZ - CPU usage high (> 25%) and increase in the speed of the fan after reactivation

    Hi all

The CPU usage of my laptop shoots upward to 25% (and beyond) and increases in fan speed considerably after waking up, but only when I use an external mouse (Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000) - disconnect the mouse once it happened does not solve the problem, so I always have to restart my computer if I let go sleep with the connected mouse.

I noticed that when this produces the system interrupts - delayed appeals procedure and Interrupt Service routine appears in the resource monitor > CPU > process and seems to explain the increase in the use of the processor.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem would be most appreciated.

I use a Toshiba Satellite R830 1GZ with Windows 7 (64-bit). This problem will not occur when I use the same mouse with another laptop (Dell with Windows XP).

I think that the process that controls the mouse MS WLan does not close properly.
The system to memorize it and therefore the cooling module begins to spin faster because these processes stressed the central unit.

However, since the upgrade, I feel an annoying symptom, which has been reported by users of other brands as well.

Although I already follow most of related advice (known assassination unnessary process, change of reports), the CPU usage is still constantly around 30%, causing the fan to operate continuously and even more unsatisfactory: extremely affecting the battery life! Using processexplorer that I discovered, that svchost (or one of its processes) is at the origin of the problem, not one of the applications. Hi Vijay,

    1. Exactly how you try to play the games? Games online or offline?
    2. If you are referring to online games so what web browser are you using to play the games?

If you use internet Explorer, then, refer to the following.

When you browse a Web page in Microsoft Internet Explorer, the CPU usage meter in Task Manager may indicate 100% CPU usage. Because of this behavior, other programs may slow down or crash. For example, if you read a video DVD, an audio DVD or audio CD while you scroll through a Web page, you may strain video or audio.

This problem may occur on some computers if the option of scroll smooth use is enabled in Internet Options.

Note By default, the use smooth scrolling option is enabled in Internet Explorer.

To work around this problem, disable the option of scroll smooth use in Internet Explorer. To do this, follow these steps:

    (a) click the Start button and then click Control Panel.

    (b) in the Control Panel, make sure you are in Classic view, with all the control panel display icons. If this is not the case, click switch to Classic view in the left pane of the control panel.

    (c) click Internet Options to open the Internet Options dialog box. Click the Advanced tab and scroll down to the settings: navigation on topic. Select or clear the Use smooth scrolling check box.

    (d) click OKand then click the close button.

I think first we should know something on your system, then you should run some respectable malware removal tools and then only start troubleshooting of any problems (unless you just want to start guessing and try things).

Because the Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system request when a new question is asked, we know almost nothing about your system.  Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.

Provide information on your system, the better you can:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Internet browser and version?

Your system's disks IDE or SATA drives?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

No matter what you use to antivirus/antimalware protection please follow these steps:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs at:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
  • STARTUP__-HIGH CPU USAGE

At startup and recovery mode standby, the system is very slow. Resource Monitor reveals a cyclic 100% CPU usage where the main user is described as system & the NT kernel. This cycle is of almost zero use at 100% and repeat every 15 seconds approximately. The system will stabilize eventually, but this may take between 10 minutes and an hour.

Using msconfig, I disabled all services not MS, but the problem persists.

My skill level is not high, and I'm not sure of experimenting with disabling the MS programs to try to isolate the cause.

    Any advice?

    Hello

If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be more difficult to detect as the
    cause.

No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
extreme overkill point and then run the cleaning only when you are sure that the system is
    clean.

  • Bad battery will cause a high CPU usage?

Recently, my computer became VERY slow.  I have a Dell XPS 1330 with windows vista.  Computer ran great and all of a sudden, everything had been delayed.  When I type, it takes forever to actually appear on the computer.  I looked online and saw that it may be due to the high utilization of the processor (mine was about 95%).  So I did what one of the solutions was and typing 'msconfig' in 'run' and some of these disabled startup options.  This has contributed to some but it's still very slow, and the CPU usage is back after only 3 to 5 days.

I wonder if that means that I may have a virus, or whether it could be due to a defective battery.  I have the original supplied with the computer (WR050) battery and it has reached its limit, now works only if it is plugged.  I work on the search for a new battery, but I was wondering if this could be the problem with my computer SLOW terribley or if it's something more...

Try to uninstall all of the programs you don't need and if it does not restore your system (backup your data first) to your oldest restore point. It is almost certain to succeed.

Antivirus how do you have? If more then one, uninstall those that you don't use often. This should speed up your system from 20 to 50%.

  • Windows 7 update - slow download, svchost high CPU usage

I have a problem downloading by using the Windows Update application. This problem started after January 2016.  In the past, the request of update seems to work without the use of the svchost high CPU and with a reasonable download time.  There is usually a delay until the download has started, but then they ended quickly.

I have 4 computers: 3 running Windows 7 Pro (CPU - Intel dual, i5 & i7) and 1 running Windows 7 Home (Intel i3).  If the problem is not related to the CPU hardware as best I can tell.

My update setting is 'check for updates but let me download and install ".

The Windows Update process includes 3 steps:
    1. identify the important and recommended updates for your computer.
    2. the selection and download updates.
    3. the creation of the restore point and of the installation, the selected updates.

My problem is step 2, download the selected updates.  This happens on all 4 systems, and I do not expect a download to be this CPU load.  The download time is too long on all systems 4.

My online search for answers has been frustrating, but several posts said search for viruses, malware and Trojans.  I ran Malwarebytes (free), Windows Defender, Norton Security and ESET (online) on systems and no objects are found.

My most recent experience involved my Lenovo 7847 system (Intel dual core). Monday, May 23, I checked the updates and there were 15 updates important and 3 optional updates listed.

After reviewing the updates, I chose the 15 updates and started the download process.  The svchost.exe that is associated with the update happened to 45-60% CPU usage, update status showed no size or % finished and the task manager - network or explore the process did not show any activity download for a long time.

Finally, after about an hour, the update showed the download size and the % downloaded.  Svchost usage remains high during the time of whole download.  Once the download is complete, the restore point was created and updates have been installed, who also took some time (but it would be I/O CPU & Drive dependent).

The download status has not changed during most of the time that the download process is running.  The Task Manager and process explore both show very little network activity up to that very near the end of the download procedure. There is therefore no real indication that the process is blocked or just turn very slowly.   It almost seems that the Microsoft servers are overloaded, they delay the download for some reason, or the process svchost and sub-process fail to create good handshake with the server for download.

    My Questions:

    1. Why is svchost usage so high when nothing seems to happen?
    2. Why does take an hour or more to download the updates?  These aren't the huge file sizes, and this attempt to update was almost 2 weeks after Patch Tuesday, then Microsoft servers should not be overloaded.
    3. Why is the situation unchanged for so long during the download process?
    4. most important, what can I do to change this situation?

Thanks in advance for your help.

My 'update problem' seems to have changed.  Checking updates takes a lot of CPU resources and a lot of time.

We will leave well enough alone for now. [It took 3-4 hours for MU download/install updates of June on my Win7 boxes].

But please bookmark this thread. If the behavior persists in July - and especially in August, respond to this thread instead of starting a new. Good luck!

  • frequency max sawtoothing, 0-100% and CPU usage it follows on all cores

I've never seen frequency max sawtoothing like that or could find examples on the net...  I ran variations of msconfig from 8 cores starting at the current point of not designating the number of processors on startup (which solved mouse jerky movements). allowing the BCDEdit detectHAL did nothing. I killed the process and services but can't get rid of the saw tooth or see what is the cause...  For once I feel stupid that I see.

processors xeon to dual-core quad on a motherboard s5520hc with 20Gigs of ram and a NVIDIA gtx650.  New installation of Windows7. Performance monitor reports CPU 0-7 and all of them are subject to sawtooth synchronizing and CPU usage 0 to 95%. CPU - Z shows the two processors are almost identical in performance. (bus speed varies very little)

  • The CPU usage goes to 100%

I have a laptop Dell Studio 2010, the processor Intel, 4 GB of ram, hard disk 320 GM (180 GB consumed) running Windows 7 and IE 11 giving me CPU usage problems.  I don't know what everything is related, so here's the story.

I lived my download speed slow - dropped by half every 2 hours or more after a reboot.  Occasional problems with the speed of the computer as well, and when I checked the resource monitor I see the CPU usage hit 100%.  A reboot has always solved the problem.  Running in Mode safe mode eliminates the loss of download speed so I knew it wasn't a problem with the hardware or my cable modem or a wireless router.  I have explored many possible problems, but none solves the problem, then I reinstalled Win 7 Friday, January 16.  Download speed, not only fixed but faster than before.  It remains stable and do not disintegrate so there was something wrong with the OS, etc.

However, the problem of the use of the CPU remains.  What seems to happen is that something triggers a high demand and then all processes on the computer joins.   When I look at the resource now monitor consumes 1.3% of CPU, but when things are choking it consumes 15% of CPU and go all processes running as 0.5% to 5%.  So you can't point to a single process as the culprit it is possible that web sites of strong demand (lots of ads) trigger the problem.  I'll do some research on that.

I did a lot of web research as well as this forum, and no patches seem to work or apply to me.  I ran a Malwarebytes scan and a full virus scan with Microsoft Security Essentials: nothing found.

The computer is almost 4 years, but I wouldn't spend the $$ to replace and find that the problem is software.  Any ideas?

The problem solved when I've upgraded to Win10 on this machine.  At the same time degradation download speed (with time) newsletter is resolved.  I can't imagine how everything worked but I discussed the idea with several IT people I know and have gotten various suggestions.

Since a clean installation of the operating system has not fixed it, I do not understand why install Win10 fixed, but that's it.

Since then, I've replaced this computer.
